  1. Well, you kind of assumed the defenses aren't capable of stopping the explosive plays. I assume the success rate drops as a team tries to move the ball farther per play. Sark is just saying that the math still supports that style of offense as opposed to old school 3 yards and a cloud of dust carcinogenic black pellets.
  2. I went to that first Lollapalooza dour. Dallas stop. You know, the first (second?) stop after NiN dropped out and was replaced by . . . Violent Femmes. Fuck me. (Not that I don't like Violent Femmes, but they weren't exactly a powerhouse of a band.)
  3. Then the math should show a shift towards more productive extended drives, and it apparently isn't, so . . .
  4. Sark literally (literally!) said in a press conference this week that his philosophy is to gain yards on explosive plays because the analyticis show that scoring drops precipitously when an offensive is predicated on long, grind it out drives.
  5. Let's call it good stuff for as long as we can. Joe Ely is probably in my top 5 live performers of all time. He hs been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia. This doesn't end well. Pour one out for Joe:
  6. He's the worst kind of ally. Ignore him. Same shit, different day.
  7. Our conference schedule would be stronger if we didn't have to play A&M.
  8. And they have nowhere near enough dumpsters to handle it all. Both our younger kids rotated out of that area over the last couple of years, as the "condos" are essentially mid-century modern prisons and the flith between buildings is remarkable. It's like parking. They should have enough capacity to handle the trash. They don't.
  9. I really like the band EXCEPT for Tom's "wheedle wheedle" guitar theatrics. But yeah, he's a very smart guy with a strong moral compass.
  10. It's true. I turned onto the west mall just the other day from the drag (excuse me, "Guad") and almost stepped on a still-hot s'more. That place is a hellhole.
  11. They didn't go mainstream and sell out, their debut album rocketed off the charts.
  12. I got stranded at DFW for damn near 24 hours a few years back. Yeah, I tried the airport BBQ. Shouldn't have.
  13. My favorite part of dog stick stories is when they're big enough to carry a stick longer than the entrance door is wide. Gets 'em every time.
  14. Did he make it?
  15. My wife and I got married in late September here in Austin, and the weather was phenomenal. Way more years than not Mother Nature repeats herself. It doesn't need to be in the 60s to be glorious.
  16. Wow, she has a great voice.
  17. Love me some Supertramp. My music geek fans can't understand why I don't like ELO, they see them as similar bands. Supertramp's records sounded SO damn good.
  18. Well, Arch & Wingo need some more time to get on the same page. That will help. Moore & Livingstone round out a nice WR corps along with Endries who appears to be even better than advertised. I'm not so down on the OL as some, and I think a healthy pairing of Baxter and Wisner will make very serviceable if not particularly exciting RB options. Getting Colin Simmons off the brainfart express along with cleaning up a few other dumb mistakes and I think this team is absolutely playoff caliber. Most every team I've seen this year has issues. We are not alone.
  19. Oh no, the man who has enriched his family by billions of dollars this year still owes $83M. How will he afford it?
  20. Huh? Ohio State gained 203 yards and scored 14 points. San Jose State gained 273 yards and scored 7 points. Exactly how much stingier does this defense need to be?
  21. I assumed the "telephone" vibe of the final vocals was the intent!
  22. I dig it. That electric guitar part is awesome, it conveys the desert in the same way that a lot of Arizona bands have managed to do, must be something in the (lack of) water (Sidewinders, QOTSA, etc.). As far as the mix goes, I feel like the synth and ganged 'verbed vocals are a little high in the chorus, fighting with the lead vocal. I don't mind the outro mix at all. I need to take some guitar lessons.
  23. I usually roll my own pasta sauce, but in a time crunch I'll grab a jar of Rao's. This Central Market brand was on sale a couple of weeks ago so I took a chance. Honestly, it's as good as Rao's at half the price, and has a similarly basic ingredient list. I threw in a pound of HEB's Italian sausage from the meat counter and had poor man's bolognese in less than an hour.
  24. I'm digging this Epi LP Jr. Already thinking of upgrading the pickup, because why not? What's the go-to best P90 out there?
  25. Semper ubi sub ubi
