2024 Playoffs Round 1: Clemson at Texas
Don't ask. Just be glad we can be terrible along with our opponents.

I was actually thinking of this yesterday. It added to the frustration of not putting Georgia away in the first half. An extra 11 days off for a total of 3.5 weeks would have been amazing for our banged up squad.

Wasn't there some rule for a while that to be FBS you had to average 30k official attendance (meaning tickets sold)? Or am I making that up?

2024 Big 12 Championship - Iowa State vs. Arizona State
Yeah I saw you posted that well before the announcement. I think Boise State should be the 12th seed but with Jeanty they're a media darling.

Eight or Nine Game SEC Schedule
So yeah, they claimed there was a structure and then did whatever. And one game against a conference foe in 12 seasons can't really be considered a serious rotating format anyway.

Actually the most I remember hearing it this year was when they were trying to hype Hawkins before the OU game. And the media always loves to just believe whatever OU's program says about how great their players are.

2024 Playoffs Round 1: Clemson at Texas
Unsurprisingly I saw him looking lost several times but he did better when he was just firing out man on man. Hell of a time for a first start.

That's absurd. What if Boise State had beaten Oregon (extremely possible with how that game played out)?

They shouldn't have gotten a bye because they're overranked, but that should have nothing to do with it. The conferences aren't playing the playoff, teams are.

I would love to see Texas play Georgia again.

Eight or Nine Game SEC Schedule
You haven't paid much attention to how the SEC schedules. They do whatever the fuck they want, there is no rotation or format or structure. Texas A&M has played Georgia ONE TIME in 13 seasons. The SEC will continue with an 8 game schedule and we will still play OU, Texas A&M, and Arkansas every year.

Using my ratings (homefield advantage considered for first round games - I used a slightly inflated figure of 3.5 points because the crowds should be rocking and weather impacts on cross-sectional games, totally ad hoc but they're my ratings so there) Those P(SF) values being highest for Texas and Penn State are what people are angry about (and probably should be). Using my compromise where the Top 4 conference champs are only guaranteed at least a home game it makes things seem more "fair" while still incentivizing conference championships:

It's true about Sankey and Swarbrick, but Klatt and pretty much everyone else are significantly underestimating the benefit of the bye right now. It's weird that's they're all complaining about weaker conference champions getting byes because they're so valuable then acting like Oregon with a bye is screwed.

Gross, that would be the worst possible thing to do. I'm sure it will someday be at least considered, but if I wanted to watch the NFL I would watch the NFL.

I disagree that the 12 should be straight seeded. I think the top 4 conference champs should be guaranteed a bye OR home game because they just traveled to a CCG. So in my solution it's: 1. Oregon versus 9. Tennessee @ 8. Arizona State winner 2. Georgia versus 10. Indiana @ 7. Boise State winner 3. Texas versus 11. SMU @ 6. Ohio State winner 4. Penn State versus 12. Clemson @ 5. Notre Dame winner I completely support rewarding conference championships. They mean a lot in college football and they SHOULD mean a lot.
