  1. Really hope it shakes out that they both go in the 1st. We need to break the streak of no first rounders. It's unbelievable we haven't had a guy go in the 1st since Malcom Brown in 2015 and haven't had multiple since 2007 with Aaron Ross and M Griffin. Just inexcusable with the amount of 1st round talent the TXHS football has produced in that stretch.
  2. There are plenty of reasons to dislike his tv personality, but this is a bullshit take. Amazing how some of you guys tell on yourselves.
  3. I guess it doesn't matter, but which one of the propaganda minsters is this?
  4. I'm with you but don't think it will ever happen. He was on the long list of finalists this year but didn't make the cut down 25 list: https://www.nfl.com/news/peyton-manning-leads-130-modern-era-nominees-for-pro-football-hall-of-fame-class He was incredible for those Steelers teams but you are right about his role. Just didn't produce numbers so it's hard to point to how great he was aside from team defense success and NFL people just personally vouching for it. Glad he had a good long career and a couple rings. Reminds me what a defensive line we had his senior year though. Hampton & Rodgers in the middle with Redding and Kalen Thornton at the ends and a young Marcus Tubbs on the depth chart. That's over 30 years of NFL experience just with the first 3 guys.
  5. This is probably a dumb question, but the NCAA governs rules for players transferring between two schools in different conferences, but individual conferences are allowed to set their own eligibility requirements for any intra-conference transfers? I seem to remember some conferences trying to impose longer periods you had to sit (2 years) to discourage transferring in-conference but I didn't realize conferences could actually have more player friendly rules than the NCAA.
  6. What Tex said about Money. About the NFL, I guess it's possible but based on what we've seen so far Smith is more likely to portal and Whittington medically retire than both have good enough seasons to declare early. I can see Moore having a big season and declaring but all three is extremely unlikely. The numbers will work themselves out even if we aren't sure how. We won't have 12 returning WRs going into 2022, guys will portal out. Whether that's Sark actively processing or players just looking up at 5 guys on the depth chart and wanting to go somewhere to get some PT before their eligibility runs who knows. Point is if we can sign 4 or 5 elite WRs I don't' think there is any way numbers at the position will stop us.
  7. Yeah, it's mainly just that he's gotten so big. I commented on one of those offseason workout pictures that he looks more like a linebacker at this point, I'm a little surprised that's not where he's getting a look. I guess if he's really only around 200 lbs that's kind of a non-starter but if Owens doesn't have the agility/hips to play safety it's hard for me to imagine that Schooler does at this point. It's a smart (and low-risk) roster move though.
  8. Hopefully it doesn't really matter where Schooler does his position drills during the week. He can be contributor on special teams but if we're forced into giving him real PT at safety we're probably pretty screwed regardless.
  9. Sort of like the “fire tom Herman” thread where those same fans talk shit about the program?
  10. Guy tried to blame the announcing partner at first, didn't work so he puts out a statement about how good a guy he is and also blames diabetes. He just can't imagine what happened to make him say that about a bunch of high schoolers girls. What a mystery!
  11. Reminder that Maalik is playing a real football game tonight: https://www.the562.org/2021/03/12/high-school-football-preview-long-beach-poly-vs-gardena-serra/ I was considering driving down to check it out but only parents and family are allowed. Apparently there is a stream on something called "Fox Sports Prep Zone".
  12. Cosmi wasn't on anyone's radar as a generational athletic freak coming out of HS: It's hard to say if that was just a missed evaluation from the beginning or if Yancy's program gets credit for adding the weight/strength he needed to become an NFL draft prospect while still retaining his athleticism. Sam certainly gets a lot of the credit himself for busting his ass. It's probably all somewhere in the middle. Some guys like Cosmi were really well served by Yancy while other guys (Ingram, Jake Smith, Sweat) probably develop better athletically in a different strength program.
  13. Ultimately I don't think it would have mattered when Eagles declared. The guy is just not a very natural pass catcher, aside from the bad hands he also just never really had the body control and coordination to track the football and make plays. I'm sure that goes into what makes his hands "bad" in the first place. Really tantalizing size/speed combo but I don't think he could have learned those things even with an extra year. Sark would have probably had him put up some numbers though.
  14. Well this may finally be a bridge too far for me:
  15. Yeah this is my point. The shade of the orange could of gotten at least a page worth of attention on a better day.
  16. It's sucks that it will get lost because of the weird lame duck season but his OSU game was an all-timer. That was as dominant an individual defensive performance as I've ever seen a Texas player have. Not to mention he was hurt the week before and probably wasn't even 100%. 12 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 FF, 1 FR. The last sack was a walk-off.
  17. Too bad it's not another boring day on the thread where these could have been the main talking point. The orange could be a little more burnt, but I still need a pair.
  18. Based on what we saw last year, Tarik Black at 4.53 makes the entire list of 40 results suspect.
  19. I believe you but can you post the link from where you are pulling those #s from? I can't seem to find it. A 4.4 (even on a fast track) and the rest of those testing numbers will be plenty to get him drafted in the 4th/5th. If he can stay on the field and get his head right he may even stick around.
  20. Those numbers are pretty surprising to me. Even his freshman year when he was actually making plays his speed and explosiveness never really popped off the screen. I was prepared for him to run like a 4.65 today.
