  1. I have the same question, except with a short/stocky build, off the rack stuff usually doesn't fit me well. I need something more custom. Any specific places for me to go in Frisco/Plano area that can tailor a decent suit without breaking the bank?
  2. Yeah this is what I'm having to do to get LHN for the first game. Just sign-up for a free trial of ATTTvNow or PS Vue, and cancel when the game's over.
  3. 3.0. Drive by wire has been fine, I think they made some refinements to it between ‘15 and ‘16. Gas mileage obviously is very dependent on traffic and driving conditions, but right now I’m at 24.9. My driving is mainly just commute to/from work, which is about 15 miles of tollway with 2 miles of surface roads. I go in early to work, so I miss the worst of rush hour traffic.
  4. I bought a used 2016 about a year and a half ago from Carvana, had about 25k miles at the time, otherwise mint condition. Loved it so far. The engine is great, really smooth, with responsive easy power when you need it. Haven’t messed around with any mods, but it came fully loaded so I haven’t felt the need. Happy to answer any other questions.
  5. Yeah, this is our gameplan, go to the one furthest away first, and progressively head toward the hotel. Also gonna do my best to 'drink like an adult' and not get sorority-girl wasted during the day. We'll maybe let loose at the last one on the last day. Drive in the morning, Uber in the afternoon also a solid plan.
  6. Wife and I will be doing the Napa Valley side in a couple weeks. What's the best way to get around winery hopping? We're going to do ~3 wineries a day for 2 days, and they're not right next to each other. Are Uber's going to be ridiculously priced? We'll have a rental car, but I don't want to be in charge of driving. We're not doing one of those tour vans cuz we wanted some control over which ones we go to.
  7. This is what I'm thinking. Fly into San Jose, drive straight to Big Sur, stay the night. Drive to Carmel next day, stay the night. Drive to SF, stay 2 nights. Drive to Napa, stay 2 nights. Fly home from SFO or OAK. Would that feel rushed? I could probably add an 8th day if necessary, which I guess we would spend in SF.
  8. Thanks for all the tips guys, tons of great ideas here, will have to bookmark this for planning the next vacation. I think you've sold me on the SF/Napa/Carmel thing. If we have 7 days, which includes the day we land and the day we return, is it too much to try and squeeze in Napa + Carmel/Big Sur? I figure we'll stay in SF a couple days, then take off north or south, but I'd really like to do both if it's not unreasonable.
  9. Sure. My only concern there is not having much to do. Don't want to go lay on the beach every day for a week. If there are some fun islands, I'm all ears.
  10. I have 3 weeks until my 10 year anniversary and I need to plan a trip. Last-minute planning due to not being able to find a taker for the kids (now resolved). So for those with more travel experience than me, if you could pick one city to spend a week (not NY, been there), what would it be? Some preliminary ideas (but definitely not limited to these) are: San Diego, San Francisco, Savannah, Charleston, Chicago. We're not too picky, we like breweries/wineries/beaches/historical sites/good food and nightlife. Somewhere with interesting areas that are walkable with restaurants/bars/other points of interest. A nice balance of sightseeing and relaxation. I'll hang up and listen.
  11. This has been the biggest unintended benefit I've seen from cord-cutting. It's been extremely liberating not feeling like there was something I 'had' to watch. Way more free time in the evenings. Got a guitar for Christmas and strum on that for a while every night, tons more satisfying.
  12. I agree with that sentiment for the most part, as the football team generates tons of revenue and exposure for the entire university. But come on, $480,000 just for coaching TE's? This guy is in charge of 3 guys on the entire team. I know this is all of D1 football and not specific to Clemson, but still a little ridiculous.
  13. Don't know if they're still offering it, but if you have cell phone service thru AT&T, DirectvNow offered a nice discount on the TV packages. I think I'm paying $20/month for Live a Little plan with free HBO.
  14. True, but the handshake between Samsung TVs and other devices with the HDMI ARC is notoriously shaky. I use the same setup with my system (Samsung TV to Apple TV and Fire TV), and sometimes the power button works, sometimes it doesn't, with no apparent rhyme or reason. But volume control usually works fine.
  15. Yeah we have an old iPhone loaded with the Zello app, allows the phone to be used as a walkie-talkie on wifi, the phone does not have cell service. Have the rest of the phone parentally locked down so they can only use it to talk to us when we're out of the house.
  16. Yeah I haven’t had a landline since my college dorm. I can’t imagine why you would need it when you have a phone in your pocket at all times.
  17. Exactly. The more they charge, the more people will cut back, and the more people cut back, the more they realize they can live without. If it came down to it, I could survive just fine on the OTA stuff I get for free with a $30 antenna. Just find a way to bootleg the handful of UT games a year that I need cable for. Turns out I don't have the time, nor the want-to anymore, to watch 250+ channels and 8 different tv series spread across 4 different platforms. It's actually extremely liberating.
  18. If I had a nickel for every time we were “good on paper”, I’d have like, a dollar.
  19. Yeah part of the point of cord-cutting is to purge a lot of those channels you don’t need. You’ll be surprised how much you don’t miss them, and won’t even notice they’re gone after a few days.
  20. Yep, the dvr is trying to set the record for world's longest beta test.
