That's too simplistic. If we're going to be penalized for losing at Florida, then Alabama should be equally punished for losing at FSU. Quality of wins and losses should matter, too, and that goes in our favor against most if not all of these CFP contenders.
I can't stomach being slotted below BYU. That just doesn't make sense. They have no wins of note. We have 3.
Alabama is a tougher call, because they did beat UGA once. But, they lost to OU at home and we beat the snot out of OU at a neutral site. And, their game against UGA was less competitive by a good margin than ours was.
We will get fucked because we played and lost to tOSU in Columbus, book it. So much for what the committee says.
(It's a lot closer to Dripping Springs than Austin, and I don't care.) I got dragged to some "holiday market" this morning and on the way back spotted Route 12 Filling Station. "Pull over, honey, I need a beer." We ordered a margherita pizza and I'll be damned if it wasn't a great pie. I didn't see the oven, but they claim it's wood-fired. The pizza was roughly Neopolitan in style, and it was terrific. I have no idea what this place's reputation is or if we just got lucky, but I'd go there in a heartbeat if it were in Austin. As is, it's more of a weekend drive destination, which is fine.
If I'm getting a Peace Prize, I definitely want it to be awarded by an organization with a history of racketeering, fraud and money laundering indictments.
I was a member of a touring music group based out of Chicago, and a bunch of my 'mates went to Loyola. Those Jesuits do not fuck around. Very bright kids.
My son, who is now a junior at UT, was going through the soccer recruiting dance in HS, but it was a weird time -- covid. He might have played lower level D1 but was mostly getting attention from high D2, and some of those programs just shut down ~ 2020 (cough St. Ed's cough). It was a super hard time to get a read on what opportunities would actually exist in a year or two.
He's glad he just went academics at UT instead of playing for a lesser school. The whole recruiting circus had my head spinning, for sure. Kudos to you both (and your kids) for getting through it.
That's not lost on me, but try reading things a bit yourself. You called people "mongoloids" for thinking 10-2 Miami might be ahead of 9-3 Texas. Care to address my fucking point?
Seems a little dramatic regarding road games. We outgained tOSU by 127 yards at their place and lost by 7. Nobody else got close to that margin against them this year. Did we play "great"? No, but that's a good team and we went toe to toe.
Your post launching this thread had nothing to do with arguing against doomsday predictions that we would crater. You specifically predicted that a 9-3 Texas team (meaning one more loss, presumably to UGA or A&M) would not keep us out of the playoffs. You even called people "mongoloids" for thinking a 10-2 Miami team might get in over a 9-3 Texas team.
Well, look where we are, and who is the likelier "mongoloid"?
If she had already been diagnosed with depression, and was being treated for it, let's not lose sight of the fact that for some young people certain antidepressants can amplify suicidal ideation. I'm not saying that's the case here, but it could contribute.
