  1. they cant keep Dave at this point. he's toast. i know folks who know folks who say he's toast and that's been a decision made a few weeks ago.
  2. Texas has 3 coaches in their entire history who were here 10 seasons (being careful and saying 10 games x 10 seasons = 100 total games coached) DKR had 219 Mack had 206 Fred Akers has 116 next was Dana X Bible at 97 John Mackovic at 71 quick look at some other programs - LSU has 3, then a drop down to the 70s. A&M has 3 (includes Dana Bible who has to be the only coach who will have 100+ games at 2 schools) - then a drop off to 81. OU has 4, then they drop off to the high 60s. USC has 4 then 1 in the 90s then 1 in the 70s. Notre Dame has 5 who were there 10+ years. Michigan has 5 (including 1 at 100 on the nose), then 2 in the 90s, then a drop to the 60s. tOSU has 5, then 1 in the 90s then next is Ryan Day in the 60s. Nebraskas wiki list is not formatted like everyone else and im too lazy to do the math. my point: getting 10 years out of any coach is not reasonable anymore.
  3. i mean, its fucking UTSA. look at how bad they were before he got there and then look at the fact he was 0-4 vs top 50 teams in FEI in year 1, then 2-2 since. idk what you want the UTSA coach to do. he took over a bad program that fired the prior coach and will have the #1, #2, #3 (tied), #4 (tied) seasons by wins in program history. he has absolutely exceeded expectations at UTSA. if they lose to Tulane he is going to have finished his 4 years at UTSA finishing 2nd, 1st, 1st, 3rd in conference standings. this at a school that had 2 winning seasons in their first 9 years of existence and were 2 years off a year where they were bowl eligible but not selected for a bowl. what more could you have asked him to do if you are the president or AD of the UTSA program? this is also anecdotal but nobody in the greater SA area gave two fucks about UTSA before he was there, that has changed.
  4. i wrote a long message about this then lost it because i accidentally closed the tab and it didn't save my work i pulled data from FEI where Traylor is 2-6 as well and Elko is 4-6 vs the same top 50 teams. really pissed bc i had included who those teams they lost to were and the fact that Traylor lost 4 of his 6 in the first season he was at UTSA. IF Elko turns them down they are in a world of hurt. there is no reason for that guy to say no and his success will depend on his offensive hires - he is a very, very good DC and i can't wait to hear the gnashing of teeth in college station when he brings Santucci back with him really, how many of those guys are going to be coming with him on the offensive side to A&M? maybe he keeps Blackwell (good hire) and Coley (who can recruit) but will he actually keep Petrino? no way they keep Dameyune Craig and Addazio is toast after this year. Blackwell and Coley also make sense kind of whatever happens with the offense there - Coley can flex between a couple of different positions and Blackwell is good. so that leaves him OC/QB coach, WR/TE depending on Coley and OL coaches. here is his current OL's coaching history (Adam Cushing)
  5. thats the biggest name they could get? is he even typically up that late?
  6. is this an "its ok" rec or is this a "it's fucking awesome" rec?
  7. breaking news: true freshman from small school isn't good enough to burn his redshirt as the backup behind entrenched starter and backup who has a full year+ in the system.
  8. not getting drafted THIS year or NEXT year? not that it matters, because if he goes he will get drafted. Stetson Bennett just got drafted dude. IN THE FOURTH ROUND. Max Duggan got drafted. Tanner McKee got drafted. someone named Chris Oladokun got drafted 2 years ago. if he went THIS year he would get drafted. the only way he doesn't get drafted next year is if he has a major injury.
  9. Shot: Chaser: Rivian R1T Outshines Tesla Cybertruck on the Hollister Hills Stairs, It's Embarrassing https://www.autoevolution.com/news/rivian-r1t-outshines-the-tesla-cybertruck-on-the-hollister-hills-stairs-it-s-embarrassing-224368.html
  10. can't they just do private games?
  11. what's even funnier to me is that Jimbo's contract also had no buyout clause if he left for another job. so if he won 3 national championships in a row and then Alabama called to hire him for $20 million a year he could just waltz out the door to Tuscaloosa and pay A&M $0
  12. do you think there won't be huge WR talent in the transfer portal? here is who was in the portal this last year i have more faith i guess in the freshman (Cook specifically i have a TON of faith in) + getting a WR1 in the portal + Ryan Wingo than you do? betting you see something closer to 2022 where you have 1 dude with a ton of passes (WR1) + Cooks + more passes to the RBs vs TEs. overall, my level of concern around getting WR talent for next year is very, very low. just because it isn't going to be as good in 24 as it was in 23 doesn't mean next years WR room won't be good. this year's WR room (Worthy/Mitchell/JWhitt/Cook) has more talent than any at Texas since Sloan Thomas/Roy Williams/BJ Johnson.
  13. wait you think Sark returning Ewers + 4 of the 5 OL starters + Brooks once he's healthy/Baxter with a year under his belt + losing 90% of your receiving yards isn't going to be very attractive to a top WR in the portal???
  14. just to be clear here, you have been predicting ISU would win since January when the schedule was released, you have been excited about it and after like 10 months this is the best you could come up with?
  15. you roll into next year with this: +whatever WR you get in the portal, which you will absolutely get if Ewers comes back and likely get anyway. you have a shitload of room in the WR room, can't imagine you keep Neyor and Cain both.
  16. if they are smart they announce it after the Duke game is over on 11/25 that gives them 3 full weekends for OVs + setting up staff and maximizes the time they have him on site. add in that you can still roll with Robinson as the interim coach so Elko focuses on building for next year and it's a win-win. you get the extra practices, you can start to evaluate dudes for next year, etc.
  17. there is no offset language in the contract. he can double dip.
  18. bumping this since Briles keeps getting brought up as a potential hire somewhere (he's still nuclear this many years later for good reason) Defector: The Just-Revealed Conversations Between Art Briles And Baylor Staff Are Exactly What You’d Expect https://defector.com/the-just-revealed-conversations-between-art-briles-and-baylor-staff-are-exactly-what-youd-expect the bottom of the article has the redacted pepper hamilton report info in it.
  19. my point is he has 33% of his season potentially left to play and very easily could be the 3rd QB behind Williams and Maye still. if he makes a decision today about coming back that's only because his shoulder is injured and he doesn't want to negatively impact his season
  20. i am NOT defending his recruiting, but its not like they have some super strong state recruiting wise though: #5 in the state in the composite is a .9062. this would put Fox Crader at #48 in the state of Texas just behind Coen Echols. would be like #27 in California. Washington's recruiting high in the composite going back to 2018 was #15 in 2019 and their top ranked player from WA was #11 in their class. they generally have landed in the #18-30 range overall. they ended up really low last year (#95 in the composite) but that's because they had 10 total recruits + 9 transfers. in 23 they had 2 of the top 5 players from Oregon. 22 got 1 of top 5. 2 of top 5in 2021. 2 in 2020. 1 in 2019. the state of Washington gets poached a ton. guessing it's like Tennessee in that regard where if you have a top guy everyone is in on him and they don't really have a ton of faith in him. plus Oregon is super strong in state from flipping through those years not that any of it matters, he will recruit well at A&M and your play with him is the offensive scheme - not that he's some kind of recruiting rainmaker. he brought 2 dudes with him on the offensive side from Fresno St (Grubbs OC and Marks RB coach + had worked with the TE coach at Indiana previously) - surround him with some offensive rainmakers at RB or WR or TE and you are probably good to go. also not that any of this matters but he isn't leaving Washington for Texas A&M
  21. does PFF have aDOT or air yard stats for college @linux? or anyone know where they live? would love to see the comparison edit: found some here: https://www.cfb-graphs.com/qb_table your nix info is wrong, Ewers has a yard+ in his aDOT and a very slightly better air yard / a number. Ewers: 0.264 EPA/attempt, 7.13 ADOT, 8.34 yards/comp, 7.58 YAC, 773 air yards (going to be low because of how many games he has played) or 3.37 air yards per attempt Nix: 0.422 EPA/attempt, 6.04 ADOT, 8.8 yards/comp, 7.22 YAC, 909 air yards or 3.34 air yards per attempt Penix: 0.458 EPA/attempt, 10.17 ADOT, 9.6 yards/comp, 5.68 YAC, 1873 air yards or 5.8 air yards per attempt Daniels: 0.548 EPA/attempt, 8.71 ADOT, 10.56 yards/comp, 7.4 YAC, 1318 air yards or 5.60 air yards per attempt JJ McCarthy: 0.640 EPA/attempt, 9.65 ADOT, 9.78 yards/comp, 5.01 YAC, 1318 air yards or 6.18 air yards per attempt for the lulz Weigman: 0.289 EPA/attempt, 8.52 ADOT, 7.91 yards/comp, 4.125 YAC, 636 air yards or 5.2 air yards per attempt Max Johnson: 0.095 EPA/attempt, 7.74 ADOT, 7.0 yards/comp, 5.383 YAC, 778 air yards or 3.9 air yards per attempt and is pressured at the 7th highest rate in CFB through week 10 top aDOT in CFB, p5 highlighted: EPA/attempt
  22. the injuries are not the same - clavicle injury due to Turner's dirty hit and a sprained AC joint != nagging hamstring injuries or multiple ACL tears or wrist injuries they type of injury matters as does how they got hurt. not like they were noncontact injuries
