  1. I’ve seen every 2020 nominee except for Marriage Story: My top three, in order: 1) Once upon a time in Hollywood. Absolute classic in my opinion altho I understand why some didn’t like 2) JoJo 3) Parasite The rest of the nominees were pretty weak. Maybe 1917 was worthy
  2. I described it to someone as Inception + James Bond + time travel and inversion
  3. Yeah the basic concept is somewhat easy, it’s when put in movie format that it becomes insanity. There are three scenes that I couldn’t even begin to explain what exactly is happening. Generally big picture plot I understood it, but who is going where and when and how is basically a giant mystery
  4. Yes and no. It totally blew me away visually and mentally, all the actors were good/great. I would call it too complex though. Multiple scenes where the actors have to explain to each other (the audience) what’s going on. It’s a movie that may be a masterpiece once I fully understand each scene, but after one viewing, feels like a brain attack. Also, plenty of British/Russian/Indian people in it, will watch with subtitles at home and that should help a bunch. Also a good reminder that Nolan uses real gunshot noises. I remember jumping in my seat at the very first scene in Dunkirk when they start shooting, same thing here
  5. That was bonkers I don’t know what I just watched
  6. I thought virtually all models are protecting the storms to take a hard NE turn and miss US completely and die at sea, at worst potentially hitting somewhere up along east coast as a weaker storm
  7. Thank God COVID forced me to find a new hobby. Seems like sports may need to be reduced
  8. Such bullshit. Why should the ATP and WTA be concerned about an American issue? The tour is like 10% Americans at most. Are we going to stop playing forever because there are Chinese players in WTA? Where actual genocide is happening?
  9. Crazy they fucked up that badly. I don’t think we got a drop of rain at my house and half the neighborhood had evacuated
  10. Every single reputable meteorologist in the world says it is going to turn, it’s turning. No need to worry
  11. Cop should be charged, every single non peaceful protestor should be charged and the police/military should keep order. When they don’t, wild shit happens and people on both sides do dumb shit playing war like children. End of story.
  12. Yeah it’s going to be a monster but going to hit in a great place based on population. Couldn’t have asked for much better
  13. Yeah - woke up at 5am, looked at model and discussion, freaked out and sent my wife and kids north while I moved everything inside and strapped things down I’ve been following this closely for four days on a weather forum. While I’m relieved I won’t need to replace half my fence and who knows what else, sort of a letdown. Weird feeling I know this is the opposite of what you should do, but next time, unless Houston is on the east side of storm and probability is extremely high of receiving at least some impacts, I’m not doing shit until it’s under 48 hours out
  14. Yep. If this had followed the Euro today and NHC was forced to adjust to Galveston, they would have lost some serious credibility. Instead the opposite happened
  15. It’s going East. This will be Rita or less for Houston, decent chance not a drop of rain shows up for anyone west of 45
  16. Yeah I think the Houston area is in the clear barring a 50 mile shift last minute
  17. Yeah it’s almost certainly headed to Beaumont area. The models are almost in perfect agreement. UKmet is outlier to the west showing Houston getting blasted. Couple other less reliable models also showing west movement All that being said - the TX/LA border is only 60ish miles from Galveston, very much within the error range. And obviously Beaumont is even closer
  18. What time is Euro running? And yeah the Space City guys are sort of punting at this point, reading between the lines they seem stumped by NHC not moving the forecast but they won’t formally contradict it, and instead giving guidance on various scenarios. Unfortunately decisions have to be made right now for people
