No, the guy he linked is the recruit I was referring. I'll bother learning how to say and spell his name if Texas lands him.

Folks are high on Lefau though, no doubt. I don't know if anyone is comparing him to former longhorn greats the way they are with the Cali recruit, but things look promising.

If we get one that can be compared to Nobis there won't be enough Kool aide to go around...

Hi Horn Fans, looking forward to meeting all of you at the Sugar Bowl!  If you're going to the game, come stop by our tailgate in the #5 lot - just look for the blue "Ribs and Rickshaws" (long story, don't ask) canopy tent. Anyways, I can't wait to chow down on fried okra and chug some Red Stripe beer with all of you. Hooooray beer!

This will be my first time visiting Shreveport (but not my first time in the swamp if you catch my drift), and while I know it's several states away from Texas, I understand you guys are basically the home team. Personally I think that's really unfair since we're the higher seed, and the LA Bowl should have been slotted into the playoffs instead of the Sugar Bowl. But whatever, this won't be our first time overcoming east coast bias. I say BRING IT ON!

Anyway, I think UW has a really good chance to go all the way this year. Here are 5 reasons why I like my DAWGS to win.

    1. Michael Big Penix Energy Jr. He is the best player on the field, enough said on that. Heisman winner, Maxwell Trophy winner, Bilentikoff runner-up. He has 4 years of high school and 6 years of college under his belt and will do whatever he can to win the game.

    2. Offensive Line. We average a weight of 332 across the line, and they are ready to dominate the line of scrimmage. Roger Rosegarden, Jackson Powers-Johnson, Center, Ossai, Big "Orange Julius" Buelow. These boys have an attitude and are ready to rumble!!!

    3. Chuck "Steak" Morell. A new defensive scheme and a new attitude. Everyone is raving about the difference between our game plan since firing Inge and slotting Chuck into his role at DC. Don't be fooled by the stats, this defense has taken a HUGE step forward under new leadership and the stats speak for themselves.

    4. Speed, speed, speed. This is the fastest team Washington has had this century, probably since the Legion of Zoom team from 2014! Rome Odunze, Germs Bernie, Ja'Lynn McClatcher, Ja'Lynn Polk, Ja'Lynn "catches more than he drops" Mickens, Nate Fellner. This is a deeply veteran lineup, but it's the new guys who have really changed the complexion of this team. We haven't seen this much speed since the Legion of Zoom team from 2014.

    5. Time of possession. I think we can win the time of possession battle in this one. the more we can control the ball and keep our defense off the field, the greater chance we’ll have to win.

I think UW wins this one rather easily, say...34-17?

Do they teach any school shit up there at UW?...you know, like geography perhaps?   Several states away from Texas???Penix is the best player on the field???....He isn't the best QB on the field...Speed??? Y'all are gonna discover what speed is.

Fact is, y'all are discover many things like...what a weak ass schedule you played this year. ....How your best opponent will not be Oregon.....and how your hero Pennix performs under the pressure of having to produce a TDevery drives he starts....just to keep up because we will score almost at will....oh....and fuck your Ribs and Rickshaws...

  3. UW beat Oregon twice.....big deal....who wouldn't ?.... Will UW get some yards?...of course.....some yards.but they will have to do it in the air. I doubt they get 60 yards rushing on our Defense.....and speaking of Defense....The only thing UW knows about Defense is that they suck at it. I think we will damned near score at will on them. Most of the national guys have our Offense as " a nightmare to defend" UW is only "very good". I just do not hear much talk about Defense.

I think UW will start to press just to keep up and the game just gets out of hand for them.

  4. Texas 52

    U Dub 13

Penix will have to throw and throw ...maybe 21 of 48 and 3 INT's

U Dub cannot run against us. People worried about Penix and friends....forget that crap. Who ought to be worried is any U Dub fan. We have an elite defense and all U Dub knows about defense is that they can't play it. We will score almost at will against them and they will start to press to keep up. The game will get completely out of hand in the 3rd quarter. I almost feel sorry for them. Hell, our band may as well play El Deguello for them as they come out of the tunnel.

OU game with like 10 -15 seconds left and needing a TD

well....ya got me I guess....I was all caught up in the fact that Quinn drove the field to get the go ahead field goal with a short clock. .....cant blame Quinn for the defense letting OU go 75 yds with 1:22 left to go ahead.

    ok...10-15 seconds...yeah....tough crowd.

Those stats are impressive, no doubt, but Quinn just doesn't seem to have "it" to me.  I want him to be successful but his body language, pocket presence, and throwing motion don't give me confidence.  I find myself holding my breath on passing plays hoping for a completion vs expecting one.

Maybe Maalik is the answer, maybe he isn't but his attitude, and bearing say leader to me.

His throwing motion don't give you confidence???     WTF do you know about throwing motion?

I will tell you what gives me confidence....Every single time at the end of a game this year when we absolutely..... ABSOLUTELY had to drive for a score Quinn delivered. No Texas QB not named VY or James Street can say that..maybe Colt...

I don't give a rats ass about your swagger bullshit!.....

    Now get off my lawn...

I'm just hoping the lack of Quinn causes Sarkbto get back to basics a bit and stop needlessly throwing momentum away at times. Let's lean on this oline and let the backs get some momentum. I feel like Baxter, especially, would benefit from getting the ball a bit more often. On paper, we should be better in the trenches than the rest of the teams currently on our schedule.

Now secondary is a whole other story. When this staff was hired, I felt like secondary coaching might be a weak link. Three years in, and I haven't seen anything that completely puts those worries to bed.

I keep hearing that our Offensive Line is so damned good....and our OC is a savant and our RB's are really good......and then I see us not be able to punch it in from 3 yds with a first down.... Over,Andover ... that I am now determined to quit listening!

  8. Aggy is the only place I know that keeps a 3 column score sheet. They show wins losses and quality losses! They will actually brag about those quality losses, and as well they should. They have led the NCAA in quality losses  for the last 70 or so years.....

One of the best. And if he played today he’d be kicked out of the league within the first few games for head hunting. A different game, for good or bad, but he is an icon and a goat.

I call bullshit on that. HoF worthy?...you bet, but he is not the GOAT...That honor goes to Tommy Nobis'. DB could not carry Nobis' jock as a college LB...check every stat there is. Why on hell the top LB award is named after DB and not Nobis' is a crime.

Larry Czonka said he would have rather played against Butkis every week than against Nobis' once a season.

So the receivers were overhyped in the off-season?  Huh.

possibly the most insightful post in this whole thread.

I’d rather our guys drop a few than their guys catch a few. Quinn may have some inconsistency issues but he doesn’t throw picks.

    Goddammit!....now you have done it!

My take is while I’m happy he hit on the deep balls there is still room for improvement. Both Worthy and AD made really good catches but had either one dropped those people would have come down on the respective receiver when Ewers could have given them much easier passes to catch. My take is I'd much rather him work to get better on his placement on deep balls instead of having the WRs have to make difficult catches as the former will increase the success rate.

uh....better placement on a ball that went 54 yds in the air?...Say what? How much better do you want it? My nomination for dumb take of the year!
