  1. Agreed. All things considered it was a huge success even though a material segment of the population won't recognize it. My only criticism is that once it became clear it didn't really stop transmission (Delta and certainly by Omicron), the messaging didn't change. It's been debated on this page before butI think it was embarrassing that some of the alleged top institutions of higher learning were (and maybe still are?) mandating not only vaccines but also boosters in student population where there really wasn't any benefit (particularly once it was clear it didn't stop transmission on campus). Like just about everything, the extreme on both sides of the COVID Vax debate had it totally wrong IMO.
  2. I still follow it all relatively closely and this is where I come out. This has been discussed on this thread before and one hand I understand why govt agencies had such a blunt approach to COVID Vax recs but, for example, there was never any evidence there was a meaningful benefit for healthy children or boosters for college kids, etc. I've seen recent data that the historically standard vaccine uptake among young children is down either further post-COVID and no doubt a big reason why was the US approach to COVID vaccination (recall Europe never recommended vaccination for kids). Again, given the evidence that it was generally safe, I understand why they took the approach they did (particularly when it was hopeful it would materially decrease transmission). But in hindsight I think a more targeted approach would have helped in the long run.
  3. Sorry, was reading too fast and didn't clarify. I think a prety low income limit on traditional if you have a work plan
  4. At least we all know he's bleeding their boosters dry in the process. I'm not in the loop but seems a safe guess he and Weigman both have way more leverage there than on the market (and both would do well in the market). Those guys leave even Looch would have to admit it's Jimbo couldn't recover.
  5. Great rec I haven't thought to submit until reading this. We've been 5 or so times now and love it. Everything we've ordered has been on point but agreed with the cochinitas tacos. There is a similar place close by at Royal/Abrams shopping center we tried recently called Mario Bros tacos that is also really solid.
  6. After losing NFL Ticket, I don't see how they remain viable absent becoming a serious streaming competitor with a top of the line app competitively priced. I'm just doubtful they can accomplish it. I mean for people like me that gave up on them 3 or 4 years ago after dealing with years of shitty service, it would take a lot to get me back. ATT ran Direct TV into the ground and I'll be shocked if they can really compete with the other streaming providers.
  7. Would love to hear take from those better in the know but I'm guessing TCU utilized this run to build a decent NIL war chest.
  8. Given that CDC/Athletic Dept can now promote One Fund, is there any reason they can't send an email blast with a recent example of charity work athlete's have performed to get paid? A short message of how people can get involved, an example of the charitable benefit, and a reminder that One Fund is tax deductible could go a long way on the crowd sourcing side. Hell, look how quickly the masses have helped out players go fund me campaign's for sick family members. I agree I think Texas One Fund is lacking from a marketing perspective so far (which is understandable given how how new it is). I've told multiple people about it and that are more than casual fans and they had no idea.
  9. Timely discussion. I lurk a buddy's account at OB's. In a thread seeking crowdsourcing for One Fund today, of course, numerous shitposters on OB's starting bitching about paying players, one of (if not the) largest donor that has been keeping NIL together paying the lions share got pretty pissed at the response of the idiots on that site and flat out said he can't unilaterally support Texas NIL after this year. Preaching to the choir to most on this forum, I know, but it's beyond clear we really need more Texas One Fund donors in addition to Burnt Ends (and in addition to more larger donors stepping up) or we're going to be in trouble next year. Maybe someone closer can post the stats of actual monthly donors but I'm guessing it's abysmal given the alumni base. Maybe you could verify One Fund subscriptions somehow and add a One Fund in addition to Burnt Ends logo on profile so we can shame those not helping out? It's insane to me with our alumni base that we aren't a crowdsourcing leader. If A&M ever gets their shit together they sure as hell will be. But I think a big part of the issue is the masses still don't know about it or understand it.
  10. So DTV developed something streaming competitors have had in place for years? Good for them I guess. I'll still be a little surprised if they are a meaningful servicer provider 5 years from now.
  11. Maybe there is a discussion somewhere I haven't seen but would love some analysis/speculation as to WTF is going on there. I know there was supposedly issues between Sanders and Gundy mid-season, but for the other starters they are losing, do we have a sense how much of it is OSU having no material NIL# vs. disgruntledness?
  12. To the extent able to share, do you have stats on number of monthly contributors/avg contribution to Texas One Fund for football? I bet it's better than most but not near enough given our alumni base.
  13. I disagree. The only way he kept his job is if there was sufficient evidence to make the public reasonably believe that he had no fault in the incident. Like the police starting to investigate Randi because she claims she bit herself. Again, it was just never going to happen as stated in my post. Contrition, Anger Management, etc. is what he should start doing now in order to help him get his next job. That is exactly why Texas gave him the opportunity to resign. He could have released a statement still proclaiming innocence of any crime but contrition for the situation and taking steps to improve himself. Instead, his reaction has been litigation threats and signaling this will get messy. I have zero doubt his lawyer explained all of this to him and this is the path that Beard is choosing to take so far. Maybe he will calm down when he realizes fighting Texas on this will absolutely have a negative impact on his ability to restart his career.
  14. This is why Beard was DOA as soon as that call was made regardless of whatever really happened. The only way he had a chance to keep his job was (i) sufficient recant by Randi + cleared of all charges and (ii) the relationship being completely over (and frankly evidence that he was leaving her which instigated everything). He obviously needed her to play ball in order to get a statement out of her (i.e., likely some continuation of a relationship) and I don't think the statement provided by Randi was even sufficient to satisfy(i) as it was clearly drafted by her lawyer to protect her against charges she filed a false police report. I mean his only shot was a retraction so strong Randi risked being charged over it while he was able to simultaneously drag her through the mud while telling his side of the story. That's what it would have taken absent actual evidence she made it all up. Was just never going to happen.
  15. Yep. He doesn't have a good hand but can make this messy. Lot of non-lawyers opining on what the final resolution would be and not the path to get there. See Bev Kearney situation which isn't near as high profile as this. It's a shitty situation all around and looks like Beard isn't going to take the high road and accept responsibility. That path seems more likely to land him another job soon which is where his focus should be. Maybe he'll come to realize that. We'll see.
  16. You have got to be one of the dumbest motherfuckers on this board. For everyone's sake, delete your account.
  17. Except that crucial 3rd and long against OSU where he lost his mind chasing a RB screen all the way across the field (that was already recognized and completely blown up by players that had that responsibility) when his assignment was the QB which opened up a massive lane for a 20 yard run/conversion. Probably worst defensive bust of the season.
  18. Agree with this. Hell probably even last offseason. He had a long window where he could have stepped back and hired a modern OC and let him do his job while the boosters bought 5 stars for him to play with. After this past year and toxicity around the program he had no chance. The only reason he hired Petrino is that there wasn't a single quality OC in America that wants to eventually be a HC that would take the job. Petrino will be 62 when spring ball starts. This is 1 last pay day before retirement for him.
  19. So you admit you have absolutely zero expertise, are flat out guessing and generally have no idea what you are talking about, yet previously made a declarative statement on the point. Surly gonna Surly.
  20. If you are on sidelines of games, what should they have done differently i? Given (i) not necessarily probable any decision maker had a perfect view of the direct hit to sternum and (ii) I would think the clear/reasonable assumption with an unconscious football player on the field is brain/head/neck and not cardiac, what is the protocol that would have led to them cutting shoulder pads/starting CPR/AED sooner? Are they supposed to immediately check pulse if a player is non-responsive?
  21. If Worthy comes back, I hope that performance with all eyes on him was humbling. I have no doubt in his mind he thinks he's a top 2 round draft pick after next year and he's not close. He's elite with the ball in his hands and route running within 15 yards, and great speed, but he's not anywhere close to a complete receiver. I can't recall a starting WR we've had that is worse as tracking, adjusting to and catching a deep ball. Dude better stop worrying about 6 figure NIL money and work his ass off this offseason if he wants to really get paid.
  22. I got the SWA message as well. Problem is I should be landing in San Antonio right now and drinking on the Riverwalk by 2:15. Instead, those fucks "rebooked" me on a flight leaving tomorrow morning with a Houston layover that gets me to SAT in time to sit in the airport for 3 hours before boarding my previously booked flight back to Dallas LOL. What a fucking clown show. They better not even think about trying to stick me with flight credit. I want cash with interest.
  23. I tried to explain what we missed this AM and he clearly doesn't get it. When he's older I'll make him watch highlights of the 60 point triple double and let him know we missed the ending because he was tired...... Still kicking myself. Edit: And forgot to mention I was in my damn firm seats 12 or so rows back directly on the FT line where Luka sent it to OT. Would have had a perfect view.
  24. I went to the link to submit a request for a refund for my cancelled flight. I noticed there was separate instructions for where to email receipts for expenses incurred as a result of this disaster (meals, food, lodging, etc.). If these idiots can't staff an employee hotline to coordinate their crews, how are they going staff people to review tens of thousands of passenger reimbursement requests LOL. Passengers out of pocket thousands and no response from SWA will be the next big story in the weeks/months ahead. The bad press for SWA isn't going away anytime soon.
