I also like how Trump put "unlimited" in quotation marks like he got cut off from breadsticks at Olive Garden because he left the premises to go to Burger King and then came back for more breadsticks.  There's a John Pinetta joke in there somewhere.

That’s all your strikes, fat boy!

Saw G. Love and Special Sauce last week at The Independent in San Francisco.

My wife and I were able to attend the pre-show all-request, acoustic set with G. Love (1st pic). There were supposed to be 50 people attending; however, only 10-12 showed up

    The actual show kicked ass.

The opening act was Jakob’s Castle led by Jakob Nowell (the son of Bradley) who will be joining Sublime as a full-time member.

They’re easy marks. Put a red hat on anything and label it patriot in red, white and blue. The more garish, the better.

I actually have a decent idea for a product that I’m considering. This is the time to act because the republicans are all gonna get on board after the RNC.

    Need investors?

I just started watching.  Probably been mentioned here before but Nick Sobotka’s girlfriend’s tits in season 2 are impressive.

    None of us noticed

I've actually heard Biden speak. He is clearly plenty sharp and has great responses to questions. Giving the refusal to press charges, I'm quite confident the memory issues stated in the report are solely there as a red meat for Republican voters.

Exactly. This is why he wasn’t charged:

“does not establish Mr. Biden’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.”

i started my third rewatch a few weeks ago. just an episode a night or so.  i'm halfway through season 2, and all i can really think about right now is how not one of those motherfuckers was ever nominated for an Emmy in an acting category, and the show was never nominated for best drama.  it's criminal.  it's right up there with Reggie Bush beating VY for the Heisman as the biggest travesty in awards show history.

if The Wire came out today, it would be like Succession.  there would 2 or 3 actors up for each category.  Larry Gilliard Jr as Dee should have an Emmy under his belt in a supporting role for season 1.  he was awesome. Chris Bauer as Frank Sobotka would be a shoe in nominee for season 2 best supporting actor.  but you could throw out 10 other names that had Emmy worthy submissions.  yet not one nomination.

as for Best Drama, it's comical to look at some of the other shows that were nominated in that category during the timeframe The Wire was on: CSI, Joan of Arcadia, Grey's Anatomy, House, Boston Legal, Heroes.  just network schlock.  and i'm giving a pass to other shows that, while not my cup of tea, had big supporters, good reviews, and legit claims for nominations (West Wing, Dexter, Lost, Damages).  but no love for a show that many now believe is the greatest series ever produced in the history this medium.

and yeah, this shit more than holds up some 20 plus years since it's debut.

    This America, man

i just wrapped up my ~8th viewing of the series. there’s a hole inside me every time it ends. what a show. best show i’ve ever seen by a thousand miles. every single time i go through it i just pick up on more and more details. it’s aston ding how much substance they packed into five seasons.

it’s also amazing how the show manages to make me hate these guys:

more than i hate a bunch of cold blooded killers and gangsters.

These two really highlight the dick-ensian aspect of the newspaper industry

My only complaint is that, aside from a few main guys (Winters, Nixon, Donnie Wahlberg, maybe a couple others), I never had a good sense of which guy was which and what their rank/role was. There's a ton of characters and a lot of the time they're wearing helmets, faces are super dirty, etc. For example, Michael Fassbender was in an early episode I was like "oh, cool, early career Michael Fassbender". Then he disappeared (I guess?) and I forgot he was in it, and he reappeared in one of the last episodes. Not a big deal, just a nitpick, but I did feel like there were quite a few scenes where a character is portrayed as "one of the guys", or they're really sad about his death or something, and I'm sitting there thinking "wait who tf is that?".

My wife has a difficult time keeping track of multiple characters, as well

I saw a comedian do a bit on this. Its been years now, but the premise is what you describe here.

He had a Seinfeld-like delivery  Paraphrasiing: 'you know , in my next life, Im returning as a gay man.  Think about, all i ever want is sex anyhow...how bad could it be, i get to have to sex, leave immediately, nobody gets mad. Spend my time in the gym,  sit around in cafes in a bright,  tight muscle shirt, no one thinks twice, they just say he must be gay.  I hang out with guys anyway, watch sports all day, in and out of partners, those gay guys are on to something'.

    Greg Giraldo. Great bit.

aint nobody got time for super bowl, CFP, Final Four, etc in fucking Buffalo.

maybe concert tours but they should take the savings and build a 14,000 seat arena for concerts.

There’s already a 19,000 seat arena in downtown Buffalo
