  1. If I was a teacher forced to "prominently display" the 10 Commandments, I'd frame it and hang it underneath a sign that said "AGITPROP ON MANDATORY DISPLAY BY ORDER OF CORRUPT FASCISTS AND HYPOCRITES" or the like.
  2. NE Austin/Travis Co, my appraised value was down quite a bit (12%) but the net value still gets a 10% increase over last year's net due to accumulated prior increases.
  3. We must have LAW and ORDER!** ** Some exclusions may apply. Law and Order only available in select areas and to select persons.
  4. Gee, y'all are being so negative. I'm totally sure that if a BLM or other liberal activist had driven into a crowd and shot a conservative protestor, Abbott would be taking this same action to pardon the liberal activist. Why y'all gotta bring politics into it? We all have the same rights under the law, so there's no way that the Governor would selectively apply them to protect conservatives and/or tacitly endorse the murder of political opponents.
  5. Based on some cursory Googling, it looks to me like theme parks only make up about 10% of Disney's total revenue. And Disney Florida, while probably the biggest, is only one of five parks. I'm not saying it would be good for business, but Disney would still be able to get by just fine, at least for a while, without operating Disneyworld.
  6. DeSantis is a crybaby and a bully. It's so transparent that this isn't even about policy, it's purely retribution for Disney daring to say something negative about Florida's embarrassing government. I'm not a big fan of the Disney conglomerate but it's going to take institutions and corporations with similar clout and money to stand up to these tinpot dictators and their banana republic states.
  7. That mother effer just hopped over Austin like a frog jumping from one bank of a stream to t'other. Clowns to the left of me Jokers to the right Here I am stuck in the middle with you
  8. The logic is that tearing down our public institutions, support systems, and safety nets, effectively makes "regular people" weaker and gives them and their donors & patrons more control. The Republican party is focused like a laser on degrading any political (or physical) infrastructure that gives regular people the ability to influence policy, achieve economic independence outside of working for "the man," or make life choices outside what they deem acceptable.
  9. Can anyone suggest where I could find a few individual large-ish rocks (not huge, but maybe 2-3 feet wide x 1 feet tall) that I could use in a small landscaping project? It could be limestone, petrified wood, sandstone, pretty much anything that has an interesting shape and texture. And like you'd expect, I'm looking to keep costs down. I don't have a vehicle that can safely haul anything like this, so ideally it'd be a place that can deliver. Unless I borrow a truck.
  10. MANPAD missiles like the Stinger, are relatively small and light (22 lb for a Stinger.) Antiship missiles vary, but something like a Harpoon is 10+ feet long and weighs over 1,000 lbs. I don't think a Bayraktar has that kind of capacity.

  12. Wasn't "no taxation without representation" a big thing once? These crooks are doing the same thing--trying to deny citizens in Democratic areas from the ability to make policy or administer government, even at a local level. I'd love to see a general strike, and large cities need to stop remitting sales taxes and other payments (Robin Hood, etc.) to this corrupt State. Individual citizens should stop registering cars, paying other licenses and fees, etc.
  13. Why is our inside game so bad? It seems we rarely get good penetration to the basket, and even when we do have position for an "easy" shot, we miss more layups, dunk opportunities, putbacks, tip-ins etc. than anybody else. Our whole game is midrange and deeper perimeter shooting, plus free throws (if the refs decide to call fouls on the opponent).
  14. If anything I came out of this season of DtS liking, or at least sympathizing, with Otmar more than before. Of course it's DtS so I'm not saying it's an accurate portrayal of everything going on. I also came out of this season liking Zak Brown less so than before. Horner seems like someone who is good at their job but I wouldn't want to hang out with.
  15. #1 and 2 I'm fine with. #3 I guess I could live with. #4 is poop.
  16. Real talk tho, what happened to Superbowl commercials? They suck so bad now. It's not that they're different, they just aren't funny or interesting. I think part of the reason commercials suck now is because the products being promoted suck. Good commercials are for tangible and/or cool things like beer, sportscars, tires, watches, whiskey, breakfast cereal, maybe fast food wars. But most ads these days are for things NO ONE should give a SHIT about: Phone plans. Smartphones in general. Any kind of app on a smart phone. Anything at all to do with phones. Also: prescription drugs. Prescription drug ads should not be on TV,
  17. I tried clipping a few sagging branches that will be too high to reach once the ice melts. This resulted in me getting showered with ice chips, meltwater, and debris.
  18. Shit I hoped this was over, but a big oak limb just fell against the front of my house. And more precip is falling, and the ice on my trees is still very dry (not dripping). 78754.
  19. This was a nationally televised* (OK, cable) bowl game and some of y'all act like it was the orange-white scrimmage. When Texas plays a higher-ranked opponent in a bowl game that's practically next door to Austin, I expect to see a certain level of intensity and execution. Fuck Tom Herman but I bet his team wins this game. And I agree with the poster above, it's not cool with me that team leaders just sit out the bowl game, regardless of their pro prospects. If a player is on scholarship for a season, I expect them to be available to play that full season including any bowl game (unless there is a legitimate reason such as an injury). This was a winnable game for Texas and I'm pretty pissed about losing.
  20. This time I pre-killed my shrubs, so I'm ready.
  21. No matter what you show them, they'll end up watching nothing but standard def channels in weird zoom/stretch modes. When I'd switch to the corresponding HD channel to show my folks how much better HD is, they'd always say "it looks the same to me ." They'd just keep using the SD channels because the numbers were lower and easier to remember.
  22. Classic Dallas loss. Playing a mediocre-to-bad opponent and get dominated in 4Q. Multiple opportunities to put the game away, on defense AND offense , can't get it done. This team is such a paper tiger, folds under any adversity.
  23. It'll be fine. Now this, I dunno
