  1. What type of work does this employee perform? The overtime rules generally depend on whether a job is "FLSA exempt" or not. Making that determination can be complex. Employees who are paid hourly and are non-supervisory are usually entitled to paid overtime (time and a half). Salaried executive or professional employees are typically FLSA exempt and can be "paid" in comp time, etc. (This is a pretty complex area and I'm not a lawyer.) Edit: below is a link describing in more detail what kinds of jobs are exempt from the FLSA overtime rules: https://www.thebalancecareers.com/what-is-an-exempt-employee-525701
  2. Why is it so fucking hard to make simple plans for a meeting or event with some people? I'm a "meet at location X at time Y" kind of guy. I'm reasonably flexible on time and location, so if what I suggest doesn't work for the other party, I'm cool with that -- but then it's incumbent on them to propose a SPECIFIC alternative time and/or location. Some people act like divulging their schedules and itinerary, or agreeing to a simple appointment, would be a breach to fucking national security.
  3. Such fucking bullshit and hypocrisy. [Edit: removed the rest cuz I forgot this isn't Cloak Room]
  4. Is it just me or has pricing taken a major jump of late? It doesn't seem that long ago when you could get something like a Corvette or 335i in the $40s, but now a 340i with any options is practically $60k or more. My mental map has always been that $40k is "premium high performance car" territory. Now it's Ford Mustang/Chevy Camaro territory.
  5. Fucking glitter on/in greeting cards. Who in the government do I have to write to, to stop this shit. When I ordered Christmas cards this year I specifically tried to get a pattern that looked like it didn't have glitter. Well fuck me if they aren't covered in glitter anyway. Between the Christmas cards people send me, and the ones I'm sending out, I'll need a hazmat team to get all the glitter spooge from out of my house.
  6. I saw a couple around 1:30 AM, but after 10 minutes the wind (combined with 40 degree temps) got to me. I could have bundled up more but it was bedtime anyway.
  7. I'm torn on this. It could be helpful for the state IMHO but at the same time I hate the likely backer(s) of this. Would we have a gaming commission to provide vigorous oversight and make sure they run an honest game that's fair to the player? (Of course not, it's Texas and we don't believe in regulation.)
  8. is there any mechanism by which Paxton can be reprimanded or censured for filing such a frivolous, destructive, and meritless action with the SC? Don't the ABA and/or the Texas State Bar have professional and ethical codes of conduct? For example, in the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct, rule 8.04, Misconduct, paragraph (a)(3) states: "A lawyer shall not...engage in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation."
  9. Starting Jan. 1, it will say Paper Jam even though there is no paper jam. Kidding aside, I wouldn't put it past these evil printer-manufacturing fucks to code in a "Logan's Run" killdate on their products even when they are otherwise functional.
  10. If you can't line up on first and goal from the 1 and just pound it in, you can't even call yourself an NFL Football Team. Also why the fuck does Zeke run at the biggest pile of bodies he can find, instead of bouncing it outside or something CHRIST
  11. Thanks, looks like some areas are getting it over Fox, but not Austin. DirecTV says they will carry on ch. 712.
  12. Only (very) tangentially Cowboys-related, but it is NFC East related--is the Washington-Pittsburgh game this afternoon carried on any major channels or networks? My listings don't show any football.
  13. Is Major Applewhite still available?
  14. I remember one from the early '90s called called Global Jungle, that aired stuff like the Dwyer clip and clips of bands like Skinny Puppy and Ministry.
  15. Today's TV coverage of racing accidents is extremely cautious and controlled, compared to what I grew up watching in the late '70s and '80s. Back then, when there was a bad crash at a place like Indy, the TV coverage would practically zoom in to get a good shot of the driver's limp, twitching body. And they'd cover the extrication and rescue efforts live. I think the first racing death I really saw and understood was Gordon Smiley's. It's on youtube, but don't watch unless you want to see someone die.
  16. This fucking team is shit. Home game, Thanksgiving. Playing against probably your biggest rival, with a chance to take command (such as it is) of the division. And you just played like complete shit. Congrats.
  17. My plan is beer, pizza and football.
  18. Watching this team is such a fucking slow beating
  19. You don't need MCAS, you just need pilots with balls of steel like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2CsO-Vu7oc
  20. The chart at this link shows deaths in the USA over the last several years. There is a definite seasonal trend; in the summertime it looks like the average weekly death rate is very roughly 51,000. In the winter it increases to very roughly 60,000. (That's looking at the pre-COVID years---you can clearly see that the numbers are worse after COVID.) https://public.tableau.com/views/COVID_excess_mort_withcauses_11042020/WeeklyExcessDeaths?:embed=y&:jsdebug=y&:toolbar=n&:tabs=n&:display_count=n&:origin=viz_share_link
  21. Glad to hear you're doing better. Keep it going and don't get discouraged!
  22. I never thought Trump's Wall would actually get built, but there it is.
  23. As is often noted in game threads, we rarely see Herman confront the officials much during a game. After games like this, I hope the football program at least sends a tape and/or protest letter to the Big 12 office after each game, documenting the bad calls.
  24. They have a "Contact Us" section of their website that allows users to send in questions. I have some questions. http://woodfilllaw.com/contact-us/
