  1. I had a lengthy convo with my builder this week considering the predicted freeze this week. His suggestion was that if it’s going to be below freezing for a protracted length of time and there is decent fear of losing power (thus your pumps can’t run) then you should turn all your equipment breakers off and drain all the pumps and lines as able.
  2. Yep, we planned that area with that in mind. The dirt inside the curb will get covered in decomposed granite to combat mud, and the galvanized poles will support a fence that will screen the equipment off from the rest of the yard. We wanted enough room in there to store the pole net, brush, chlorine, some floats, etc.
  3. The pool contractor is emphatic that the plaster is the last thing that goes in. In fact, he's strongly suggested that we get the landscape/grass installed before he plasters. He has been very meticulous and careful so far, so I'm not too concerned that he'll screw the deck up. Also, we will probably wait to stain/seal the deck until everything else is done.
  4. Status update. Tile is grouted, pool is prepped for plaster. Fireplace remodel is complete and decking is going down. Also equipment install is beginning:
  5. Will someone please remind me of the website that has all the info about best practices for maintenance? Easy something pools, or something like that? Also, I just got an updated statement from my contractor and it looks like we're only gonna be ~15% over the original bid, which I'm not really upset about because of all the shit we've changed/added along the way.
  6. My guess is we go the way of Italy, which is now requiring everyone to show proof of vaccination (I'm unsure if that includes booster(s)) in order to be in public. The other option is to show proof of 'recent infection'. Not too sure how that works, but apparently that is what they are doing.
  7. I think this has pretty much been covered, but my anecdotal experience is that vaccination status does not seem to be affecting rather or not people get omicron. I know people with zero, one, two & three shots who have all gotten it and for the most part their symptoms seem to all be similar. The disclaimer is that those I know who are unvaxxed and gotten it are young and healthy.
  8. This was basically my experience (2x vaxxed, not boosted,) I started feeling shitty on Dec 23. Body aches, headache, fatigue, low grade fever. Tested negative at home that day. Went to the doc in a box on the 24th and got tested for flu, Covid and strep, negative for all 3. About a week later, my wife and daughter started showing symptoms and they both tested positive, so I tested again through a health care provider and was, still negative.
  9. Yes, so many pipes. Water falls, pop-up floor cleaners, spa jets, pool skimmers, cleaning robot, auto fill … not sure what all else is in there.
  10. I wonder how under reported Omicron positives are? Anecdotally, I know a few dozen people who have tested positive for Covid over the last month using home tests. They recovered and went on about their lives, but no medical professional tested them, so they wouldn't be included in any official count. FWIW, most of these people believe they got the Omicron because their symptoms match up with those reported for Omicron out of South Africa. (mostly upper respiratory symptoms and lacking the chest/lung pain and lost of taste/smell associated with Alpha and Delta)
  11. It’s been over a month since my last update. Work ground to a halt over the holidays and just resumed this week. The substructure and gravel for the teak deck is in and the waterline tile has been installed. Deck install starts tomorrow and I think he wants to start plaster soon. He still has to put the pad for the equipment and get all that installed.
  12. I’m going Wed - Fri next week. Haven’t been since pre-Covid. I’m interested to see how it’s different. I’m guessing I’m gonna want to bring my vax card to get in some places?
  13. I'm looking at these for my wife. I spec'ed one out on GMC's website and it pointed me to a page where you could find already built ones that are close to what you want. I made several call to dealers all over the state that the website showed to have them in stock. Like a broken record it was always "Oh that's the owner's wife's vehicle and not for sale, but it has to stay on the website because it's technically still in our inventory" and a lot of similar comments. The local dealer I talked to said he has 30 people on his waitlist for one and he's getting one in every 3 weeks or so ... by that math I'm looking at early 2023 before it's my turn. I'd be curious if you find one, I'd be interested to know how you went about it.
  14. Curious what your order date was? I have a Badlands on order with an order date of 1/21/21 and I haven't received a VIN yet, nor any update on completion. I had to re-order a 22 model because I refused to switch to a soft top, but I was assured that I wouldn't "lose my place in line."
  15. Forms are in for the concrete substructure for the wood deck [emoji51]
  16. A friend of mine is an OU donor. The AD called and asked to use his plane to get Kiffen an interview. His response was, no, he is not a culture fit for OU, get someone else's plane.
  17. Let me just take this moment to apologize ...
  18. Progress after 3 weeks of waiting for coping /pavers to arrive. Trucking/Shipping costs are a real bitch these days …
  19. Saw this article this morning. Apparently the new 5G rollout is gonna f-up ground radar in aircraft equipped with it. Question for those of you who fly aircraft that have it, how much do you use it and is it as critical to operations as the article makes it sound? https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2021/november/04/planned-5g-rollout-risks-aviation-safety?utm_source=epilot&utm_medium=email I won't copy the whole article here, but here's the headline: With smooth functioning of the national airspace system during the holiday travel season hanging in the balance, two of several companies authorized to activate 5G wireless networks in early December that could disrupt safe air navigation agreed to delay that activation by one month to further evaluate concerns that have been expressed by aviation advocates for years.
  20. You guys makes sure you have your hedges in place, I'm buying some production, which means prices are gonna tank once we close.
  21. It used to be a little bbq area that I believe was original to the house, you can see it intact in this post: We're going to repurpose it as a small outdoor fireplace.
  22. It's gunnite day at my house. They showed up at 6:30a and started spraying. I'll grab a pic when they're done tonight.
  23. Dykes isn't going to Lubbock. He's already tried his hand at a middling school in a P5 conference (Cal) and it didn't end well. He's a family man now and I know for a fact that his wife and kids are quite happy in Dallas (and that shit matters). Lastly, SMU can afford to keep him around until a top tier P5 school comes calling, which is why I think he says put for now. Traylor is the only name I've seen in this thread that makes any sense. Maybe Cumbie (but I doubt it)
