  1. They have two heisman-level QBs.
  2. Ignore that it was 6-0 late in the half when he was hurt.
  3. I agree, but for slightly different reasons. Surly used to be hilarious when it was rooted in Texas football and dick cartoons. It was mostly funny and occasionally douchy. Now it's mostly douchy and occasionally funny. Half the posts are some form of "[fill in user or board] is stooopid!" It's not about being thin skinned or wanting well-considered assertions. That shit is boring. Why would I want to go to the 9.95 board to read a bunch of douchebags complaining that the football board is dumb? If you don't like the football board, don't go there. Also, too, SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT. The same thing happens with Futureman. It's become a douchebag rite of passage to talk shit about him. Futureman's bit isn't really my thing, but he's better than half the posters on Surly he doesn't parrot the same fucking thing over and over. If you're going to rip on someone, at least be original about it. You want more engagement? Ratchet down the douchiness. P.s. Even when I'm not logged in, I have an ad blocker so I never see ads.
  4. I don't follow Virginia Tech at all, but it's got to sting a bit to be 5 point underdogs to Marshall.
  5. I'd really love to hear a single concession the Big 12 has offered to Texas. Or a single instance of Texas attempting to exert "hegemonic control" of the league.
  6. We need a meta-roller coaster graphic for aggy - it's the same roller coaster for players, seasons, coaches, conference affiliations, etc. It looks exactly the same no matter how far in or out you zoom.
  7. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I thought the refs last night were more incompetent than biased. The three yard spot may have been the worst placement I've ever seen, but was way down the list of plays that could affect the outcome. The DPI was bad, but they called Wyoming for OPI in the end zone and took points off the board. Don't get me wrong, they were shitty. I just didn't get the sense they were shitty in a way that gave either team an advantage.
  8. Sark's first season and the early last year, we'd score early and then blow the lead. Now we dick around for 2 or 3 quarters and then turn it on. Hopefully we find somewhere in between.
  9. Well that was ugly. On the bright side, when we needed guys to step up and make a play, several did. These are the types of games Texas managed to lose the last few years. But Worthy stepped up, Brooks got it going, Barron make an incredible stop, we got a pick 6. That's progress.
  10. I agree. Everyone has PTSD from him starting at defensive end. He's a pretty good linebacker coming off the bench.
  11. We know what we have in the starters, now it's time to get meaningful snaps for the backups. I don't care what the final margin of victory is, I hope we get up by three scores and have backups playing from the middle of the second quarter.
  12. Totally agree. Nebraska is fucked whereas Bama is just one of 10 or so blue bloods. The game changed and Nebraska refused to accept it. It's changed for Alabama and I'll be curious to see how they respond.
  13. Alabama is in trouble, but not because of last night. NIL could be Bama's equivalent of eliminating partial qualifiers. Saban has used a huge staff of analysts, over-signing, what I assume was a decent bag game, etc. to ensure he never faced a level playing field. Others have caught up on the personnel side and now NIL gives programs like Texas and USC an advantage over the Alabama's and LSU's of the world. Alabama can still be successful, but it'll have to be because of better coaching, landing a transcendent player like VY, or catching lighting in a bottle like LSU a few years ago. Nebraska wasn't up to the challenge of competing on a level playing field and it doesn't look like an aging Saban is either.
  14. Next year. It's always next year.
  15. Rutgers and Northwestern would need significant improvement to be as bad as Illinois.
  16. One positive sign for this upcoming weekend was the edges did a really good job against Rice of... setting an edge. They were aggressive, but also aware of their responsibility. I don't remember anyone sprinting up field past the QB and leaving a huge running lane. Everyone seems to understand their job.
  17. This hits close to home. I coached my daughter's 4th grade soccer team in Houston. We played a game that was probably 55 degrees and half the team was convinced they had frost bite.
  18. I understand what you're saying, but what does Texas "throwing its weight around" even mean? It's said often enough, but is rarely followed by actual, concrete examples of it happening. It usually amounts to Nebraska, aggy, and others rubbing their vaginas. The only example I can think of is getting rid of partial qualifiers, thereby destroying Nebraska's future. As far as I can tell, that's it. That's the list.
  19. If Milroe is starting, it's possible we won't face any QBs.
  20. Bryce Young was holding that offense back, what with his Heisman and ability to complete forward passes...
