  1. Sounded like he wanted to get away from that rifle for this exercise, or better yet start a legacy with another if you will. My first thought was having a good synthetic stock and some light smithing done to that wby.
  2. Look the bragging between you and @686 is getting to be a bit much on this page. 3 whole mins. Every time?
  3. Oh that definitely opens up the box... I left them off trying to stay within confines of OP budget but should have thrown them in when I mentioned a few other that blew it up. Really nice rifles. Homer drooling emoji
  4. Oh I bet that makes Denver Harris really happy.
  5. Gotcha. Yeah I’ve also read a bit about the recent issues with Bergara, but not too deep into it as I've never been who they’re selling to. Interested in some of the lower end Fierce stuff I’ve seen popping up. I’ve handled 3 of their higher end rifles and they were very nice but way out of stated budget. Don’t have any first hand with seekins but folks seem to love them. Aggy rifle, but supposedly Horizon does some nice work (out of this budget) but I’ve never handled one. OP, another thing for you to consider, that will add another wrinkle (sorry). A good spot and stalk/mountain gun looks different than a safari gun, which may not be same as a blind gun etc etc. People pay thousands to shed mere ounces on mountain rifles.
  6. Anything you can share why? I noticed they seemed to be stacked on the auction sites and seemed to have dropped a bit in price. Thought it may have been just a lesser model I was seeing but it’s more prevalent lately.
  7. Can't help you with the rifle, that's a personal thing. Personally, I'd have a custom 70 action built up and do what you can afford with the barrel and find a stock you like. Would probably tip you on the top end of your budget but you never know. But I'd suggest a 300win for your "all around" chambering. Going to be overkill on your hill country whitetail. You'll be glad you had it on your Nilgai, Elk, Moose etc. Highly adaptable and can feed it a hundred different ways. Sounds like you are about to have one hell of a hunting spree.
  8. Unfortunately, no.
  9. Not the reason we lost, but I will find it mildly funny if UW gets lightly fucked by shitty officiating next week. Just enough to make you wonder, like we have here.
  10. Camel lights until I found Copenhagen around 18. Been quit a little over a decade now and still have dreams about it sometimes, still miss it tremendously.
  11. Well, nothing like that where I’m sitting but have next years management 8 hanging around. Gorgeous south Texas morning with my youngest sitting shotgun. Exactly what I’m hunting.
  12. Pray tell, what was the sf and location (town) of this house your old man bought?
  13. Fucking right. Loads of dumbfuckery in that post. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put as much money and time behind a bunch of progressives as possible.
  14. Johnny’s is a treasure for all things outdoors.
  15. Pretty good stop, as long as you don’t get behind a train.
  16. 2.625 here and feels like I really fucked up not leveling up a few levels at the time. Oh, well. Maybe next time we get decades of free money I’ll remember that lesson.
  17. That looks nice.
  18. Nice water on the place.
  19. I had something similar happen to me once. A temporarily non-housed person tossed it in the floorboard of my truck and said, you keep this. Ehhh, ok. Narrator: it was not kept.
  20. As in not actually chained to a fence post, I’d largely agree.
  21. Except people with autism aren’t stupid. And being bad at math is just scratching the surface.
  22. I've never been in this particular type of boat scene, but it looks like a pretty awesome time.
  23. OBS Fords that are in really, really good shape or are redone are well into the 30's right now. And white is the best color for that truck/those years, not even debatable. Kid did good.
  24. Haven't been impressed with the lifespan on the backflips. Have 3 good friends with them and all of them are rotted out from sun damage. Fiberglass just blows thru in the corners eventually. We use the Rollnlocks at work and they seem to do OK. We don't keep the trucks as long but the guys driving them can fuck up an anvil so good enough for me. If you change trucks often or are always in a garage guess it wouldn't matter as much.
  25. Congrats Brew. I’m sure that is a tremendous feeling.
