  1. X maximized his money but he also fully buys in with the team. He's been getting banged up and still playing most games this year. Stewart would've shut it down the first time he rolled his ankle. In hindsight losing that Duncanville pipeline when Ja'Quinden Jackson transferred and we didn't hire Samples has turned out ok
  2. Personally, some of the skepticism towards Michigan comes from a general belief that on their best days, an elite offense will beat an elite defense. See the end of Michigan's season in 2018, 2019, and 2022. That can of course be overcome if the offense picks it up. And I get that you're saying that Michigan's offense is playing a certain style because they don't have to score a bunch, but for everyone else, we're wondering if they can score a bunch if/when the day comes that they need to (not including the big 10 soup). Michigan is remarkably consistent and I consider them the favorite to win it all, but I also like our matchup against them. Not to mention the questions that arise from all the sign-stealing stuff.
  3. I think he's like their JWhitt. Injury history, great blocker and effort guy, passed up as a receiver by younger guys.
  4. Huh, I didn't know that "maybe we beat them by __ points" was a reference. Just looked it up. TIL. Quinn Ewers against Bama 2x, OU 2x, UW in the bowl, and OSU in the CCG (6 games total): 151/211 (71.6%), 1939 yards (9.2 ypa), 13 TDs, 4 INTs, 165.3 rating
  5. I don't think any players can be legally "locked up." That's not how NIL works. Any contract would/should have a clause that terminates it when the player exits the program, whatever the reason be. It's not like an NFL contract that prevents them from moving.
  6. Maaan I'm just so glad we get to watch this team play more meaningful football
  7. About this time three years ago, shit looked bleak. Ewers flipped to OSU, Herman was a lame duck, we had whiffed on Meyer, etc. I switched my pfp to the crying jordan bevo and told myself it would stay until we won a conference championship. Well, boys, today's the day!
  8. Also, lots of 21 personnel on the first drive
  9. tbh he had such good positioning that it's disappointing Brooks played it so poorly once the ball was in the air but fuck it, 10% of the way to 70-0
  10. Top seed gets to choose. Sark said on Longhorn Weekly the captains voted for white because they think of iconic Texas moments and so many of them came in white. They want to join them.
  11. Maybe that person should have also been tasked with sitting down to talk to the key position coach that is apparently the single most important person in Plan 2024
  12. I disagree a bit about losing him. I think we'll need one of Blue or Wisner to be ready for a significant role next year. We're going to be losing our best motion men in Worthy, JWhitt, and KRob. That's a pretty key spot in Sark's offense. Niblett or a portal WR could factor in there, but we need someone that can threaten big plays in space catching the ball on sweeps, swing passes, orbit motion, etc. Plus the usual caveats about Gibson and Clark both being true freshmen and a lack of speed if we were to lose both Blue and Gibson.
  13. This feels like as appropriate a time as any to say that Blue's team photo is my favorite Do you really think you can convince me this is the fastest RB in CFB and not a 360lb nose tackle?
  14. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but the crazy thing about their 2024 title hopes is that their 2021 class has been absolutely decimated. This is all that remains: Shemar Turner Bryce Foster Reuben Fatheree Jardin Gilbert Deuce Harmon Trey Zuhn Amari Daniels Albert Regis Tyreek Chappell Dametrious Crownover Fernando Garza If Turner and Chappell go pro, that leaves them with like 2(?) positive contributors from the class? When's the last time a team won a national or SEC championship with such a poor group of seniors? Not to mention installing new systems on both sides of the ball and having to fix the culture rot.
  15. Bradley was good last year but his play this year may have been best encapsulated by getting beat by Malik Muhammad and Terrence Brooks for 50/50 balls
  16. Uh what, Pate has said positive things about us all year. That video is like the opposite of tears. It's a victory lap that he predicted us 11-1 facing OSU in the CCG. Anybody that has taken offense at anything Gundy has said this weak is soft. I'll excuse the players because you do what you can for motivation.
  17. Reminder that Sark put together one of the best offenses ever and won a national championship with Miller Forristall and Jahleel Billingsley as his TEs. They combined for 41 catches, 540 yards, and 4 TDs. Alabama averaged 48.5 points. Granted, that offense was loaded at every other position. But just wanted to provide some more context.
  18. So I just went back and watched all of Juan Davis's snaps against Tech. He at least knows what he's doing. He didn't blow any assignments, so that's good. But he blocks by just throwing his shoulder into guys. It's kind of weird. It makes sense if you're just sealing the backside against a larger defender, but not as an every down thing. He did have one good lead block to spring a Red run, but even then it looks like he led with his shoulder then engaged the defender. This was the only play I saw where he was just really slow and out of position. Anyways, as others have said, the complete TE is difficult to fine. Unicorns that have Sanders's receiving ability or Beck's kick return ability are hard to come by. I'm perfectly happy with Helm as TE1 the next two years. Davis will need to develop to be TE2 but I don't think we should be writing him off given that development seems to be a thing around here now. People had forgotten about Helm 6 months ago and said TE was a major portal need before the season.
  19. I get this, but also if Quinn comes back next year we'll be competing for the SEC + CFP. Winning always makes the reload easier. Plus most reloads don't happen all at once. Let's see how we reload the front 7 and WR while having Quinn to buoy us Hover over their profile photo and it pops up. Anybody that has fewer than three pages on their mute list needs to get those numbers up.
  20. They also changed it so that grad transfers are exempt from the portal windows https://www.ncaa.org/news/2022/9/21/media-center-di-council-modifies-transfer-rules-for-postgraduate-students.aspx
  21. My understanding is that pancake factory was a one year thing and funded by a single person or small group.
  22. Heh, this might be a jab that I'm katfid'ing, but they grew up Texas fans and they both have played. Plus Robertson is part of the Westlake contingent.
  23. For the December window: Goosby, Chatman, and Cojoe are true freshmen that will be in the two deep as RS FR with at least one but possibly both tackles departing in time for their third seasons. They also weren't five star types that schools will be aggressively poaching, so I'm not sure I see any of them leaving. Hutson and Robertson strike me as the type that like the university and will get their degrees before a hypothetical transfer (like Hudson Card). On top of the fact that both have legitimate paths to playing time. Agbo is a guy that was close to portaling out last year and I've already heard he might this year despite his role as the jumbo TE. PK and Neto are probably the other flight risks by my estimation because who really knows what's going on with them. That could all change in the spring window depending on how the depth chart goes, but I'm not too worried about the OL in December. I guess Majors would be another thing that could change the calculus for Hutson and Robertson.
  24. PK and the boys didn't let their offense advance the ball past midfield until the very last play of the game. The only snaps they took in our territory came after a long kick return.
