  1. My son gave me a rice cooker when I started having to make custom food for our aging dog (RIP, Gumbo). I admit, I was skeptical, and it doesn't make BETTER rice that a pot on the stove, but it's super easy to use and really consistent.
  2. I figure it's gonna hurt me at some level. (Already has.) If it hurts those morons who voted for Trump more? Oh well, FAFO. We warned you.
  3. I try to think of these things in terms of management (a role I tend to despise). If someone who reported to me had fucked up at the Four Seasons level they would be fired by phone before they got back to the office. In this administration? Just another day.
  4. It's so damn sad. Cornell is one of the great American universities, especially in STEM. They should be beyond the reach of political machinations. Here we are.
  5. Cornell falls in line. Let me guess, the $60M goes straight to Trump. Cornell pays $60M to restore federal funding
  6. Would it matter? The "access" they have now is worthless.
  7. Not too far off the mark.
  8. Rural New Jersey is some of the most beautiful countryside in the United States. It's not one giant Newark.
  9. Feels Snider-esque:
  10. We still go there. Quality fluctuates a bit but it's never been even close to average, and what restaurant doesn't have some variablity? I don't get the "pricey" argument, either. Yeah, it's not a mom 'n pop TexMex joint. It's a beautiful restaurant in a part of town that doesn't have many of those, and for $25-$35 an entree you can get all kinds of delicous food. I think every Austinite should go there once and judge for themselves.
  11. In my prior life I co-developed, designed and manufactured large energy storage M/G/FW devices. The housings were cast iron, many inches thick. It took a lot of trial and error to dial in the tolerancing, draft angles, chimney locations etc. Those cast iron shops have so much experience, we never could have come up with those processes on our own. Here's a photo of one device with half the housing in place:
  12. Uh, no. You do you.
  13. That was some comment. I'm sure it was our fault the ball spin reversed and the ball went out of bounds. Come on, Bilas.
  14. No idea, 5C, 38DD, something something
  15. You have zero evidence to back that up.
  16. Why are you suddenly discussing game play?
  17. You have to be the absolute worst at parties. Do you have any joy in life?
  18. I hope it's all insured. I have a Bach trumpet somewhere I could loan them if I can find it?
  19. Yeah, the top 10 that excludes one of the 4 major conferences.
  20. I would guess our closing strength of schedule is the hardest in the country. Can anyone name a tougher upcoming schedule? That matters. Now, if you want to say that teams currently above us might be less likely to suffer a loss, I wouldn't argue the point. I also would argue that their loss will be penalized more than ours. We're on the hairy edge, but a loss doesn't necessarily eliminate us.
