  1. Trump probably asked him to do it. He thinks the cheaper the oil the better for American manufacturing. He's a simple-minded creature, not smart enough to think that what might temporarily help Michigan, will destroy TX, OK and ND.
  2. It's not necessarily that most of them like him. They like that he makes the blue team angry. Nothing really matters to them more than making the lives of their political opponents miserable. His supporters would burn down their own house with themselves in it if Hillary Clinton were in the other room. To me that makes them more repugnant than Trump himself, he's the symptom, not the cause.
  3. Trump's gonna be pissed when he realized Texas has 33 more electoral votes than West Virginia.
  4. Coal's biggest competitor is Natural Gas. Cheap natural gas means more domestic power is generated by NG, replacing coal's spot. In the short term, this is really bad for coal. You could make an argument that a massive slash in shale cap ex will in the longer term lead to higher commodity prices due to less supply which would be a boon for coal as it would be a cheaper option than NG to generate power.
  5. I'm guessing they are second guessing their Double Eagle acquisition.
  6. I'd be much more concerned about catching other viruses in Port A over spring break. Itchier ones.
  7. Blackstone Minerals laid off 25% of their office including a couple of execs who we're thought to be untouchable. It's hard our there on the streets.
  8. I would highly recommend reading "Den of Thieves" if you have not already. Great book about Milken and his cronies insider trading in the 80's. Insane amounts of money. Great read.
  9. Ohh see I disagree. He gives them everything they want (continuation of Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama America) without all of the Trump baggage of incivility. That group is happy enough with their lives and they don't want to break things to start over like the MAGA and Bernie crowds.
  10. The 2018 blue wave was in large part to suburban white women. They will be needed for the dem candidate to have any chance. These are moderate to conservative women who despise Trump, but I am guessing they would never vote for a socialist.
  11. Y'all are both right. The question is do the energized college kids outweigh the anti-socialist suburban whites or visa versa. Only one way to find out. I'm predicting the suburban whites would give Trump a landslide, because death, taxes and young people don't vote.
  12. Geez, what an embarrassment. Bet he likes gay stuff like fancy mustard and international agreements. BORING!!
  13. I thought NAPE was well attended given the circumstances. I felt bad for how many landmen and land brokers who I talked to who were struggling, knowing that things probably aren't going to be picking up anytime in the near future. Most people I talked with had a pretty good sense of what was going on, certainly still a handful though with the "this is just the cycle" comments thinking it will pick right back up. Lots of "what's next" conversations about the post-shale world where oil demand continues to grow and as an industry we have to replace 4-5MMb/d every year to keep up with decline curves. There is going to be money to be made somewhere. GOM, Alaska, conventional, efficient shale once the debt holders are wiped out?
  14. I bet ol' Dennis feels pretty damn comfortable using the N-word still when he is at the hunting camp with his buddies.
  15. I'm sorry, I must have missed something. Investigate him for what?
  16. But Lamar Alexander told me he learned his lesson?
  17. So Trump and Trump's base (Republicans) no longer respect Army Generals, the Military, the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, the DOJ or civil servants. They worship Trump and the Flag. Everybody else can go fuck themselves.
  18. That poll must have left out respondents from Houston and Midland.
  19. AB, I read your post quickly and literally interpreted the exact opposite of what you were trying to say. Please disregard my response and may God have mercy on my soul.
  20. Ya, ya, ya and Obama was against gay marriage in 2004, I'd say he did a great job in promoting LGBT rights as a President though. I would go ahead and gamble my mortgage that DOMA and Roe v. Wade are in way more danger if Trump gets to pick Ginsberg's replacement rather than Bloomberg. If Bloomberg has a better chance at beating Trump than Bernie or Warren, I honestly don't give a fuck what he said or did in 2005, I care about what he would do in 2020. I think we all know what Trump will do and it ain't good.
  21. I was, and I would suppose others here but don't want to speak for them, referring to Bloomberg being the most electable in the general election vs. Trump, no doubt he is a long shot in the primaries.
