  1. Ok, first batch done. It was a'ight but we learned where we fucked up so next batch will be this weekend. Was going to do a marzen but that looks a little advanced so we are going to try a Whole Hog clone. Happy enough with the results that i am going to order kegs and other equipment, we were old school this time, pot on a turkey burner, fermented in a plastic barrel and bottle conditioned. I think the better equipment will help. Anyone have any Christmas ale recipes?
  2. Too much but its a lifelong bucket list item for me. more than double what i paid for big brothers car.
  3. noticed this thread got bumped. got oldest a 2015 altima for around $8k, had 90k miles on it. he has driven it about a year now and still under 100k. its been perfect for him. got the youngest a 1988 bronco (well, actually for me). it was in great shape but have dumped another $3k or so on it (engine stuff) because its a 32 year old vehicle. i really love it, so does he.
  4. CTE says hi. My kids have been practicing/working out in a fairly large group since March (wrestling). They have also traveled to 3 out of state tournaments with 100's of kids and 1000's of spectators. zero deaths and zero + tests as a result. We are a large 6A school and today is the 2nd day, in person, that they have been back in school They said in their classes there was an average of 2 kids "virtual", the rest were in class.
  5. I think the black ship won that one. so fucking racist.
  6. jumping into the game. training wheels locked and loaded. luckily my buddy helping out is a biochemist or some shit like that so ill sit back and watch. ordered the alaskan amber clone from homebrewers website as our trial run. have you guys tried the clone recipes? do they work well? thinking about tank 7 for our next run and want to figure out octoberfests and christmas ales before it cools off. anyway, just looking for some tips on recipes.
  7. Beat me to it. With social media, people are absolutely demolished within seconds.
  8. Yup, my CA based firm announced this is now a company holiday. The CEO found out about Juneteenth about 3 days before his announcement. He actually said "I was having lunch with my black friend and he educated me on the importance of Juneteenth".
  9. I had a large butcher block (maple) installed years ago when i redid my kitchen. 1/2 my island is BB, the other half granite. great work area. i agree on the dexter knife above (all dexter knives). I dont touch my shuns and other $$ knives anymore. 14" slicer, a boning knife (great for triming before cooking) and a nice heavy clever for chopping.

    Getting old sucks

crossed the 1/2 century mark a couple days ago. fuck, really hard to say that out loud. no one in my family has ever seen 70 so i'm on the final stretch i imagine. finally gave in on the diabetes bullshit (tried every diet, etc known to man and the doc said you cant fight genetics) so im going with meds. good news, cholesterol, heart are in tip-top shape. i really do eat well and exercise frequently...at least the most my broken down body will allow (3 knee surgeries, 3 R shoulder, 2 back surgeries with a 2 level fusion staring me in the eyes). bought a dozen readers to keep around. I have 2 high school boys and i fucking HATE i cant exercise, play sports with them. bottom line...getting old fucking sucks.
  11. dont know if any of yall have a FLO subscription (flowrestling, grappling, etc.) but they have a new documentary that dropped tonight "bad cut" about weight cutting in wrestling and mma. incredible.
  12. i told him to file. he wouldnt get another estimate. fuck it, im done with it. jr is doing about 100 miles per day...gotta get back on that horse and get a handle on it.
  13. yup, looking that way. he isnt interested in getting a 2nd. reading the estimate, there is glass work, antenna, TPMS, etc. wtf, its maybe 2 inches long on the rear qtr panel.
  14. cops were there, no citation (cop said "that will buff out"). ill post pic in a minute.
  15. 2 teenage drivers is already $$$$$$$ I imagine a claim like this would kill me.
  16. Long story short...my 15 year old, permitted driver dinged a guy in the parking lot the other day. It was basically a fender "rub' but there was a very small dent on the qtr panel. I told the guy i would like to pay out of pocket vs filing insurance. Well, he sent me his estimate today and it was $10,000. Granted, its a brand new, 2019 lexus but $10K??? I asked if we could get another estimate and waiting to hear back from him. Obviously he holds the cards. Any thoughts other than kill my kid as a sacrifice?
  17. Went to discount tire friday, when i handed them my keys, they held out a sandwich size ziplock and asked me to put my keys inside. they then took the key out, did their work, put the key back in the baggie and handed it to me. WTF?
  18. Social media got something wrong? No fucking way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree with others, even stanco's wife is hotter. There, I said it.
  19. A guy opened a pizza shop about a block from my office 4 weeks ago. Poor bastard. I have picked up pizza from him every day for my skeleton crew staff. He is very appreciative of any business. A little bonus, he just got his taps installed and working 2 weeks ago, he is filling up my growlers for $5 every time i go in now.
  20. Took a vacation day today after being at the office all week. Lets see: Office = no traffic, parked in the best parking place, expensed delivered lunch every day. "Vacation" day at home = Woken up at 6:00 by my wife on a conference call, both kids home beating the shit out of each other due to boredom, ate PB&J sandwich for lunch. Winner = Office
  21. AAL parking 450 planes: We continue to significantly reduce our schedule in response to government restrictions on travel and consumer demand. All long-haul international flying has been pulled down with the exception of London Heathrow (which we are operating 1x daily from DFW and MIA) and Tokyo Narita (which we are operating 3x per week from DFW). We have reduced international flying by 75% and our domestic schedule by 30% in April, with plans to reduce it even further in May. In all, we have reduced our April schedule by more than 55,000 flights and will be parking approximately 130 of our widebody aircraft and 320 of our narrowbody planes.
  22. My 2 teenage boys and myself stopped down for one yesterday. Its campy/stupid but not that bad...thank me later I present...Cooties https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_he1HiLy0A
