  1. How about Jon Singleton? Shortened a promising career because he likes smoking pot too much. Gets back to the MLB after years away, and in his first post season at bat, pinch hitting, gets the all important walk in the 9th. It could end up as his only playoff appearance. even the call to pinch hit Diaz for Pena was unexpected. I expected Pena to hit and THEN pinch hit Diaz for Maldonado. Why not switch it up, and take out the struggling reigning WS MVP. The easy coaching decision was to play it safe but why give Texas what was expected.
  2. In my theory they can since the House has ceased to exist. You only need to use your imagination.
  3. To me the entire 118th House of Representatives have ceased to operate and thereby have decided to remove themselves from power. im ok letting the senate introduce, pass bills and letting Biden sign them into law without the House. The House can rejoin once they decide to act like adults. The downside with this idea is it ruins the schoolhouse rock song.
  4. You got me searching. One problem with the Tories in Tamworth was that the previous officeholder, a male conservative, was caught in a scandal of groping other men. He was Tamworth’s MP for 13 years. That kind of misbehavior can lead to a party switch in an election especially in that direction.
  5. Imagine some one so arrogant that they post a drawing of Jesus next to them. If Obama or Biden did something like this, evangelicals would be flipping out about how sacrilegious this is portraying. Instead, I would think many would buy this trump art for their mantle.
  6. Gaetz is giving his permission for them to punished? How nice of them.
  7. Trump: “Trump likes lawyers who don’t plead guilty and support my prosecutors.”
  8. 5 years probation, $5K, letter, community service. And he's filing his plea as a first time offender so at the end of his probation, he can legally claim that he was never convicted. However I would assume that state bars will have an issue with a felony. Or is that not a big deal. non-lawyer here.
  9. We're not far from the point where Trump-sphere guilty pleas won't even merit a break in the programming. Perhaps they will just have an end-of-week recap story.
  10. She's doing anything she can to get the attention off her misconduct story/embezzlement. She wants to inflame the left media and get her far right base loving her to entice them to forget she has personally been stealing from the taxpayers. Allegedly. She's probably calling in favors to get TV time on Hannity, etc.
  11. I know some pleas are pursued/accepted by the prosecution because even they might believe their case is weak. While maybe that's possible here, I presume that Chesebro and Powell didn't believe that. They don't seem like the type to back down easily.
  12. John Stewart's Apple TV show cancelled because he was going to have an episode about China and Apple had a problem with that. They couldn't agree on a compromise, if a compromise was even on the table. https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/20/media/jon-stewart-apple/index.html
  13. Must suck for Chesebro to see the last of his co-defendants plead guilty, just as jury selection is starting. Which I'm glad to hear. Hopefully he doesn't seek a plea because I want to hear Sydney Powell tell all on the stand.
  14. I actually believe Trump's lawyer when he blames the campaign for being so disorganized they don't know what is on their own website. Not excusing it but does anyone think Trump hires/appoints people that will in turn hire a competent team?
  15. CNN said that Crenshaw is on record that this is the last vote that he goes with Jordan. Of course that doesn’t mean he wouldnt flip back if the numbers were there for Jordan.
  16. I assume that Jordan and the GOP leadership will continue these pointless votes until more GOP vote against Jordan just to move this on.
  17. Jordan can’t even get through the Cs or Ds without losing. McCarthy previously ran thru many speaker votes because he was moving the needle. Jordan seems like he wants to underscore the people who are voting against him so the MAGA machinery can go after those reps.
  18. And not to mention that she tried to get the legislature to change the freedom of information laws when a reporter/busy-body tried to learn more about this situation. It should be noted that the friend on the trip owns some type of small business but the business is nowhere near selling podium/lecterns. And the podium in question is not worth 19K when new. Surprisingly the cost is in the 1000s but not 19,000. Finally people have pointed out that $20,000 is the spend threshold that more information is required by the Arkansas govt. Seems like Sarah has gotten into the habit of spending $19K very often. hmmm.
  19. The House appears to have never considered that the majority party could never decide on a candidate for Speaker. There should be a rule that after X days, they should shift to a plurality of the votes. If the majority can’t decide then they really don’t have a majority.
  20. This whole fiasco is typical for the GOP. They can't make a group decision, so the decision is to kick the can down the road 2-3 months. Our govt doesn't exist so Jordan can achieve his life goals. In last few weeks, he's at best the 3rd choice of the GOP and most likely McHenry would get more votes as Speaker. Instead the House is having to bend over backwards because Jordan wants longer to campaign. That's not how this works. Has any expert weighed in on whether a Speaker pro tempore in terms of presidential succession? I would assume that role does not equate to the Speaker's role as 2nd in line. Of course, if McHenry was in the temp role, and something occurred to Biden and Harris, the GOP would be screaming McHenry should be named president over the Senate president pro tempore (Patty Murray.)
  21. San Marcos ponying up $175K for their city failing to respond and laughing about the Democrat bus driving down 35 and having MAGA harass them. https://www.texastribune.org/2023/10/17/trump-train-san-marcos-lawsuit-settlement/ Because why not, let's list the still-employed police officers that were named as ignoring the call for help. San Marcos police corporal Matthew Daenzer Chase Stapp, San Marcos’ former director of public safety and current assistant city manager Brandon Winkenwerder, an assistant police chief
  22. What's the noise out of the House? Are they looking to pass the Senate school voucher bill as-is, alter it, or reject it outright?
