  1. I'm not as worried about the Dems losing the midterms as I am worried that the midterms won't take place. You know Trump will desperately try to manufacture a crisis that allows him to institute some form of martial law and delay the vote. They've pretty much told us this. Will it work? I have no idea, but I also don't trust this DOJ and SCOTUS to ever do the right thing if it hurts Trump and the Republicans.
  2. Every team has injury issues that we can use to over-parse results. Texas fans are unique in that we do it to our own team. I've been following Texas football for over 40 years and this is absolutely a nearly unique and persistent phenomenon. Let's all wear hairshirts and flog ourselves while we're at it.
  3. I don't understand why Vandy roaring back in Q4 counts against us, UGA running away from us in Q4 counts against us, but we don't get credit for a 20-0 second half against OU. Be consistent, for fuck's sake.
  4. The bright side will be a year in which we beat OU, A&M, and Arkansas. Small consolation, but not nothing.
  5. The Zelensky angle that first occurred to me was the sad irony of Trump scolding people to treat MBS with respect after he and JD Couchfucker absolutely went off the rails on Zelensky earlier this year.
  6. So is La Madeleine "fast food" or "fast casual"? I'd probably say the latter, but I could sustain myself there for awhile.
  7. The rooster is hilarious. I hope his name is "Todd".
  8. "It's political gerrymandering, not racial gerrymandering" seems a distinction without much difference.
  9. Dismemberment, defenestration, polonium tea, there are options.
  10. Fogerty was on Steven Colbert last night. Colbert interviewed him and then he performed a medley of hits. The first 3 were a little rough, given his 80 year old voice, but he wrapped it up with "Fortunate Son", and his anger was palpable.
  11. That's so cool. Sport?
  12. We need to use that phrase on Saturday: "Quiet, Piggy."
  13. Does it have to be a chain? Because Top Notch has a nice variety of pretty good options, (but no breakfast).
  14. What, they couldn't cram Guy Clark onto that bill? Psssh.
  15. Is that capo'ed to C#m? I haven't tried to figure it out yet. A couple of thoughts: 1. Stapleton gets insanely great guitar tones, and it's nothing complicated. Great hands, great guitars, great amps. 2. I want that Firebird bass.
  16. Dry goods (TP, paper towels, detergent, etc.) still work for empty nesters, but yeah, I'm not buying a 5-pack of nice ribeyes and freezing 3 of them just to save a couple of bucks per pound.
  17. I don't disagree with much of what you've said regarding sonics, but the whole MTV look and feel of grunge thing was hard to avoid. Oh look, ANOTHER band in ratty flannel shirts and ripped jeans! Haven't seen that in a minute. That said, I always thought Dean DeLeo seemed to come out of the womb as a rock star, not unlike Joe Perry.
  18. Hey, we landed Austin Goosby. At least Miller will have some talent to work with for awhile.
  19. True, but the actual spigot he had turned was in central California. And, it was a colossal waste that was a considerable net negative.
  20. That dumbass still thinks there is a water line between central California and Los Angeles. The water he ordered released during the January wildfires didn't get within 100 miles of LA. It partially filled a dry lake bed near Bakersfield.
  21. I don't know, I'll let that slide for a moment. Backstage access isn't always vetted by the artist.
  22. For me I just didn't pay much attention because it felt like they were jumping on the bandwagon, releasing "Core" a year after "Nevermind" and "Ten". I mean, I could hear the hooks but the grunge saturation was ramping up at an incredible pace. I was skeptical of just about everyone.
  23. For the longest time I thought of Robert DeLeo as just the dorky bass player whose brother was the hypercool guitarist. Then I saw that Beato video -- holy shit, that guy is super talented.
  24. I can't believe any of them are still alive.
