  1. 4th Texas Cares draw last Friday (7/29/2022) S>2500 N=185.0 This is my history... Had a mild case of Covid in October 2020 Pfizer/Pfizer back in Feb/March 2021 Texas CARES in early Sept 2021 S>2500 N=51 Texas CARES in early December 2021 S=1615 N=31 Boosted Moderna mid-December 2021 3rd Texas Cares draw on (3/30/2022) S>2500 N=196.0 Jump in my N-antibodies between 2nd and 3rd draw must mean I had Covid sometime between my early December 2021 blood draw and March 2022. Late Feb-Mid March 2022 I was fighting an upper respiratory infection, sore throat, pink eye, hacking cough. I took two covid tests (both negative) and flu and a strep test (all negative). Symptoms finally cleared with steroid dosepack and 10 days of antibiotics. That had to have been it despite the 2 negative tests. Antibodies (both types) are still rocking along. Doesn't seem like an additional boost would do much for me, at least until the "updated" version comes out.
  2. DO NOT FORGET THE SHIT STICK For real though, good luck and hopefully the worst won't occur.
  3. First shot definitely appears to have either missed or been a misfire of some sort. I don't see how no one else (security, etc.) was hurt who was standing between him and the gunman. Shot gun blasts typically not that precise. RIP Abe
  4. I told my wife the news and she said, "where QBs go to die" my response: but also a little this...
  5. We have a now almost 20 year old son with a late July birthday so most of what I reference is from research done almost 15 years ago. At the time probably 25%-33% of June or later birthdays delayed the start of kindergarten. Breaking it down further, boys from middle class and up families it was something like 70%+ delayed kindergarten start. Girls and less affluent boys and girls the numbers were in the low teens or even single digits. We had our son do kindergarten at a church school and then do kindergarten again at the local school so he wasn't just repeating exactly what he did the year before. He had a great overall academic and athletic experience through school. Chances are he would also have done fine had he not "redshirted" but we remain happy with our choice. We also have a current 9 year old son with an end of April birthday. We did not delay his start to school (mainly because we are now old AF). He is doing fine overall but he is definitely less mature than a lot of his peers. Looking around he is the second youngest kid (boys and girls) in his grade at school which tells me that the statistics of how popular "redishirting" is, at a minimum, holding steady, if not increasing. He has a couple of boys in his grade who are more than a year older than him. Tons of variables obviously but it is pretty common, especially for Summer birthday boys.
  6. Dude, we ARE in the CWS for the 2nd straight year. Sucks we’re losing to the ags but c’mon man!! no argument on football tho
  7. I have a co-worker who relocated from Canada. He is a US citizen but his wife and kids were not. Once they moved to the US in 2019 they began the process of applying for green cards for wife and kids. Also applied for SSN's for wife and kids through the same process with the immigration lawyer they were using. Due to general government delays and COVID, the SSNs were not issued until 2021. He filed his 2020 taxes claiming his kids as dependents at the extended deadline in 2021 after he had received the SSNs. Additionally he amended his 2019 return to include his kids as dependents under their newly issued SSNs. Yesterday he received a letter from the IRS stating that they were denying the "dependent" status for 2020 because the SSNs were not issued until 2021. Presumably he will get a similar letter soon regarding his amended 2019 return on which he also claimed his kids as dependents. His immigration lawyer isn't offering any advice or assistance. Seems like there should be some vehicle to allow for the dependent election as long as it (SSN) has been applied for but I don't know. Does anyone have any experience with something like this or a referral to someone (CPA,etc.) that he should talk to?
  8. Yes, this may make an already hard to manage pitching day even more interesting.
  9. Brat 90% of the time the Mrs. says something... Congrats man, that is awesome!!
  10. Question for the experts: My old Polaris began "stopping" mid-cycle in about the same spot in the pool a few weeks ago. Not against a wall or anything but about the same spot each day. Had the pool guy look at it and his assessment was that the drive chain and gear mechanism was worn out and could be replaced or a new unit could be purchased for around the same price. The old one was 10 years or more old so I just bought a new one (Polaris 280). I installed it last week and it worked great but yesterday noticed that it has started "stopping" mid-cycle in almost exactly the same spot the old one did. The tail continues to sweep but none of the wheels are turning and it is tilted up toward the one wheel side. If I grab the hose to pull it to the surface to look at it and then drop it back in it will start working properly again for 15 or 20 minutes and then "stop" again in about the same place (no wheels turning, tilted toward one wheel side and tail is still sweeping). Most online stuff I see indicates problem like this may come from an older unit where the wheels are worn so they aren't making contact with one another to push it forward. Shouldn't be my problem as it is brand new and the wheels are touching, but none of the wheels are moving at all. The booster pump that runs it seems to be working properly regardless of whether the polaris is "working" or "stopped". Any ideas?
  11. Late Feb-Mid March I was fighting an upper respiratory infection, sore throat, pink eye, hacking cough. I took two covid tests (both negative) and flu and a strep test (all negative). Symptoms finally cleared with steroid dosepack and 10 days of antibiotics. That had to have been it despite the 2 negative tests. I guess I'm good to go lick some doorknobs for a while.
  12. 3rd Texas Cares draw on Wednesday (3/30) S>2500 N=196.0 I'm assuming this jump in my N-antibodies means I had Covid sometime between my early December blood draw and now. Is there another explanation for why my N antibodies would have jumped?
  13. I saw a profile piece during the season regarding Coach Day's family history with suicide and how he had avoided speaking of it until a few years ago out of shame/embarrassment, etc. He has made a change and chosen to focus on helping those who suffer. Good on Coach Day and this kid for speaking up for so many who feel this way and suffer in silence. Here is the piece I was referencing... about 6 minutes long but worth it.
  14. Great burgers at Pawley's Front Porch in the 5 points area. Take 'em to see the cannonball marks on the Capitol building.
  15. ^^^^^^^ I'm normally one to say "live and let live" but the last item on your list makes me want to ask why you hate puppies, jesus and Texas? Unpopular opinions thread is that way...
  16. I'm an Olympic junkie but even I am struggling to spend much time on it. The delays make it hard to avoid knowing the results for any "popular" event. The whole, "I'm from country A, but I'm competing for country B" is a bit of a beating for me also. I'll watch some for sure but I'm not as into it as normal.
