  1. Yes, but isn't it common to have more than one or to have the penultimate stud at these schools?
  2. Thank you Hiring Beard next offseason would cost the Longhorns $16.5 million.
  3. Yes, for sure. Didn't I just read something about Beard's new contract and some sort of Texas poison pill clause?
  4. My personal belief is recruits aren't really that in tune with living in a"cool" city or having a new arena. Although I readily admit that these elite athletes are exposed to more of Austin beforehand than I knew about it as an incoming freshman, I still think that the team members, the coach and the expected success of the team are more important. If I want to get coached up I go to Beard, If I'm Allen, Bamba, Hayes and am on the verge of making a boatload of $, I go to UT where the coach is my buddy and laid back and I don't have my tail kicked as I await the draft.
  5. And the shots of Harden whining when he commits a foul are grand.
  6. Ok, so what do the Rockets and James Harden do differently next game? How do they adapt?
  7. When relying on a referee to make a call, yes.
  8. IMO, this why you cannot win w/Harden. The nuances of the rules can be argued all day, but the weak spot in Harden's game is that he is depending on someone else to make him successful. Yes, many, many other players do this, but when you lead the league in free throw attempts you're depending on it more often. There's always going to be a game in a season or a playoff where you're not going to get that call and you need to change your game. Durant had a season where he invented that double arm swing while holding the ball making contact with the defender's outstretched arms. After a season it stopped being called and he adapted. Harden is also fighting the addage that at the end of a game the referees swallow their whistles.
  9. Years ago, for homecoming the club I sponsored got a junk car and sold whacks with a sledgehammer as a fundraiser. Hours into the pummeling the driver's door panel separates and a loaded pistol falls out. Security is called. Silence. A couple weeks ago, I receive an email from a parent that a knife was displayed on an activity bus I was driving for another school. I call the principal. Later I call back to see what the outcome was, as an athlete on my team just pulled a knife and it might have a bearing. "It was handled" was the schools response. Uh, ok. When I asked an ass't principal why I was out of the loop, he said all these type of activities are dealt with on a need-to-know basis to minimize rumors and news coverage.
  10. daughter: MOOOOOM! wife: Honey, let's not tell your father quite yet. it will just make him upset and he'll worry while we're shopping. I'm so glad Sonic has these drinks for $1 during happy hour.
  11. What was his job here? Was he a good recruiter?
  12. Bacon is way overrated. I realize that fat makes meat taste good, but a bacon strip looks disgusting. I don't want my shrimp, quail or Jack-in-the-Box wrapped in bacon. It stands alone, leave it alone.
  13. Does Billy Donovan keep his job for another year if they lose this series?
  14. So this is what goes on around here in the offseason? yeesh
  15. Does the CS Blinn have football or is the football in ice creamville?
  16. One of the great lines from "Tremors" after they find the worm dead. Earl," Did you know about these" KB, "Yeah, we all knew about them, we just didn't tell you."
  17. make sure to let Lucci know, so he can add it to the excuse list.
  18. Are you from Iowa? That's the kinda daily discussion I get up there. How about the parking lot, could they have squeezed in another space or two w/more efficient striping?
