  1. More Santa Fe adjacent but I'll be at Rancho de Chamayo for my red chile fix Wednesday.
  2. Imagine a hell where every day for eternity you flew back and forth between Lubbock Preston Smith "International" Airport and Rick Husband Amarillo "International" Airport, stopping only briefly at each airport to dine at one of the airport restaurants before re-boarding your return flight.
  3. I think it was someone on here who first mentioned it. Cruzteca is outstanding. Great drinks too.
  4. Stolen from reddit
  5. Maybe it was Lucky Dog then Jack's. But it was Lucky Dog at some point.
  6. Jack's Burger House that begat Lucky Dog that begat Torchy's.

Reprise. Billy's BLT and a free 512 IPA cause the keg blew.
  8. Probably been mentioned but worth calling out Giovanni's Table in Bee Cave (or on the way to Bee Cave) on 2244 for a great family owned Italian place.

  10. Chili's and/or Schlotzsky's are our go tos on roadtrips. Any decent sized town in Texas, NM, Colorado or OK have one or the other. Not too expensive and reliably decent food. Probably eaten at the Schlotzsky's in Sweetwater on the way to NM more than I've eaten at the ones in Austin.
  11. He lived in Horseshoe Bay late in life, on the lighthouse peninsula. The stained glass above this doorway were epic. Truly a legend.

    One minor correction.
  13. Going to Coopers downtown is like recommending Saxon Pub at the airport. At least take him to Burger Bar instead of Shake Shack. Cripes
  14. I'm a not knower about the war of the sexes in South Korea. Or is that a reference to the cease fire but no real end of the war?
  15. The BBQ Joint across the street from the Westgate Grandy's (where Sap's is now) also had a kick ass breakfast.
  16. In the late 90s/early 2000s, the Grandy's in Hillsboro was the stop to feed the kids on the way north. Could always get them a vegetable. After the weekend driving back south it was always Braums though.
  17. I've wondered if that whole block bounded by Lavaca, MLK, Guadalupe and 18th is on a ground lease. I know the Greenwood Towers is that's on the SE corner. How else to explain why the old Pizza Hut still sits empty and the old retail spots fronting on MLK. *Edit* Back in the 90s, that Pizza Hut occupied part of the retail space to the east. You would order at the counter or get buffet and could then walk up a small flight of stairs to another seating area. May also have been restrooms up there. Landlord recaptured it sometime in the late 90s (?). Apparently to lease it to a vape shop or similar tenant.
  18. Does anyone know how much water is used by Austin and other communities from the lake annually?
  19. I moved to Austin in 88. I know there are chatters who have more info, but curious if this has more or not https://www.mysanantonio.com/entertainment/article/yogurt-shop-murders-hbo-release-date-20774453.php
  20. What's it like there weather-wise in late September? Looking for a trip sometime that fall. Was thinking about Tahoe, but was there in late August last year and it actually snowed and was cold all weekend.

I agree with this (also tried it twice). There are a lot of better sandwich places in town. Not many better burger places than Jewboys Burger though.
  22. Inks is over 4' over its spillway elevation. Dam! (i.e., Damn)
  23. Inks is currently dumping 27,000 CFS into the Colorado arm. Wirtz is passing through 38,000. With the additional water coming into the Llano LBJ is either going to start filling up again or they're going to need to open more gates at Wirtz. Trust me. I'm a notary public.
  24. I'm not an engineer, but LCRA has seemed to be much more proactive the last few days on keeping the water levels in Lake LBJ a foot or so below normal. I've heard from a few friends with places on LBJ that owners were highly pissed about how the water was passed through last weekend because too little was let out timely enough resulting in several docks getting flooded and boats/jet skis floating off.
