  1. Over the weekend went up to Fort Davis to visit the McDonald Observatory. This is an amazing facility owned by UT that does cutting-edge research in Astronomy. If you have a chance to visit, I highly suggest doing so. The night star party is a hell of a lot of fun and I'm not even into astronomy. Apparently little brother plays some small part in research that is done there and is a partner in consortium that is building some super telescope in the Chilean desert. This sign on the property graphically depicts aggy's contribution to the project, and is also a good indicator of aggy's importance in the world relative to us.
  2. No, they don't look the same, least not to me.
  3. Nope, only the Y gets that APR. I'm replacing mine since it's 4 years old and warranty is about to run out. New 3 performance models are faster, better looking, and handle better. This model is a total redesign and it gets rave reviews. With the 7.5K tax rebate my payments will be lower. And I know people giving financial advice would say this is financially silly, it's not a big deal to me. I live pretty frugally and this is my one indulgence. I love fast cars and I don't want to spend six figures to get one.
  4. That just sucks. There are shortages of this medication for people who have legitimate obesity issues like me that work out, watch what they eat, etc. It's not for pigs to continue to be pigs or to get down a dress size for your high school reunion. Fuck these shitbags. I hate humans.
  5. I've been on Zepbound for 4 weeks this Friday, down exactly 20 lbs. I've been working out the same as before (Six 30 minute HIIT workouts a week, upper body and lower body 2 X a week and spin cycle cardio 2 X a week) but I'm definitely seeing some loss in muscle mass. At age 62 I'm not sure how I'm going to regain that. But my blood pressure is the lowest it's been in 30 years, so I guess it's a worthwhile trade off.
  6. I've been meaning to get a Dexa scan but haven't done it yet. I'm getting about 120 grams of protein a day, but it's probably not enough.
  7. I'll address the "etc." part of the title of this thread. My wife and I both exercise 6 times a week doing High Intensity Interval Training weight and cardio workouts. We eat a pretty clean diet, high in protein and try to stay away from simple carbs and processed food. Both of us have been struggling with weight gain for 25 years. Even with diet and exercise, we couldn't get back down to a healthy weight/body fat %. My cardiologist has said I'm "very fit overweight guy." We started Zepbound last month, the weight loss version of the diabetes drug Mounjaro. Of the current obesity drugs, it is the most effective by a slight margin. My results have been pretty amazing. My wife as well. At $550 a month for each of us it is taking a slight financial toll on us but honestly I can't think of a better thing to spend money on. While it has a definite physical effect on improving weight loss, the fact that it convinces your brain that you are full on much smaller portions of food and quiets the "food noise" cravings is what makes this so incredible. Problem is that you can't find this or the other obesity drugs anywhere. My last dose from my previous prescription was friday and I can't source my next 7.5 dose from any pharmacy. I've had CVS, Walmart, HEB search out to 450 miles away and nothing. Eli Lilly, the manufacturer, is pumping out the starter dose of 2.5 and it's available, but none of the doses you titrate up to can be found. I guess they want to maximize profits by getting you started and force you to stay at lower available dose so it slows down your weight loss from and keeps the $550 a month coming in for a longer period of time. But, the stuff does work. If you can find it.
  8. Yep. Same for me except I was a bit older than you. Went to all 2005 home games, OU, Big 12 championship, and the 2006 Rose Bowl that season. I seriously wondered what the point in getting season tickets for the upcoming years was. I'd never see a season and an NC game like that again.
  9. Trinity and Brazos aren't that much different distance-wise, and both can take forever to exit if it's a competitive game and everyone stays till the end and leave the stadium at the same time. I parked at one for Bama and the other for LSU, both took over an hour to exit. Equal suckage.
  10. I'm not complaining about the cost. I don't mind funding UT athletics . It helps my alma mater and I'm OK with that. And while it is a pain in the ass to get out of the garages, I'm in an air conditioned car with my wife and 2 UT grad sons shooting the shit as opposed to walking in the heat. It's actually quality time for me. I just thought that with my loyalty points and donation levels I would have gotten LBJ.
  11. Went ahead and chose my seats today during my assigned times slot. Kept the same ones as last year. What surprised me is how bad the parking selection was. Anybody get anything better than Trinity garage that chose today (Wednesday)? Kind of thought I had a shot at LBJ lots or San Jacinto garage.
  12. That's what I did as well.
  13. Considering the Feds are giving me money to buy the car, and my automobile operational costs are a fraction of what they were when I had my Audi, I'm not opposed to making him a little richer.
  14. Looking to replace my Tesla Model 3 performance with another Model 3 performance. When we got my wife's Model Y last year in March, I found a rate of 3.99% at US Senate FCU, which was at the time a lower rate than the 4.5% or higher I was seeing elsewhere. Probably a promotional rate. Love to find a similar deal, anybody seeing anything under 5% APR for 60 months with an over 820 credit score? Lowest so far I've found was 5.24.
  15. Have season ticket seat upgrades and parking selection times been announced yet?
  16. Springsteen and the E Street Band for the opening gig of the 2024 tour on Tuesday in Phoenix. Looked like an AARP convention, both in the stands and on the stage. But even at 74 the guy puts on a close to 3 hour show and has more energy than performers half his age.
  17. Just got back from a 6 day trip to Miami and Phoenix, going to Spain for 10 days next month. I'm at the point that it's tough to get excited about traveling when I know I won't have my BB 2000 bidet to use during that time.
  18. "Beat" doesn't really describe that match. They were favored if I recall correctly. Our ladies curb stomped them. They had pretty much given up by the final set.
  19. Safari worked fine for me.
  20. So apparently, Micky Mantle is partially responsible for Johnny Manziel's train wreck life . https://www.texasmonthly.com/arts-entertainment/johnny-manziel-shannon-sharpe-interview/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=Organic Social&utm_campaign=SND&fbclid=IwAR2o_H80GXCmGSnMLGR3Yy29j1C71esHQasD_HBtQbo8AqCeezMAEzo-Xgk
  21. LOL, also watched it on the way back from Europe, good flick.
  22. Been sous viding for a few years now, foolproof way to make a perfect steak. Recently moved to a new home, now have to cook on an electric range where before I had gas. I could put a heavy Calphalon pan on my old gas range and get a great sear on a ribeye, not so much on an electric range. Any recommendations for cookware on an electric range?
  23. Guitar player for the E street band, David Chase briefly appeared in one scene, Southside Johnny Lyons.
  24. CDC said at the Town Hall this evening that individual game ticket prices went down so that the entire 7 game home season would cost the same as last year's 6 home game season. My price for LHF gift and game tickets are exactly the same as last year.
