Bit of a late reply here, but I'd write it, and let me explain why:

On principle, what happened to him is a simply intolerable attack on every American's tentative hold on "freedom" despite how much I might despise his personal politics and behavior.

As much as I totally get the desire for retribution as a visceral response to what the Trump admin has done/is doing, refusing to stand up for the rights of people you dislike doesn't make you a hero, quite the opposite in fact. The reality is, despite this guy's seemingly incredibly annoying behavior, his rights are your rights and the entire nefarious purpose behind Culture War Politics™ is to divide the population along these clear ideological lines in the sand and convince us that staying behind your line no matter what is more important than standing up for the rights of someone that's on the other side of it.

This isn't just conjecture, we've already seen plenty of examples of this on this very message board, including this discussion right here and the people who were openly celebrating pro-Palestinian activists getting black bagged by the feds for constitutionally protected speech.

We're past the point of doing right because it's right. If he stays here he will vote (or loudly support and campaign) the same way next time. First the enemy has to be defeated then we can go back to being fair and good to everyone. I'm well aware it is not the righteous thing to do, but I'm not the one who made it necessary.

When facing an existential threat the only duty is to win.

27 out of the 32 picks were rated as 4 or 5 star recruits coming out of HS.  That's pretty impressive to me.

There are 250 four stars every year. That's not impressive at all. 27 of 250 being elite is like saying every team drafts great because 27 out of 32 all-pros were drafted and only 5 were UDFA. Numerically it's pretty much exactly the same.

Again, every single 4 star you see in that list is a 5 star whiff based on their own stated metric.

Because it's all legislative intent, which is murky shit.  And, taking your example to the extreme, maybe it was only intended to give citizenship to blacks who were born here.

Nonetheless, I think the answer is relatively clear, but because it's relatively clear doesn't mean it's certain to come out that way, because Calvinball.

Those who claim the outcome is certain according to their desired outcome without engaging in analysis are as bad as those who engage in bad analysis to obtain their desired outcome.

If these people aren't subject to United States jurisdiction he can't arrest them and deport them to an El Salvador prison so which is it? It is plainly obvious to anyone who can read that the phrase means members of sovereign tribes, children of diplomatic envoys, etc. aren't intended to be covered and that's it.

It's really kind of impressive in a weird way to watch your ability to maintain an elite level of cognitive dissonance.

Jose Altuve, in left field- is 2 outs above average. I told everyone he’d be fine if he could catch the ball and I expected him to do so, he has. He went from maybe the worst defensive player in baseball in his position to above average/ that’s what the move to LF was about and it’s paying dividends.

It's almost like this should have been the obvious result even in the midst of all the usual spring training panic.

Inspired me to look back at the recruiting accuracy for the 1st round.  A couple blaring misses, but the rest were pretty spot on.  Recruit info is from 247

    image.thumb.png.75c3d097a134cb44fe3b0f9c155199ac.png

I wouldn't say that's spot on. It's 11 out of 32 that they hit. Remember, they do extremely stupid stuff like downgrading recruits as COLLEGE PROSPECTS because they don't think they are what a prototypical PROFESSIONAL left tackle or edge rusher looks like.

I don't give a fuck if someone is a prototypical NFL position-specific prospect if he's going to be a badass in college at that position. So if they're going to do stupid shit like downgrade incredible college prospects because they're not incredible NFL prospects then they better at least get that right.

Here are the top 10 2021 247 recruits:

    #1 Quinn Ewers - 7th round
    #2 JT Tuimolau - 2nd round
#3 Korey Foreman - Still in college transferred from USC to Fresno State because he sure as shit isn't a first round pick
#4 Leonard Taylor - Undrafted free agent signed with Jets
    #5 JC Latham - #7 overall pick 2024
    #6 Jack Sawyer - 4th round
    #7 Donovan Jackson - #24 overall
    #8 Caleb Williams - #1 overall 2024
    #9 Emeka Egbuka - #19 overall
#10 Tommy Brockermeyer - lol no

4 out of 10 were first round picks. This is the cream of the crop, the ones they spend the most time on, when they tell everyone that they rank based on NFL projection. Which, of course, is stupid because their subscribers care about college football. And they still can't bat .500 on the most heavily scrutinized prospects.

Look, overall you want better classes. Throw them all in a bucket and you'll be much better off signing a bunch of top prospects. But that graphic is terribly misleading. Every single one of those 4-stars you see is a miss. And I haven't even gotten into shit like Walter Nolen who the NFL drafted on projection and sure as shit wasn't a 5-star college player.

Ways Democrats can win back the independents and win in 2028:

    • Find the next Bill Clinton. A Southern, conservative Democratic statesman who isn't afraid of distancing himself from the fringe, identity-politic morons* who keep setting us up to fail by handing easy talking points to the Republicans.
    • Find the next Ann Richards. An outspoken, Southern** conservative, gun-totin' woman who Americans can love with a big social heart and an even bigger semi-automatic rifle.
    • Make Hispanic Americans the priority. Hispanics are feeling taken for granted and have been migrating to the Republicans. Hispanics represent approx. 25% of the populace. Hola!
    • Be better at embracing new media. Republicans ran circles around Democrats in 2024 in understanding how new media feels more trustworthy to Americans today than traditional platforms.

It's not that hard and the margin wasn't that great. Biden/Harris ran a shit-show of a campaign and lost the independents, but they should be hoppin' mad by 2027 and ready to be won over.

*You can fight for dramatic social change in the United States or you can win an election. You can't do both.

** Candidate could also be from Pennsylvania, or Ohio, which is kinda like the South. Not Utah. That place is weird.

This is a very stupid post. I'm starting to realize that people should complain less about your AI image posts because when you try to think it's invariably a disaster.

Who are the identity politics morons in the Democratic Party you're referring to? They don't exist in any quantity that matters but your mushy brain thinks they do because Republicans say so. The GOP is the party of identity politics.

Your entire post that you think is fresh new thinking is exactly what Democrats have been doing to lose for decades.

No shit?  Aside from the initials followed by number string, is there any real Aggie that doesn’t have some aggy identifier in their handle?

I know most people realized it but I was providing a public service because bots are pretty damn good at faking A&M online behavior. It's almost understandable to get fooled by one in that situation because hive mind cultists are the easiest to fake.

Mo’s career high for inning pitched in a season was 107. He had one other season in his career over 80 and only two others over 75.

DV should definitely pitch 3 days in a row though and 80 pitches every weekend. Seems smart

And his most appearances in a season was 74. Out of 162.

A bit less than every day.

Not quite the 16 or over 12.5 that @Wulaw Horn predicted, but still another great showing for Texas. The Ewers fall is fucking ridiculous. Multiple shittier QBs went ahead of him and I feel bad for the guy. Happy for everyone else drafted. In the end, CWilliams will sign for more (annually) than he would have gotten for coming back, but it still might have made more sense for him if he wasn’t so worried about his knees.

It should be interesting for the draft in 2026. Assuming Manning comes back, what are we looking at?

    -Campbell

    -Hill

    -Taaffe

    -Moore

    -Guilbeau

    -McDonald

    -Burke

    -Spence

    -Shaw

    -Brevard

    -Wisner

    -Hutson

    -Robertson

    -Goosby

    -Moore Jr.

    -Baxter

Not saying all of those guys leave, or that they’re all NFL draft material. Just accounting for guys off the top of my head who could be a candidate with a good year. Seems like 6-8 will happen pretty easily and it could go double digits again with big years.

Absolutely correct on Ewers. He obviously didn't deserve to be a consensus #1 prospect mainly because of processing speed which is what recruiting services are the worst at identifying. But he is and was much better than some of the guys who went before him.

Exactly. The word "nearly" is doing a lot of work in his post considering it's about the possibility of Texas A&M finding a way to lose.
