  1. Going to Coopers downtown is like recommending Saxon Pub at the airport. At least take him to Burger Bar instead of Shake Shack. Cripes
  2. I'm a not knower about the war of the sexes in South Korea. Or is that a reference to the cease fire but no real end of the war?
  3. The BBQ Joint across the street from the Westgate Grandy's (where Sap's is now) also had a kick ass breakfast.
  4. In the late 90s/early 2000s, the Grandy's in Hillsboro was the stop to feed the kids on the way north. Could always get them a vegetable. After the weekend driving back south it was always Braums though.
  5. I've wondered if that whole block bounded by Lavaca, MLK, Guadalupe and 18th is on a ground lease. I know the Greenwood Towers is that's on the SE corner. How else to explain why the old Pizza Hut still sits empty and the old retail spots fronting on MLK. *Edit* Back in the 90s, that Pizza Hut occupied part of the retail space to the east. You would order at the counter or get buffet and could then walk up a small flight of stairs to another seating area. May also have been restrooms up there. Landlord recaptured it sometime in the late 90s (?). Apparently to lease it to a vape shop or similar tenant.
  6. Does anyone know how much water is used by Austin and other communities from the lake annually?
  7. I moved to Austin in 88. I know there are chatters who have more info, but curious if this has more or not https://www.mysanantonio.com/entertainment/article/yogurt-shop-murders-hbo-release-date-20774453.php
  8. What's it like there weather-wise in late September? Looking for a trip sometime that fall. Was thinking about Tahoe, but was there in late August last year and it actually snowed and was cold all weekend.

    Sammiches

I agree with this (also tried it twice). There are a lot of better sandwich places in town. Not many better burger places than Jewboys Burger though.
  10. Inks is over 4' over its spillway elevation. Dam! (i.e., Damn)
  11. Inks is currently dumping 27,000 CFS into the Colorado arm. Wirtz is passing through 38,000. With the additional water coming into the Llano LBJ is either going to start filling up again or they're going to need to open more gates at Wirtz. Trust me. I'm a notary public.
  12. I'm not an engineer, but LCRA has seemed to be much more proactive the last few days on keeping the water levels in Lake LBJ a foot or so below normal. I've heard from a few friends with places on LBJ that owners were highly pissed about how the water was passed through last weekend because too little was let out timely enough resulting in several docks getting flooded and boats/jet skis floating off.
  13. 3rd floodgate just opened at Buchanan
  14. LCRA has dropped Lake LBJ over 1.5' in the last 12 hours. That's more than they dropped it on the 4th. Wonder if they are planning on starting to release water from Buchanan.
  15. Gives new meaning to six to midnight
  16. Travis went over 660' at 5:50am this morning according to the LCRA River Operations Report page. Gates are still open at Wirtz and Starke so should continue to rise. *Edit to ask: Anyone know what level sometimes islands are covered? Been so long I don't remember.
  17. We would hit up Waterloo Brewing Co. some afternoons when we were slow at work. Stars Wars Pinball and a few pints of Ed's Best Bitter. God Bless you and RIP, Steve Anderson.
  18. Chuch-e-Cheese used to sell beer too. Made the kids birthday parties much more enjoyable back in the day (way back in the day). No idea if they still do as I haven't stepped foot in one since the early aughts. But a few beers and some Stargate and Joust sounds like a really, really good time.
  19. Yeah Post-Covid it was a shell of itself. But it begat some damn good restaurants. Jack Allen's, Salt Trader, Day Maker, Odd Duck, Barley Swine, and Sour Duck. And related Turf n Surf. For those of us who arrived in Austin the 80s, ZTejas was the tits+.
  20. Pop Up Shower in the 78657 RIGHT NOW!
  21. well that was a Dolly Parton size epic bust
  22. *Edit: Just noticed that Radarscope hasn't changed the name of the Radar from Ft. Cavazos. #Resist

    Tacos

Same person that owns Sawyer & Co owns De Nada. And it may be gringo, but it's damn good. As are their mezcal drinks.
