  1. Were would a Vegas baseball stadium go? Near downtown? It doesn't seem like you need to get it strip adjacent.
  2. Fuck you. Put it in West Austin. Fucking old white people never learn that dumping their problems in East Austin and forgetting about them is not a solution that is going to fly anymore.
  3. Camping along the hike/bike trail was never legal. Cronk opted to not enforce it due to CDC pandemic guidelines. Are we going to see the list of "temporary" mass camp sites? They better not all be on the east side.

    Austin FC

Are you kidding? The 1st event is going to be a disaster. They are going to have problems with traffic, food etc which is only natural. They'll learn important lessons and help make the Austin FC debut better.
  5. Good. People are going to be really really shocked with how improved the new design is. It really goes back again to making highways smarter which Txdot has been doing in the last few years. They have been building those very expensive but very useful braided entrances and exits. The new 183 ramp has 3 key improvements. More Gradual Slope, It has a dedicated lane that leads to it instead of a sharp nascar swerve exit and traffic entering from the frontage (cars coming from 290) will now pass under it instead of before it so entering cars aren't going through people trying to take the ramp. Promote smarter highways, not wider ones.
  6. They are working on the engineering. I've only seen it discussed in slides in the CTRMA board meetings online. It's still really early.
  7. Sam's brother is dead. Sounds like suicide or a terrible accident.
  8. CTRMA is moving ahead on extending the 290 Expressway to Elgin.
  9. Would it be really dumb to buy Ford? It's cheap and they seemed prime to make a big splash with EV in the next 5-10.
  10. Huh, seems longer than that but you're right. I take it back.
  11. I believe at least some of those were part of a shit ton of projects that were delayed indefinitely by CAMPO to fund 35 reconstruction with managed lanes instead of toll lanes.
  12. 45SW is the shortest toll over? LOL. Not remotely true and it's only a dollar. Try counting the tolling booths along the new 183.
  13. Brat is right. You may not like 130 and that's fine but it still serves a big community and will help bring desperately needed development to this part of town as development pops up around it. Also, anyone who says trucks don't take 130 don't ever drive on 130. You could ban trucks from 35 but you would have a lot of empathy HEBs, Targets, CVSes and just about every other commercial building considering they all require trucks to service loading docks.
  14. This. People would be shocked at how much we could improve traffic flow if we just focus on making highways and roads smarter instead of wider.
  15. The new highway entrance going under the rebuilt ramp is going to be a profound improvement over the current entrance which makes cars travel through the line of cars trying to exit.
  16. And now thanks to Kelly and other NIMBY council members we are likely going to get a 12th council member (11th district) since they separated the strong mayor proposal and the additional district. I think Strong Mayor is going to go down in flames and the additional district will be approved. Geographic districts are fine but you need to balance it out with a few at large members to balance out the increased power small neighborhood groups have now over entire city issues. There was a competing proposal at the time for 8 geographic districts and 3 at large (1 being the ceremonial mayor) and that passed BUT it didn't have as much support as 10-1 which is a stupid way to pick a system in my humble opinion. This is what we got and an additional district is just going to lower the bar even more for who can get elected.

  18. None. What does the mayor's office have to do with 35?
  19. Not for a rebuilding a direct connector ramp. Also, congrats south Austin. You're getting your own research blvd style elevated highway down I-35 from 71 all the way to Slaughter (actually between South Boggy Creek and Slaughter). Going elevated though will allow intersection bypass lanes at Stassney and William cannon which is pretty dope. Still, it's going to look like shit.
  20. Reconstruction of half of the 35 North to 183 North flyover starts soon. TLDR: The design is great. Deal with construction because it's nothing compared to what's coming for 35 in a few years.
