  1. I don't think this really makes me "surly", more I just don't get it. I've noticed more and more over the last few years, every time I park in a large parking lot, especially at the grocery store, I look around as I'm walking and notice about 1/3 of the parked vehicles have someone sitting in them, fucking with their phones or napping or something. Is this Uber/Doordash drivers just killing time until next trip? Couples with a single vehicle between them and one doesn't want to go in? Marginally homeless?
  2. (Turning into my old man): Any person that drops $450 on an "authentic" gold jersey forfeits the right to complain about money ever again.
  3. Port Arthur LNG was officially greenlit yesterday. https://www.sempra.com/sempra-launches-port-arthur-lng-project
  4. Digging the current extended forecast for the next 2 weeks. Long stretch of days with highs in the low 80's, lows in the high 50's or low 60's. This is what late March is supposed to feel like.
  5. Back in my bar-going days 10-15 years ago, an all-too-common sight was the 45+ year old guys wearing douche jeans, Ed Hardy shirts, spiked hair...etc. Bruh, you're not fooling anyone.
  6. Canada CPI for February came in light, despite a pause in rate hikes: MOM +0.4% vs 0.5% estimate YOY dropped from 5.9% to 5.2% vs. estimated 5.4%.
  7. Not an ideal Spring to be honest. Altuve out indefinitely. LMJ and Brantley not close to playing yet. Yordan sat out almost all of ST and may not be ready for Opening Day.
  8. Sounds like Yordan may get into a game sometime this week.
  9. Release date finally announced for Season 2 of Sweet Tooth.
  10. February PPI comes in very soft. MOM: -0.1% vs 0.3% estimate. YOY: 4.6% vs. 5.4% estimate.
  11. Cats knock off TCU in San Marcos. Jose Gonzalez continues to impress. Now hitting .407 with 1.417 OPS on the season. 7 HR, 27 RBI in 16 games.
  12. I thought so as well, compared to other recent deals, at least on a simple $/acre metric. Haven't done a deep dive to see how much actual daily production involved. Marathon's deal to buy Ensign's EF acreage was $3B cash for 130K acres. Baytex's deal to buy Ranger's EF acreage was $2.5B cash (plus $650M debt assumption) for 162K acres. Ineos Chesapeake was $1.4B cash for 172K acres.
  13. Hit some new gym milestones I'm pleased with this week. Every Monday I hit my office gym after work and get in some cardio to sweat out the weekend and also use the chest press machine, which has a max weight of 200. When I first started working out again back in April last year, I started at 30 reps of 150/160/170. Did 50 x 200 yesterday for the first time. Similarly, did 40 x 75 on the curls machine at the Y this morning for the first time. Started at 30 x 45.
  14. Right on cue, after an abnormally warm start to March, colder, wetter weather returns just in time for Spring Break. Gonna be chilly, rainy, and windy as hell Thursday and Friday.
  15. SIAP, but Season 3 of I Think You Should Leave was announced to premiere on May 30. May be the funniest sketch comedy show ever filmed, IMO.
  16. Season 2 is set for a June premiere. No specific date given yet.
  17. Also there's an old man set up on the street outside CM that sells bags of homemade roasted pecans. 3 different flavors for $10. They're awesome.
  18. Wife and I heading to hill country for the weekend tomorrow. Gonna stop in Luling on the way and hit City Market, as is tradition. I know they've been lapped by better shops over the years, but I still insist we go for nostalgia....and the ribs...and a lunch for 2 for under $30...and a big jug of their sauce to go.
  19. I think the extremely mild February has greatly helped with harvests. Prices* have plummeted over the past few weeks. Size is already pretty good and it's not even officially Spring yet.. *Live prices that is. Restaurants and bars are still committing highway robbery by and large. My guy that drives the primo crop over from LA on weekends was charging $3.50 Saturday before last. Dropped to $3 this past weekend. Seafood market down on the coast where I've bought sacks before went from $2.79 last weekend to $2.29 currently for medium mix. Place next door is $2.59 for large mix.
  20. Posted in the winter weather thread, but relevant here too. NOAA has declared an end to the La Nina that has persisted since Fall 2020. Oceanic water temps are currently considered "neutral." ~60% chance of an El Nino starting up by the Fall. Might not be 1,000 degrees and bone dry all Summer.
  21. La Niña, which increases hurricane activity and worsens western drought, is finally over after a rare three-year "triple dip," the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Thursday. Weather conditions are now considered neutral, NOAA officials said. The neutral conditions are expected to continue in the Northern Hemisphere through spring and early summer. There's around a 60% chance that El Niño develops in the fall, climate officials said. When El Niño arrives, it's likely to cause wetter-than-average conditions along the Gulf Coast between October and March. It can mean dryer and warmer conditions in the northern U.S. and Canada.
  22. The comments from Elon's legion of reply guys on that tweet (and pretty much all others) are just so pathetic. Elon: "I apologize for shit-talking the cripple. Some of my henchmen told me he sucked balls, but it turns out he's only sorta lame and may stick around." Elon Knob-Gobblers: "OMG, Sir, your magnanimity has me in tears. Only a genius of your caliber has the guts to admit when he's wrong. We should all be so lucky to have such an interaction with you, my liege. Gonna pre-order an extra Cybertruck to mark this day!"
