  1. Yup, @slorch is right about small towns being centered on these schools. If/when the voucher system is passed then you'll see rural schools with less money but they'll still have football so what will it matter if they have to use outdated textbooks or the schools cycle through terrible teachers because they pay $40,000/year?

  8. Xochimilco is halfday but you can make it a full by adding Coyoacán with it. Teotihuacán is a nice hike away from the city so that would definitely get you out if you just wanna see the state of Mexico for some reason. I've been a few times but I've never avoided getting an upset stomach. However I also am the type to say yes to the lady rowing a small canoe with a comal and chile rellanos at Xochimilco. It ain't gonna kill you and usually takes a couple days to start in my case. I'm almost always home when the good stuff starts. On cash I usually just have BoA send me some small bills before hand and almost everyone takes cards outside of street vendors. There are ATMs everywhere if you need them and have a card that doesn't charge you foreign fees.
  9. Well that seems like a positive development

  14. I was reading about Edmonton when I posted their -30 degree high today and they never cancel school because of weather. Not because they're that tough but because one-time decades ago they had cancelled school and a parent didn't know and sent their kid who couldn't get into the school and they froze to death so now, no matter how bad it is the schools still operate. Their school buses usually stop operating when the wind chill hits -22F (-30C) though.
  15. Yeah after his questioning of the state's argument yesterday it would be a shock if he didn't let them off.

  21. 2 minutes ago 2 minutes ago Jonah BromwichReporting from inside the courtroom Engoron says that he knows everyone is anxious to get a decision. He says he will do his best to issue a final decision in the case by Jan. 31. He says it’s not a promise or a guarantee, but he’s reasonably confident he’ll be able to meet that deadline.
