  1. 76-62. Fangraphs has us winning the division if we can get to 88 wins. Would only need to go 12-12 over the final 24. Let's try for 14-10 at least.
  2. Boom. Nail in the coffin.
  3. Nice. Price was released and it's only gonna be $20, which will likely be an absolute steal. Hollow Knight was easily 40+ hours of content and I imagine Silksong will be at least as big.
  4. Spent the morning driving back from friends' lake house, so no Opening Day action for me, but I'm doing an afternoon dove hunt out near Sealy on Thursday. Should be fun, but man it's gonna be a hot one. Planning a trip up to the deer lease on Saturday morning to replace a cheap POS feeder that got destroyed by coons with a proper metal unit. Gonna go sit in a stand that evening and should have an easy shot at a pack of hogs right before sundown (based on camera action the last few weeks). It's officially hunting season boys!
  5. Way to come in and walk the first 2 batters you see. Christ almighty.
  6. I held on to all my shares in Confederated Slave Holdings, Transatlantic Zeppelins, and the Baltimore Opera Hat Company b/c my lackey never told me about the big crash of '29.
  7. Heading into the final weekend of the year where it's not at least 1 major hunting season!
  8. Hogs are doing their job of trampling down the vegetation around the feeder. Just running this one in the evenings for now. I'll need to head up in the near future and "thank" them for their service, just need it to cool down a tad.
  9. Crescent makes its 2nd big acquisition in the past 18 months, buying Vital Energy for $3.1B. Surprising move b/c Crescent is primarily an EF operator, while Vital is a pure Permian play.
  10. Looking possible that we get that our first Fall Head-Fake front rolling through on Saturday, which would provide for a rather mild start to September. Think highs and lows more in the 90/74 range than 97/78.
  11. Was high 90's yesterday but very low humidity by Houston standards so actually a pretty nice day.
  12. I see LA has an "extreme heat" warning today. High of 90, low of 66, low humidity. LOL. That's considered almost an ideal day in May in TX.
  13. Currently not bad by late-August standards. Hot and sunny today through Monday, but a little lower humidity than usual. Forecast has us shifting to slightly cooler conditions (highs in the low 90's vs. mid to high 90's) starting Tuesday, which is right around average for this time of year.
  14. TPWD Dove Season Forecast looks promising:
  15. Almost came home from vacation with a new acoustic. Just got back from visiting my wife's best friend in Colorado. Her dad passed about a month ago and one of the things she brought back from his house was a very good condition 1998 Taylor 710-CE (similar one pictured below). I played it a bunch while there and asked what she was planning to do with it. She didn't know yet or have any idea what it was worth. I showed her the make and model number on the tag inside the body and sent her a bunch of links to what they sell for in stores. Followed up with what I considered a very fair offer, which was significantly higher than 2 lowball offers she'd already received. She's gonna take some time to think about it, but she told my wife she'll probably end up selling it to me. Fingers crossed.
  16. Damn, tragic final year of his life. "Parted ways" with Mastodon after 20+ years and spent the last few months trashing his former bandmates.
  17. September 4 it is.
  18. Some great stuff from the games in there, from the slow-mo bullet shots to The Ghoul just hauling ass upon encountering a Deathclaw. A video game adaptation is obviously done well when both someone that has played the entire franchise (me) and someone who has never played or even seen a second of the games (wife) seem to enjoy it equally.
  19. Here's an outline of the property involved based on that thread:
  20. I'm planning an Academy trip this weekend. Gotta get my annual super combo, duck stamp, couple boxes of regular shells and some steel shot. Have a dove hunt set for 9/4 and then a teal hunt on 9/26. Popped up to my lease the Saturday before last to do some work and while there, we went ahead and partially filled 2 feeders and started running them just once a day in the evenings. Only took about 24 hours for deer and hogs to start showing up routinely at sundown. Getting lots of camera action the past 10 days. I'm so ready for Fall.
  21. Gamescom '25 started out with confirmation that Silksong is finally releasing this year. Developers are streaming a "special announcement" tomorrow, which is widely expected to be an official release date. For the uninitiated, Silksong is the sequel to Hollow Knight, one of the most successful and beloved indie games of all time, developed by a team of just 3 guys in Australia. It originally was planned as a DLC expansion to HK, but the developers raised a ton of Kickstarter money and decided to make it a full sequel. That was in 2019. A teaser trailer was released back in 2022, and since then there has been almost complete radio silence from the developers. The rabid fanbase would get their hopes up for news at every single gaming convention, Nintendo direct showcase, Xbox Showcase...etc. and always be left disappointed. R/silksong has close to 175K members posting daily and it eventually became a meme that Silksong was simply a mass-delusion that didn't actually exist.
  22. Spent the past 8 days in Aspen area. Never got above 85 and humidity was usually around 15% in the afternoon. Typically high 50's on the short walk into town for coffee in the mornings. Almost every single one of my last 20+ meals were eaten outside. Current "feels like" in Houston is 101. Man this is rough to come back to after a nice vacation.
  23. Pretty obvious that Espada was unwilling to use Abreu or Hader tonight, no matter the scenario. Glad it worked out (just barely).
  24. 7-2 with 2 outs and no one on and scrub relievers give up HR, 2B, 2B, HR, 1B before finally heading into the dugout with a meager 7-6 lead. Pathetic.
  25. Historically speaking, tomorrow is the last day before the worm starts to turn ever so slowly, at least in regard to average daily highs and lows. From 7/29-8/12, we're at the peak daily average of 96/77 (this is for Houston). Typically, that drops to 95/76 from 8/13-8/22, then 94/75 starting 8/23 and so forth. Over the next 3 weeks or so, we'll drop an average of 1 degree off the average high and low every 7-8 days, before speeding up to every 5-6 days once we get into September.
