  1. I don’t think you understand what a bit is. Typically, a bit is humorous to at least a few people. It’s like a running joke within a group of people or within a form of entertainment. It adds some levity to a situation. A good example from this site would be Steel Shank’s posts about Bud Light and laying pipe. No one thinks the poster in question is humorous. He does not add levity or make these conversations remotely better. He exists to antagonize posters by saying shit for the sole purpose of getting under their skin. That’s called a troll. By your very odd definition of a bit, pretty much anyone could be considered a bit. Laura Loomer is a bit. RFK Jr. is a bit.
  2. Why do you guys respond to the troll? He feeds off that. He posts outrageous bullshit just to get a reaction out of a few specific posters and some of you keep stooping to his level. Put him on ignore and then he’ll be posting to no one and eventually find somewhere else to troll.
  3. You can convert Chase points to cash at a 1:1 point:cent rate, but that’s a terrible way to use the points. Redemption for various travel options will almost always be a better value, assuming you travel. CSR has always been a premium travel card, so the target market is people who like to travel and the benefits it provides - $300 annual travel credit, travel and rental car insurance, Global Entry coverage, lounge access, etc. Under the original fees and benefits, it was very easy to recoup the $450 AF and justify the card. It’s a little more complicated as the AF has increased and non-travel benefits have been thrown in, so obviously many people may feel it’s no longer worth the cost. For anyone who wants a cash back card and not a card with travel rewards, no iteration of the CSR has ever been a great choice. I personally prefer to occasionally get a totally free trip or airfare or hotel stay, vs just a slow trickle of monthly statement credits back into my account.
  4. I don’t even bother with Priority Pass lounges in the U.S. anymore. The one in DFW is tiny with mediocre food and drinks and long waits. The couple of times I’ve used an international PP lounge has been a much better experience. DFW is getting a Chase Sapphire lounge soon, so that might be a nice option if the waits aren’t terrible. Wait times seem to be ruining most lounges.
  5. Hilarious, but what’s the backstory on this?
  6. Where are the posters saying the government shouldn’t use tax dollars to pay for entertainment?
  7. I know this has been touched on in the travel tips mega thread, but I think enough people use this card to have a dedicated thread for the upcoming changes. New annual fee is $795 + $195 for an AU, starting with card anniversary. New benefits go into effect 10/26/25. Here is a breakdown taken from another site: POINTS EARNING 8x points on all travel booked through Chase 4x points on all other flights and hotels booked directly with airline or hotel 3x points on dining at restaurants 1x points on everything else BENEFITS $300 travel credit $250 x 2 yearly credit for The Edit hotels booked through Chase $150 x 2 dining credit through Sapphire Reserve exclusive tables via OpenTable $250 Apple TV and Apple Music Credit $150 x 2 Stubhub credits $120 Peloton (12x$10) $120 Lyft credit (12x$10) $420 Doordash (Dashpass + 12x($5+$10+$10) IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite Status 2x redemption rate for points at The Edit hotels and Premium cabin airfare Priority Pass + Air Canada Maple leaf lounge (when traveling on star alliance) Global Entry fee credit Other benefits like car rental coverage and trip delay appear to stay the same AFTER $75,000 SPEND IHG Diamond Elite Status $500 Southwest Credit via Chase Travel A-list Status with Southwest $250 Shops at Chase credit Also, the 1.5x point redemption through the Chase portal is going away. It's getting replaced by a 2x Points Boost on some bookings, but I assume those will be very limited offerings and I'm not aware of a way to preview how that will actually look. So that seems like a net negative. I have my wife as an AU (I know, not recommended by people who churn cards, but it's convenient) so my new annual fee is basically $1,000, or let's say $700 after the immediate travel credit. I use Apple TV+ so there's another $120 in useful credits, so now I just need $580 in actual value each year. I don't use Apple Music or Peloton and my Global Entry isn't due for 2-3 years, so those are all useless. I do use Stubhub 2-3 times a year so it seem like I can easily redeem the 2 x $150 credits, assuming no strings attached to that. The exclusive dining tables I think is new? so I registered my Opentable account and it looks like there aren't a ton of options in DFW. I guess I could do it but I would be going out of my way to eat somewhere I wouldn't otherwise pick. I occasionally book hotels through Chase that are listed as The Edit and I usually get a minor perk at the hotel, but the $250 statement credit would be nice. My understanding is you need to stay 2 nights to qualify, but I usually do that. I'm not a big Door Dasher and I think those credits are fairly restricted, so kinda worthless to me. I use Uber occasionally, Lyft hardly ever, but it would be an easy switch when I need it. I would likely qualify for the $75,000 annual spend, so the $500 SWA credit seems like a major perk and the $250 Shops at Chase credit could be useful for something? Curious everyone's thoughts on these changes and the value of the card in its new form. I'm sure a lot of people will downgrade to the CSP or one of the free cards, but I get the feeling the CSR is still a good option even at the higher price point.
  8. Maybe confusing me with someone else. No worries.
  9. The thing about helping Kerrville is that our state leaders are preoccupied with redrawing congressional districts. If people want actual help and accountability in the wake of a tragedy, make better decisions at the ballot box.
  10. I don’t think you’re crazy and I would be livid if a healthcare provider of any kind scheduled me for a procedure without telling me first. At best, it’s an honest dentist with terrible communication skills, which would be enough for me to drop the dentist. At worst, it’s a dishonest dentist who is overtreating you, costing you money and putting you at risk of complications. Like you, I went several years without seeing a dentist. I brushed my teeth frequently and never sensed a problem, plus I was very busy and then I moved cities. Eventually, I found a new dentist and she did 4 fillings at the first visit. I didn’t argue and felt like I probably deserved it for skipping the dentist for a few years. 2 of those teeth developed abscesses within the first 3 weeks of treatment, requiring root canals and crowns ($3k per tooth). The other 2 teeth eventually followed suit, so all 4 teeth that she drilled on ended up as crowns. Between the dentist and the endodontist, with exams, x-rays, fillings, root canals, and crowns, I spent $25k+ in a span of 2 years. All OOP because I didn’t have dental insurance. I’m not entirely convinced she didn’t fuck up my teeth at that first visit, but she would never admit that. So I need a new dentist again.
  11. Scenario A - Trump is not implicated in the Epstein files. There is nothing to strategize on. Just release the info and go after Clinton and Gates and whoever. Scenario B - Trump is implicated in the Epstein files. Maybe they need to develop a strategy. The funny thing about them meeting to strategize is that Scenario B is true.
  12. When one side is pure evil and destructive, the other side can still be kind of bad and easily be considered more virtuous. The shocking thing is when people cannot realize or admit how evil that one side is. Perhaps you know it deep down and won’t admit it out loud, or your conscious mind suppresses what your subconscious mind senses is true. Maybe that’s your defense mechanism that allows you to believe the lies you are told because somehow you believe that party benefits you personally even if it comes at an enormous cost to those around you. As long as you got yours, or foolishly believe you are getting yours. Or perhaps you are just rotten inside or easily manipulated by misinformation. I wouldn’t go so far as to suggest anything about reasonably intelligent people on both sides. Any “intelligent” person who supports the current regime is a selfish racist asshole who is willing to turn a blind eye to things like sexual assault, pedophilia, abuse of government power, all while actively rejecting things like science, medicine, education, arts, history, and basic human decency.
  13. The next pandemic should be fun.
  14. Okay, so you’re critical of the Democrat response to a situation. Just to clarify, how do you feel about the actual situation that prompted that response? Do you think Texas should redraw congressional districts before the 2026 midterms?
  15. Nice meeting you and your family and glad it was a good trip. We had a lot of fun taking our daughter for her first time. Traveling with a toddler is a wild card but she was really good. Different from every other trip but we loved it and we’re already kicking around dates for next year.
  16. We are so fucked. People have chosen ignorance over science and truth.
  17. Absolutely. Media: So you cut Epstein off because you suspected him of being a pedophile and child sex trafficker? Trump: Oh, that? That’s a hoax. Jeff is a good guy and we have the same taste in women but he stole my spa and no spa girls. I don’t like people who steal teenage girls like Virginia Giuffre from me. Media: Okay. Foxnews: Biden’s doctors helped hide his dementia.
  18. So he’s taking another swing at “the whole thing is a scam set up by the democrats” line of defense. Such a ridiculous explanation that only a completely guilty person would even attempt to claim that, yet 40% of the country will grow to believe this by October.
  19. Everything about Trump is infuriating, but it especially pisses me off that he got both ABC and CBS to settle with him over things that were basically true, and meanwhile he spews obviously false nonsense all over the internet on a daily basis. Things that are verifiably incorrect, yet no is able to make him stop vomiting lies.
  20. Well it seems pretty obvious that Maxwell is not in charge of her own situation at this point. It’s not like she has been peacefully locked away and then gradually became remorseful and decided on her own accord to open up to Oprah or 60 Minutes to clear her conscience. Pretty sure this past week, she was told in no uncertain terms “start talking.” What she actually said, or the extent to which she was forced or not forced to say certain things, we will likely never know. If she said anything incriminating against Trump, it’s almost a certainty we will not get the unadulterated version of that. You would have to be an idiot to think otherwise. If she gave a testimony that absolves Trump, most reasonable people outside of the MAGA cult would always wonder the extent to which she was forced to do so. Under normal circumstances, her testimony is not trustworthy. She was already charged with perjury twice. Under the current circumstances, anything she says is about as valid as anything Trump says, which is to say, likely a lie.
  21. Maybe she was concerned that saying anything at all would result in her suicide.
  22. It still seems to me highly problematic for Trump that if Maxwell names specific offenders, there becomes an obligation to investigate or prosecute those people. That process may eventually lead to people opening up about Trump, who would otherwise remain silent. People who were on the island and at these New York parties know who else was there, and what kind of vile shit they were all doing together. It’s best for all of them if everyone stays quiet until the grave.
  23. That certainly could happen, and I’m not even disagreeing that it’s likely to happen, but there’s the huge risk of: A) Everyone including MAGA being pissed that Maxwell was pardoned B) The offenders she names suddenly want to tell all about Trump, and perhaps they have photos or other evidence
  24. It seems like a massive political gamble to pardon Maxwell. To even have the slightest chance of working in Trump’s favor, she would need to claim that Trump was never a part of the Epstein sex stuff while also offering up some names of offenders that could be prosecuted and satisfy the MAGA bloodlust. With just the first part, it would make no sense at all to let a known child sex trafficker go free. Also, if Maxwell throws a few other people under the bus on Trump’s behalf, you have to worry about those people talking. They are currently quiet because they are still anonymous. It’s a mutually assured destruction situation. All of that being said, never underestimate the ability of MAGA to be gaslighted by their orange god.
  25. I assumed the would be the follow up to changing the names of military bases back. I’m surprised it took him this long. I’m sure by the end of the year, a Texas state congressman from East Texas will introduce a bill to start changing street names back. Azie Morton Rd will become Robert E Lee again.
