    Another day, another 8"

CB web page shows snow in the forecast all week long.  Average annual snowfall is 230" for Crested Butte and they passed that last night.  Base is now sitting at 80"

damn...will be out near Pagosa early next week and it's looking kind of dry, although there could always be snow at anytime @ wolf creek.  Was considering Taos/Angel Fire as well but they're looking the same after the weekend but I think they're going to get the tip, at a minimum, this Fri/Sat...

  3. Does anyone have recommendations on attorneys that work/specialize in estates and/or specifically custodial accounts, UTMAs, etc. in the Austin area?  I've had a few people refer me to a guardianship attorney and they've basically said it's outside their expertise and I shouldn't need their services in having a custodian changed for my kid's UTMA account after a death. I think these fall out of probate court, so there's no getting a court order to assist us well.  And Merrill Lynch is being a real bitch to deal with.

I figured Hornian could help point me in the right direction but I lost his number...

I've legit never understood why people from Texas think that women from northern states are fat toads.  I've been to a grocery store in Texas and seen the scooter women.  I mean, there's plenty of hot women too, but I've never been one for assigning attractiveness to geography (with the exception of course of Lincoln, NE).

You seen chicks from jersey or ohio? Just kidding.  Sort of. I've probably been to those places too often along with Pennsylvania. Seriously though, I wasn't knocking fatties or homely chicks in the midwest or rust belt.  Please don't judge, I was "surprised" as a young, drunk idiot in his early 20's.  Watched too much MTV probably.  Now an older and wiser man of integrity, I know that big girls will work much harder for your love and will be good to you.   Never discriminate, appreciate all size ladies (a little below Vic's level though).  Nebraska has always disappointed though, as you mentioned.

I went since it's been at T Mobile, and had an absolute blast.  It didn't hurt that ISU beat KU that year to win the thing.

We stayed near the Plaza and would party in the Westport area until 2 hours before tip.  Then we'd Uber up to the Power & Light District for the final pre-game push and usually hang out for a few after the game before heading back to Westport to finish the night.

That plan might not be as great for a UT fan, because a lot of the bars in that neighborhood basically get taken over by various northern fanbases.  IE Kelly's Westport Inn is the ISU bar during the Big 12 tournament.  Lots of KU and KSU bars in that neighborhood too.  I do think people enjoy seeing the farther away fanbases show up though.

Generally, I find Westport a more fun area to hang out than P&L.  The P&L set up is really cool, but the bars/restaurants themselves are far more generic.  It's really fun getting all the fanbases mingling in one spot there.

I have fond memories of the tourneys from 1999-2003 or whenever the last year was, then moved to Dallas for a couple of years I think.  Speaking of the northern fanbases, my only experience with the ISU/KSU/KU fans were at the FEC and football games.  So never ran into large groups other than KU fans when they were in town.  I remember the 2000? tourney specifically.  I was shocked how many ISU fans showed up for it, just PACKED with them.  Their tourney games seemed like home games for them.  Even ran into and partied with some hot ISU coeds that were huge bball fans. (that may have affected my drunken view but still fun).  Was a little surprised, was expecting all large, corn fed womenz from those fanbases.  It was also the first time I'd seen hardcore tailgating for 1) basketball and 2) in balls cold ice/snow.  I think it was the year you had fucking Fizer and Tinsely.  Fuck those guys too.

Not too worried about areas that would have a lot of north fans, never really had any trouble with those group of schools.  KU fans will always be mostly pricks but wouldn't blink hanging at an ISU or other school bar/area.  Granted, all those schools hate UT a lot more than they did 20 years ago so who knows.

  6. anyone here been to the big 12 tourney last few years? Gonna try and go this yr. Used to go every year in the early 00’s with my old man when it was at Kemper. Watching Marcus Fizer push Mihm and our guys around and osu was salty with desmond mason. Also HATED and those good ou teams with najera and price. anyway, fuck those guys

I see its at t mobile now. Is that good area to stay, drink, eat, etc? better than kemper old area near the river? I remember KC always being great hosts and a good time

Don't even start looking until August.   Season ticket renewal emails haven't even come out.   Nobody (including Michigan fans) will get tix until July or August.   The only sellers are brokers short selling tix to anxious Texas fans.

I've done that last few times, even if I was allocated seats through the school.  Just sold the crappy foundation seats and put funds toward better seats.

Haven’t done an away game in a long time. I have a question about tickets.

Back when I used to go I was Longhorn Foundation with pretty high points or seniority so I would always get tickets to any game including Texas OU.

We dropped our season tickets during Covid and never picked them back up. For those of you without either season tickets, or maybe lower priority season tickets, how confident are you that you’ll find tickets to the game?

If you're not ~ 1,000 in loyalty points, I wouldn't sweat it, you probably won't be getting tix.  I used to think being top 2,000 was a humble brag until I saw where our sugar bowl tix were this year.  Now I did get decent Rose Bowl tix in 06 but got dog shit seats in Columbus that same year.  Was shut out for away game at Notre Dame.  So I assume it will be similar to that? No idea how it works but I think as long as you're top ~ 750 in loyalty points, you're probably golden anywhere (not just getting tix but getting decent ones)

  9. Weaver has played starter-level minutes in the last 3 games (28, 25, 26).
I am about as anti-Horton as one can be but it's obvious at this point that he will have to play 15 minutes a night. Need to figure out if those minutes are best served as a starter or as a 6th man where he was awful earlier in the season.

I’m fine with Horton as long as he’s taking minutes away from Brock in some way

I've only been once for skiing... here's what I can say...

    In town:

Pro: Cheaper hotels, bigger selection of hotels and you can find options with flexible terms.  Clearly closer to many many more restaurants (town goes to sleep around 8/9 PM) and markets, stores, etc.  For sure more to do.

Con: 30 minute one way drive to/from the town of Taos is not "bad" but it gets to be a slog on multi-day trips.  Service in Taos is very average... feels like they are grudgingly helping you out.

    In Taos Ski Valley:

Pro: Can't speak for the places about 2 miles in but you can't beat being on/near the slopes.  Just roll out and go skiing and its always cool being by the mountain.  Well laid out and compact base area.  Service in TSV is great... there are a few food options and the kids can sled after skiing, etc.  TSV is a great ski mountain.  Probably don't have to tell you that.

Con: From what we saw, everything is either $$$$ or the more affordable options are "non-refundable" which bites.  Searching for options is a bit of a pain in the ass since most of the lodging web pages were designed for Netscape in 1995.  Not a ton of variety for food and prices are higher though the little market by the skating rink did have good and reasonable lunch options.  Shade tends to hit early so if you think Taos rolls up the carpet at 8/9 PM, I'm sure TSV is even sooner.

    BUT

If the cost and non-refundable factor wasn't an issue, I'd probably roll with it and stay slopeside.  If you don't want to fork out the $, we liked the La Fonda de Taos because of the location and the little cafe and the staff was great.  Our friends stayed at the Wyndham/Worldmark or whatever its called and that seemed like a good option.  Inn at La Loma Plaza is a charming place... stayed there in the summer.

Thanks.  Sounds like if you want to avoid a little less hassle and overpay a bit more, staying in TSV right off the slopes can be fine.  Sounds like alot of ski resorts, ha.  Does TSV have legit ski in/ski out or is it something like unclick from your boots and then you're within 500-1,000 yards of your condo?

Thank you sir.  I actually wore my work gloves for Dropoff this morning, which was a mistake.  Actually feels colder out this morning than yesterday.

buncha teachers thanked me for allowing them stay warm inside instead of Dropoff duty, which made me Warm inside.  And then sure as shit, fucking Karen in her Tesla closes her kids door automatically and fails to move up in the line until I tap on her glass.  She says, “sorry, I was checking the weather on my phone.”  Really Karen?  How about clear skies and cold as your fucking frigid cunt.  But what I said was “hey you kids stay warm today!”

I'm using that one if anyone crosses me today...well, it's "cold as your fucking frigid cunt"
