  1. A couple of weeks ago things were pretty slow at work, and I ended reading/reading about several court cases involving birthright citizenship. The judicial record with regards to the SCOTUS is pretty consistent and pretty clear. Most of it involved Chinese or other Asian immigrants on the west coast, but the results were pretty consistent. I really dont get how they think they have the legal justification for what they are doing right now unless they think the law doesn't apply to them, which it seems they think.
  2. I'm sort of philosophically libertarian to an extent, but I recognize that libertarianism doesn't have very many practical applications in today's world unless we can somehow unwind untold government intervention. And even if we did manage to do that, there is still a need for government. IMO, much of what we see on the "conservative" or "liberal" side of politics involves the denial of certain human rights in order to shape society into whatever whichever group thinks it should look like instead of actually protecting all of human rights. That said, my kids have watched plenty of PBS kids shows. I have watched the occasional shows intended for adults. I'm not sure I'm seeing any bias. I mean, there is undoubtedly some sort of bias in any given show because the creators have biases, but I can't really recall anything that blatant.
  3. I'm a firm believer that the Americas were much more populated and advanced than previously thought. I think there is enough evidence to put the Clovis first hypothesis to rest, although I haven't seen any convincing evidence that any pre-clovis civilizations were particularly widespread. But looking at those images, I can't help but think there is a strong possibility that those scientists are reading more into the data than it says. I'm not saying I don't think it's a possibility, but prehistoric anthropologists seem to be pretty clanish and not welcoming of any hypothesis that contradicts their beliefs. More so than most branches of science, for whatever reason. Maybe it has something to do with funding and some kind of intense rivalry on who can come up with the best solution to the questions. It would be pretty cool to see those hypothesis validated, and I'm rooting for them, but I'm skeptical. Of course I'm saying all this without having actually spent some time looking into the data, so I can't entirely discount them either.
  4. There's also big bore air guns if you want something with a little bit more power. https://www.airgundepot.com/big-bore-airguns.html
  5. Yeah, the text said that, but the lady on the live coverage misspoke.
  6. That BBC link said waves of 30 meters hitting Japan...I'm pretty sure she means centimeters.
  7. Get a .22 pellet rifle. Bigger pellet and subsonic. Less noise than hammering a nail.
  8. But they come with shake awake technology!
  9. That's why you get one made with Earl Campbell's.
  10. Their glazed donuts are the best glazed donuts, but their kolaches (suck it Czechs) leave a lot to be desired. I don't eat donuts much these days, so i prefer an Earl Campbell or Renfro's kolache from the local Cambodian run place.
  11. You can buy an external antenna on Amazon for the spypoint. It's a standard fitting, so there are a ton of options. Just have to have a tree to put it in or set a 4x4 in the ground if there aren't any trees to mount the antenna in.
  12. Like late night swimsuit in shady lakes?
  13. You're still posting here, so it's not likely.
  14. As soon as the leaves were pretty well down and the weather became rainy, accompanied by light snows, these men, after acting the part of husbandmen, so far as the state of warfare permitted them to do so, soon began to feel that they were hunters. They became uneasy at home. Everything about them became disagreeable. The house was too warm. The feather bed too soft, and even the good wife was not thought for the time being a proper companion. The mind of the hunter was wholly occupied with the camp and chase. I have often seen them get up early in the morning at this season, walk hastily out and look anxiously to the woods and snuff the autumnal winds with the highest rapture, then return into the house and cast a quick and attentive look at the rifle, which was always suspended to a joist by a couple of buck's horns, or little forks. His hunting dog, understanding the intentions of his master, would wag his tail and by every blandishment in his power express his readiness to accompany him to the woods. -Joseph Doddridge, from Notes on the Settlement and Indian Wars Of the Western Parts of Virginia and Pennsylvania from 1763 to 1783, inclusive, together with a Review of the State of Society and Manners of the First Settlers of the Western Country
  15. At what point do some of the less MAGA states start arresting ICE agents? There are probably tons of trivial things they can be arrested for. They can't have complete immunity from state law while doing their job.
  16. More like fisting each other.
  17. So you naturally couldn't resist the temptation to join the club?
  18. Watched Becoming Led Zeppelin over the last couple of nights. It was good, but I guess it was true to the title and left me wanting more. I was born in '85, so I realized I've never actually listened to to a Led Zeppelin album from start to finish. I think that is something I need to correct.
  19. Your friend's post is good, excepting the lart where he forgot that the US annexed Texas as well as getting land from Spain and Mexico. As a white guy with a Latina wife, I can relate to a lot of that. She's taken to carrying around her passport to be able to prove that she belongs here.
  20. My torque converter on my truck bit the dust a couple weeks ago, so I've been spending a bit of time getting the Sportster back into proper shape. Had to pull the starter to clean up/rebuild the starter solenoid. To get to the bolts that mount the starter you have to pull the primary cover. The get the starter out you have to pull the rear exhaust. So I got all that done...and transmission fluid is leaking out of the adjustment on the clutch cable. The adjustment is well above the primary, which means there is pressure building up in there when it heats up, driving oil up the clutch cable. Some sort of bug must have decided to make nest inside my vent tube. Which is wedged between the starter and the rear cylinder, so you have to pull the starter to get to it...
  21. Seems like this quote is just ran across yesterday from Notes on the Settlement and Indian Wars Of the Western Parts of Virginia and Pennsylvania from 1763 to 1783, inclusive, together with a Review of the State of Society and Manners of the First Settlers of the Western Country by Joseph Doddridge seems appropriate.
  22. Dem titties is great.
  23. I guess we're not calling any of the handballs? That's two obvious ones.
