  1. I’d wait until day of game to purchase through Stubhub. Prices will drop 30-40%
  2. I guess I’m conflating the two. No, she hasn’t. Beards lawyer indicated she wants to drop the criminal charges against him. Would she need representation in order to drop the felony charge levied against Beard? Or is it as simple as a statement to the police? Separately, I’d assume she would want representation to negotiate hush payment. A good lawyer seems prudent to handle that process. What happens if it comes out that she fabricated some portion of her police statement? That’s criminal. It seems like she should have representation in some fashion given the monetary and potentially criminal stakes involved on her end.
  3. I’m far from law dog, but who would be representing Ms. Trew? Beard has his team, UT has their lawyers, does Randi with an I get a public defender? Doesn’t seem like Beard is itching to pony up for her legal fees. It seems like the most financially prudent decision she can make is to recant and take a payout.
  4. neg reps noted from the idiot that thought Will Muschamp should the next coach for UT hoops
  5. None of these replies have convinced me that I'm clearly wrong. I may be wrong, and hope I am. I hope you allow yourself time for reflection on this program if/when we strike out on the guys at the top of the surly wishlist.
  6. I know that's not the most damning evidence, but you can read between the lines.
  7. Yes, Shaka sucked and didn't have the chops to coach here. From what I understand, he framed his departure as something to do with not receiving enough support from the fans/program. We all know the fans didn't support him because he was terrible at his job. He's not going to frame it that way when he's talking to his coaching buddies.
  8. Acknowledging the advantages Texas has over places like Arkansas & Alabama when it comes to our NIL program, facilities, and ease of recruiting. The counterweight I see, and I could be totally off base, is a perceived toxicity within the administration/basketball program. Beard and Shaka will both have left under less than graceful circumstances. I'm less certain on the details of Barnes' departure, but it's open for debate as to why he's found his stride again after moving away. I wonder if there a notion within coaching circles that the juice just ain't worth the squeeze at Texas. Beard was the perfect guy to handle the internal pressures of this job. Oates & Muss may be assessing what they've built at marginally inferior programs and come away thinking the grass isn't always greener. That's why I think we'll ultimately land a guy from a program with a much more exaggerated resource disparity than say Arkansas or Alabama.
  9. Not much going on in this thread today, now seems like an appropriate time to share an anecdote I have involving Chris Beard. Cinco de Mayo 2021 - Myself and a group of friends are drinking at a bar called Dirty Bills on West 6th. It's a popular dive bar known for, amongst other things, being the only bar in Austin that serves MD 20/20. A truly abominable drink, but a tradition to share amongst friends, especially on an occasion like Cinco de Mayo. We are perched at the back of the bar at probably 7:30 PM - it's not very crowded. In walks Chris Beard with a large posse of his coaching staff - Terry, Ogden, Jerrance Howard all there. A handful of us are UT alum/basketball fans and are rightfully excited to see our new coach at Dirty Bills of all places. We also have a cute girl with us that went to Tech. I go over to Beard and his staff to say a few pleasantries, just the typical congrats on the new job and we're excited to have you type of thing. Beard couldn't muster more than a grunt in response. I think Howard said thanks and sort of ushered me away. Another one of my buddies tries to engage and receives the same treatment. I get it, he's a high profile guy and doesn't want to be bothered by bozos at the bar. So we come up with the bright idea to have the Tech girl deliver him a neon orange MD 20/20 just to see what he does with it. She goes over to their group and is met with excitement. They take the bottle and start passing out shots to all of the coaches. They slug the thing down in like 5 minutes with Beard and our friend from Tech chatting it up the whole time. Eventually she comes back and starts gossiping. Beard indicated to her that he was single and is looking to meet people in Austin, he asked if she wanted tickets behind the Texas bench for games, basically used every trick he could to impress her. Before Beard & Co leave an assistant comes over our group and gets her number so Beard can continue texting with her about tickets. I believe they did text for a few days, but ultimately never led to anything. We thought it was awesome that Beard would show up and drink at MD20/20 at Dirty Bills, and for a minute thought we might have access to prime seats. It never crossed my mind to think he had a BSC redheaded girlfriend of four years that would ultimately lead to his downfall. I was kinda hoping my friend would start banging him.
  10. Ogden picked him up from jail and probably watched the game in his hotel room. You're the dumbass if you don't think he has some sort of channel to the coaches. No shit he's not running practice via zoom.
  11. It was probably odd that the players woke up to news that their coach is in jail. It's not hard to rationalize why we played down to our competition last night.
  12. Nash is as unrealistic as Stevens or Wright. Why would Steve Nash want to wade into the world of college basketball recruiting? That type of business is way beneath someone with the reputation of Steve fucking Nash. By all accounts he is a guy who genuinely cares about the intricacies of the game of basketball, and would take no interest in the extra curriculars required to succeed at the college level. 0% chance he is a serious candidate for this job. In my mind Texas needs an experienced coach with a track record of stability. Professional and competent should be the criteria - qualities each of our previous two coaches were seriously lacking in their own respective ways. Names like Greg McDermott, Randy Bennett, hell even Chris Mack make sense. I don't see Muss or Oates wanting to leave secure gigs at the P5 level for Texas. Our basketball program isn't appealing enough to make an arguably lateral move. It's more realistic to think we can grab a proven overachiever at the lower level and sell him our huge resource base. Ivey, Terry & a Joe Golding type are probable fall back options.
  13. Unless CDC has the ability to produce legally binding paperwork that says he can't contact the team, I'd be shocked if Beard wasn't still involved in game planning in some capacity. He'll have plenty of time to watch film, granite he finds a new pair of glasses.
  14. It would be unprecedented to bring in an entirely new coach midway through the season. That doesn't and won't happen. We're riding with the current staff, however flawed they may be.
  15. Randy Bennett at Saint Mary’s. The recruiting style he’s developed at Saint Mary’s doesn’t really translate to Texas, but the guy has built a remarkably consistent program.
  16. Terry certainly has the horses to prove he should get a crack at the full time gig. He needs to meet expectations set for this team going into the season. Second round in the tournament or get lost. The roster is built to succeed late into March. Seniors everywhere, mixed with legit NBA talent. Prove you deserve the job, Terry. It’s all right there for you.
  17. I’m prefacing by acknowledging Beard’s actions must be accounted for, he strangled his wife and must live with the consequences of that terrible action. With that, I’m curious how extensive these recordings with his wife are? It could be that he only recorded the one incident on Monday morning and very little substance comes from them. It could also be that he’s recorded multiple of these altercations over a longer period of time. Their relationship appears to have been troubled for some time. I wonder if this case takes on a Johnny Depp v Amber Heard quality where extensive audio recordings are a key evidence point in the court of public opinion. The concept of recording conversations isn’t foreign for College Basketball coaches who do shady shit in recruiting.
  18. I had a similar thought. What’s stopping him from going straight from the clink to the practice facility to meet with the team? There has been no official statement regarding his standing. I’m sure CDC has made his wishes known to Beard, but still, lots of uncertainty.
