During my time in Dallas (1999-2003), my work colleagues and I would go to Mattito's on Oak Lawn frequently. Where they also affiliated in some way with the original Matt's? They served Bob Armstrong.
I remember liking it. But I also was not that far removed from poor law student's taste buds.
I mean, the qualifier of a "pinch hit" Longhorn legend isn't that unfair. He came in during the final minutes against Tech in 2003 when our Vince Young-led offense had been sputtering and drove almost the length of the field for the winning TD. Off the top of my head I can't think of other late-game, coming-in-cold heroics to win us a game like that.
Yeah, four years ago I probably wouldn't paid attention to this thread. Now having gone through this with my oldest, and a sophomore and freshman in the pipeline, I genuinely get happy for all the Surly parents and their kiddos.
This I agree with. Most other years, yeah, overlook Vandy. But they're ranked 9th with a 7-1 record, and the last two weeks we've gone to overtime against two of the worst teams in the SEC. One thing we won't be doing this week and Saturday is overlooking Vanderbilt.
