  1. A thousand great pizza joints in NYC and you surlies are arguing about two of them. I had a slice in Hell's Kitchen a while back, couldn't even tell you the name of the joint, it was about 10 feet wide and 30 feet deep. Transcendent.

Brisket, I hear ya on La Mancha. We eat there a few times a year and ALWAYS run into old neighborhood school parents (HP/Lamar/McCallum). I like the vibe of the place but the food is definitely second tier.
  3. Arch has been drawn offsides?
  4. I remember when my parents bought a matching washer/dryer and oven for our kitchen. (Yes, people did laundry in their kitchen back in the olden days.) There were three color choices -- avocado green, dark bronze, and some kind of mustard yellow. No white. No black. No stainless steel. They went with the dark bronze.
  5. Gotcha. Missed that.
  6. I really like it. The neck is great. I might swap out the pickup, but as is it's pretty good out of the box. It's not "my" sound but it's a nice change of pace. Good looking, too. (The guitar, not me.)
  7. 6 teams (A&M, UGA, Ole Miss, 'bama, OU, Vandy)
  8. My son sensed that, and I didn't coach him whatsoever. He didn't last past Webelos. He was very uncomfortable in Scouts, and frankly didn't have much fun. I'm glad I will never get bombarded by tree limbs as I sleep at Lost Pines. Fuck the asshole that runs that place.

I dunno . . . $18 for a 3 enchilada plate seems a bit steep when Y Mas will sell you 2 for $9-ish. Just up the road, and probably way better.
  10. Gosh, the greatest businessman in the history of the world made ANOTHER bad hire?
  11. I dealt with Big 3 US Auto for a short while, trying to get them to adapt a green alternative/hybrid approach. They are quite entrenched in what's working and making them money, for good reason. The barriers they put up regarding adoption of new technology are significant and intractable for most suppliers. Plus, FSD clearly sucks.
  12. You can say that again. And again.
  13. Except Junior.
  14. Well, my DVR timed out so I (fortunately?) missed the last minute. I don't see it as a lost cause this season. I like the fact that we have a legit post player, we can hit layups (except that one late, oof) and we play hard. The lack of a PG is glaring. But, we're big and can kinda shoot, so I'll hang up and listen.
  15. Please don't launch the bat signal.

    Doing God's work.
  17. Holy shit Weaver never fails to astonish with his speed.
  18. Badass. My bandmate plays a 50W JCM800 -- iconic tone.
  19. Where and when is their stupid yell practice this year? Midnight at the capitol?
  20. Seeing Arch's ability to navigate the pocket is refreshing. I'm to the point where I expect it. He does still tend to put too much heat on certain passes that don't need it, but those deep balls against Arky were eye-opening. (Of course almost every one of them was to a wide open receiver, but still.)
  21. Scott Jennings is the worst. He's the Stephen Miller of pundits. Nothing but a smug, egotistic jackass with no moral compass, no decency, no redeeming qualities whatsoever. He's Bob Stoops.
  22. Thank god you didn't pick a different photo.
  23. Good dog, Willie Beans. I had one of those anxiety-inducing close calls with my little buddy Pluto the chihuahua the other day. She's 9, so getting up there. When our big dog Gumbo was nearing the end I made custom food she could keep down, and so of course I had to give Pluto treats at the same time. Now we call it "knee hugs" -- you want a milkbone? gotta give me a knee hug. The other day she just couldn't elevate. I had all the terrifying thoughts -- what if she has a tumor? what if she has a spinal cord or hip injury? The next day she was fine. Dammit, Pluto. Go bark at the mailman, again.
  24. I am ridiculously attracted to Jayne Mansfield's daughter, Mariska Hargitay. Oh, and while I'm not attracted to him, this old photo still cracks me up. Well done, Paul.

    RIP Jimmy Cliff

Peaches. Wow, haven't heard that name in a couple of decades. Two of my many wooden vinyl crates were purchased at Peaches in St. Louis.
