  1. So weird how the right is now fixated on slavery. Re-construct statutes and tributes to white, confederate “heroes” and downplay slavery. But they’re adamant that they’re not racist.
  2. Zelensky should reposition Ukraine as wanting to expel illegal aliens (Russians) from within their borders and praising how Trump has lowered new illegal immigration to 0. And how the rest of the world should look up to Trump in securing borders.
  3. So strange how they continue to retain MS from Microsoft but I guess brand experts tell them their viewers wouldn't be able to comprehend a completely new brand name. EDIT: The new logo and tag line (My Source, News, Opinion, World) is horrific. I can understand how they need to remove themselves from NBC and the peacock logo but I'm lost with their new logo. Is that supposed to be the US flag with the stars and blue square hidden while its blowing in the wind? I don't get it.
  4. Like how Loving county has 64 residents but 97 votes in the 2024 election? And about 1/3 of those residents were under 18 in 2020. (The 64 residents were from the 2020 census, and its estimated to be lower today.) (I realize there is a long history of relatives, of Loving county officials, voting in Loving county even though they admittedly do not live there most of the time.)
  5. Most likely Abbott would ban mail in voting for large counties only.
  6. Stamp was great in his supporting roles. Loved him from Wall Street. "I could break you, mate, in two pieces over my knees. You know it, I know it. I could buy you six times over. I could dump the stock just to burn your ass" In thinking how the movie implied more backstory between Gekko and Wildman, a prequel series about 70s-80s Wall St. could be a good watch.
  7. his core base has no choice but to continue supporting him. They're too far gone. Sure there is always someone who falls to the side with a new crazy take but it's minimal.
  8. The best part is that Trump frequently caves to the most recent people who speak to him. He walks out of a meeting with Putin and mimics Russian talking points. There is a fair chance that the European leaders today can easily manipulate Trump into their viewpoint. But you definitely cannot fight against Trump. You need to show him how he's the smartest guy in the world, and its inconceivable that he hasn't won the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts. I don't believe for a second that all of these leaders dont' have psychologists on their payroll telling them how to deal with Trump.
  9. It is unrealistic to think that Crimea is going back to Ukraine. Short of a larger invasion force. And if Ukraine can trade Crimea to get their other territories back, that might be a reasonable trade off. Ukraine could probably find a method to receive financial reparations for Crimea at some level. As for any promise to not join NATO, that is a worthless trade off. Sure I promise not to do something until I think that I can do it without consequences. There is also a gray area of being a NATO member and being a member in spirit only. Ok, we won't be a card carrying member country but we will be a peripheral member who participates in military exercises. Of course, most likely the real agreement will be more than just a one sentence promise.
  10. American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology came out with new blood pressure guidelines or more precisely management/prevention. I like they're discussing more about cognitive issues and not just heart disease. They still qualify: <120/70 - normal <129/79 - elevated <140/89 - stage 1 140+/90+ - stage 2 I can fall under any of the first 3 depending on the time of day and when I last took lisinopril. I believe 135/85 is the highest that I ever recorded at home but I can also be in the normal range at times. The new (or continued) recommendations: lower daily salt limits cut out alcohol or at least no more than 2 drinks per day. 1 for women. more exercise & stress relief I took their PREVENT calculator. Link My scores (10 year and 30 year chances) using my 2024 annual physical #s: Cardiovascular disease: 11% 33% Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease 5% 17% Heart Failure 8% 27% I think I'm in better shape this year so actually looking forward to my Fall physical to see where I stand now. I assume that because I take BP and cholesterol medication the calculator will always show me at a decent risk since the medication indicates that I do have a problem.
  11. There is also a growing right belief that wives don't need to vote, which is only a short jump away from saying that single women don't need to vote since their father is the head of the household. My response to that is that no one is making the wife or daughter vote if they strongly feel that the man in their life should make these decisions. but why take the vote away from women who want to exercise their right?
  12. Behind the scenes, many GOP politicians are not onboard with elimination of mail-in voting because 1) they're winning with the current system, 2) they get a large % of senior citizens voting, who over index in mail-in voting. This is also why these politicians make noise about carving out exceptions for old and/or disabled voters. It doesn't eliminate the threat of voter fraud which they're happy to turn a blind eye.
  13. I need to work on being more concise in my writing. Saying Fox News host would have been enough.
  14. yep. I believe Will Cain had a CNN show way back in the past when he was viewed as a potential Tucker Carlson. Then he had a co-host. Then the co-host didn't have Will Cain. And its not that his takes necessarily went against CNN viewer's opinions, they just weren't that good. The interview with Talarico demonstrated how Cain has a loose understanding of the facts and can't easily talk his way around a high quality, adversarial guest. He needs to be talking directly to the viewer where he can't be challenged.
  15. These guys are pathetic in that they have to patrol a safe neighborhood in large numbers. I realize that they're only following orders but there comes a point that you should be embarrassed about the tasks you're asked to perform.
  16. How many federally or state controlled roads break even? Airports also seem to require a lot of tax dollars to operate. Why is rail held to a standard that other modes of transportation are counted as a common good?
  17. As a side note, because of this song, I think of George Strait when I think of Amarillo and vice versa. Not exactly the place that I would want to be synonymous with.
  18. Moose out front should have told you that it's their belief that only white people have a right to fight tyranny. Hence when there's a facebook rumor that the feds, under a Dem president, will send in fed troops to Texas, Abbott will send in Texas based troops to counteract it.
  19. Still images can always look off but why does Patel's posture look so awkward. Is he simultaneously trying to puff out his chest while flexing his arms? I just stood up to attempt that pose and it felt strange.
  20. according to Sen Tuberville, you should be careful who you hang out with, who you are, and where you are. And if you're doing anything potentially suspicious, make sure you have your paperwork. And hope that the fed care about due process. That day. Some in the libertarian frame of mind do not understand that border patrol has long had the right to stop you based on reasonable suspicion that just can't be a hunch. You might win out in court if they don't have reasonable suspicion but there isn't a judge out there to protect you in the moment. If they pulled me over, I would just give my drivers license or whatever they ask for. It sucks but it gets you moving in the right direction ASAP.
  21. Is it just me or are there too many businesses that now include clauses with contracted stakeholders forbidding public complaints?
  22. Had an invasive weed in the middle of some st. augustine. Roundup killed the grass + weeds. Weeds sprouted back up but the grass didn't.
  23. When you get a 1,500% discount, do you get paid for your prescriptions?
  24. RFK Jr. looks to be targeting everything that he said he wouldn’t during his confirmations. Crazy that lying means absolutely nothing in DC. then again Trump was not going to follow Project 2025 and that is the exact playbook
  25. Experts only talk about the potential of the 51% attack (see above) or if quantum computing breaks the cryptography. Of course if that happens then most passwords, across all systems, will also be hackable. Just as there is research for quantum computing, this is other research to prevent this from happening. Most likely both by groups that share info and this will not be a problem. Crypto users are susceptible to being personally hacked, giving up their passcodes, or just losing their passwords and recovery codes. The average person could not be trusted to self-custody their codes, and as the saying goes half of the people are dumber than the average person. And if you add AI to the mix, hackers don't need to worry about hacking the blockchain, they can target the weakest link: people.
