The movie you just watched
Tremors is on tv. Best FU in film history. Who died and made you Einstein? Guess you picked the wrong rec room to break into. Hey Earl, I found the ass-end. You ever seen anything like this? Sure Earl, we all know about them we just didn't tell you.

Identifying Trump rioters
It's amazing how we forget this stuff. In the Miami hearing, a federal prosecutor, a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent and Tarrio’s own lawyer described his undercover work and said he had helped authorities prosecute more than a dozen people in various cases involving drugs, gambling and human smuggling. Tarrio, in an interview with Reuters Tuesday, denied working undercover or cooperating in cases against others. “I don’t know any of this,” he said, when asked about the transcript. “I don’t recall any of this.” Law-enforcement officials and the court transcript contradict Tarrio’s denial. In a statement to Reuters, the former federal prosecutor in Tarrio’s case, Vanessa Singh Johannes, confirmed that “he cooperated with local and federal law enforcement, to aid in the prosecution of those running other, separate criminal enterprises, ranging from running marijuana grow houses in Miami to operating pharmaceutical fraud schemes.”

AISD's (and other districts) Plans for Schools Starting August 18
From the legislature.. This is a committee decision at this point. SB 15 is touted as a measure with enough guardrails to make sure students succeed and to help those who might fall through the cracks. The bill would pay for virtual learning until September 2023 and give local school districts and charter schools the autonomy to set up their own virtual learning programs. Lawmakers set the fall 2023 date to allow them to revisit the issue during their next regular session.

Afghan War ending, foretold by The Onion 10 years Ago [DT thread ruined by politics]
I feel that if we had stayed in Afghanistan for another 20 years or so, we could have built an Afghan army that would have slowed down the Taliban advance quite a bit more John Cleese

Wish they would build a pool. What an eyesore. I figured Harlingen was good because they had the State champ in 100m. He's gone, right?

Old, white Larry Brown? He cheats in recruiting, right? Hardaway already pulled mucho shenanigans with some stud two years ago. Looks like a recipe for disaster. But that basically describes the city of Memphis anyway. -former resident
