  1. Pretty good game 5 day yesterday. Today we’re just playing the number at Rays +250. They probably don’t win, but that’s too high.
  2. They were going to save money by going AirBnB and driving. Dumbass.
  3. You can’t play him the way he describes his hypothetical, he’s saying he knows about the cheating but the cheater doesn’t know that. But he’s still very wrong. It might be good for a hero call or two, then any idiot with God Mode would just lean on you until you’re broke.
  4. Cardinals to win game 5 at +101. Nats/Strasburg at +135 is also a play, but I have the series bet above already riding. Might make a small play to increase my liability to a full unit.
  5. Don’t order brisket anywhere, stick to ribs and burnt ends and you have some reasonably good options. It’s not central Texas at the high end or in depth of choices, but it’s not Rudy’s either.
  6. The analogy isn't perfect, clearly. On the morality front, I personally think the most immoral thing we do is force elite high school players to go to college by having rules against them turning pro in exactly two sports...coincidentally the two sports that make ass-piles of cash for the NCAA and ADs nationwide. If you're a stud in hockey or baseball or downhill skiing, you can get paid right away. And not only do we artificially limit their ability to make money, we systemically funnel them to a college campus for 7 months so Duke fans can buy #1 jerseys while #1 is "paid" (over the table) the exact same amount as a women's rower. It's gawd-dammed unAmerican.
  7. Grabbing the Nats to win the series for +190. They should absolutely be a moderate underdog, but that's too much. 0.8U lay.
  8. Rays +120 in the wild card game tonight.
  9. Sent info for 3rd. See ya'll at the draft in a few months.
  10. I mean, it depends entirely on how you view college sports. Do you have a romantic view of amateur athletics or do you see it as a $15B industry? At the major college level, the notion of a student-athlete as been somewhere between bastardized and dead for decades. The schools being served NOAs over this FBI case are the cars getting pulled over on a highway where everybody is speeding. It sucks, and "keeping up with traffic" isn't a legal defense, but it's also not a reason to tear down the athletic department before fighting the ticket.
  11. It's different because the shoe companies are paying guys all over the place but fixing that would be devastating to the NCAA's bottom line.
  12. Yeah, it doesn’t bother me for college teams when you attended the school, there is a legitimate connection there. Drives me insane with pro teams, though.
  13. Late to this, but I’ll answer. I’m the pitching coach for an 11U select team. I think you’re talking too much about mechanics. At 9U, everything about pitching is new, so you have to be as simple as possible. Stretch only, teaching and enforcing first balance...can they leave the lead leg up and hold it without falling over. Fastball only with whatever grip the kid likes. Teach them to pitch in a straight line to the mitt from that balance position, stride/arm/etc. That’s it for mechanics at 9U Fall. Follow through, backside, and anything but the most egregious mechanical mistakes are for later.
  14. I don’t think so. Missouri cooperated with the NCAA and got hammered. I think you tell them to fuck off, their allegation are garbage, and dig in for a long battle. LOIC and the Self stuff will be pretty hard to make stick with only what came up in the Gassnola trial, him claiming coaches didn’t know under oath, and KU having a history of self reporting violations and sitting guys with eligibility question marks (of which they’ve had too many). So make them prove it, without the FBI’s subpoena power. KU isn’t clean, nobody getting players worth a damn is clean, but this NOA makes me glad the NCAA tried to shoot the moon to make an example...much larger attack surface to fight against. If they make Billy Preston a centerpiece, the NCAA is as incompetent as we’ve always suspected.
  15. Cardinals -105 tonight in Wrigley.
  16. Did you not listen to the dude’s story, Donny? There was peace and quiet.
  17. I don’t mean for this to sound homerish but it might. Retention and graduation rate have always killed KU in these ratings, because until recently they had to accept anybody with a pulse as long as they were a graduate of a Kansas high school...and most schools in Kansas suck. The regents tied KU’s entrance requirements to all the state schools, so if you could get into Fort Hays State you could get into KU. KU fought it for years, because it limited out of state entrants and led to a staggering amount of dumbasses with no chance of graduating or even making it to their junior year. That finally changed but only went into effect 3 years ago. You still don’t have to be an elite student to get it, but the full on dumbasses are better weeded out. With no change to the academic quality, I’d expect a sharp uptick in rankings as the 2016 freshmen graduate and classes behind them advance just given the calculation.
  18. I mean, I saw Miles fuck up TOs and the clock at LSU, so I knew it would come...but we burned our last two TOs on a straight forward 4th and 4 play in plus territory with like 8 minutes left. Spoiler Alert: didn’t get it
  19. I'll take the Nationals in the afternoon game today at -125.

    Tacos

Nobody agrees with me, and it’s hard to discern “best”...but that’s my favorite in Austin. In the late 00s, my office was at Shoal Creek and the 183 frontage, so Vasquez was on the way and for my call in breakfast tacos I just ordered using my name.
