Unless there was another blooper, you are misremembering. He was trying to unload an A400 Beretta. I distinctly remember because he was using one of the ugly ass blue (BLUE, not rust blued) receiver models, which are set up specifically for clay shooting. *Most of the ones you find on the shelves are 30/32" barrels, and they all have extended bolts and a flared/enlarged loading port. It's kind of the opposite of the guy who brings his camo SBE to the 5 stand.
And anyone who's handled semi-auto shotguns knows unloading them can be less than graceful. It was funny to Pubs because they were being force fed that he was the most masculine masculine to ever masculine, in the history of masculinity - a walking, taking set of bull balls. It was funny to me in that had he chosen a traditional upland arm, he likely wouldn't have fumbled it away. Also had to struggle with my thoughts on whether he really was a life long hunter who is white trash enough to bring a flashy clay gun to a stately upland hunt, or did one of his aides run down to the nearest beer bait and ammo and grab the coolest looking thing they saw? Hell there are ranches in S Texas that you wont get an invite back to showing up with that bullshit. A governor that's a lifelong hunter knows those types of things.
