  1. Kind of interesting. "Mike Leach Doesn't Rule Out Return To Texas Tech" http://www.kcbd.com/story/36902488/mike-leach-doesnt-rule-out-return-to-texas-tech
  2. If KK gets fired, it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see him go to the NFL. Supposedly, there has been more than one overture along those lines already and he has plenty of contacts there. Hard to see him going back to the college ranks as your garden variety college OC after being a head coach and one sure can't envision another school of any stature hiring him as the head man given the bust he's been. As to who would be hired, if forced to, I'd bet on Neal Brown, but who knows? I personally am not nearly as put off by the prospect of Seth Littrell as some seem to be. And don't snicker and dismiss this automatically as I did upon first hearing it, but by far the most interesting possibility is Mike Leach. To be sure, I'm not saying it would happen, but some folk with some really deep pockets are on board with the idea. At the end of last season, informal contact was made and ML went beyond just not saying no in his response. Hance, his primary combatant, while informally not completely removed from the scene, is gone as chancellor as is most of the old regime. Just saying it's more possible than I ever would have imagined.
  3. You mean like these guys? https://www.everythinglubbock.com/news/local-news/former-tech-football-players-land-28-billion-oil-deal-now-two-of-the-richest-texans-under-40/663792612
  4. Nice get by Beard. As a Tech fan, glad to get him, but made one of the more annoying commitment videos to be sure. Fairly elaborate. http://kevinmccullar.com/
  5. Relax a little. It would be my view the folk here are not all that interested in the details of Whitaker's career nor the alphabet soup name changes. The question was, why wasn't the stadium named for Will Rogers. The name was changed to Jones SBC Stadium in 2000. Then in 2006 it was changed to Jones AT&T Stadium as a function of SBC purchasing AT&T. And as I mentioned, Whitacre is indeed the former CEO of AT&T (formerly SBC).
  6. Perhaps I'm misreading entirely the TT fan base, but I get the sense there's very little enthusiasm for a Sonny Dykes hire. I know that's certainly the case for me. My guess would be he's not going to be the guy.
  7. That's kind of where I am as well. Seemingly interested in Tech, visited and he said it went well, included them in his top 10 and very little communication since. Appears to me to be a pretty good looking RB.
  8. Not to worry, perhaps my fault. Agree with your sentiment. Felton's 520 career yards likely didn't compel the suitors to come running. You gotta think though, Stringer had some options. Tech officials wouldn't comment.
  9. Yeah, the Saddletramps are a spirit organization along the lines of the Silver Spurs. Not sure how many Silver Spurs there are, but seems like Saddletramps may be a larger group. Have to do a pledgeship and that sort of thing. They're the ones who wrap the statue. If a non-member showed up to help I doubt if there would be fist fight, but it's known as their thing. Stadium isn't named for Will Rogers as way back in the day when it was built (1947), it was named for donors Clifford B. and Audrey Jones. Then in 2000, active TTU alum Ed Whitacre (now former AT&T and General Motors CEO) under the auspices of AT&T, donated 50 million dollars to supplement stadium updates. It has now officially become Jones AT&T Stadium.
  10. Rivals shows Felton as having only one other offer, that being UH. It shows Stringer on the other hand to have 18 offers including Wisconsin, Cal, Oklahoma State, Ariz, Indiana, Illinois, etc.
  11. Stringer is actually a pretty good player. Felton not so much.
  12. And we all know the behavior of a few random individuals within a university of 35000 Is proof positive of just how solid it may or may not be.
  13. New pitcher in for TT. He'll be bumping 97 mph with his fastball. Major control issues some days though.
  14. My favorite part of Lobo's diatribe is his use of the term "proper college". Sounds like something that came directly from a puritanical, old maid society matron as she reminisces about her long gone younger days.
  15. For better or worse, as of this afternoon TT now has10 commitments. Got a commitment from a Temple DB (Markel Reed) who shows offers from Ark, Baylor, Vandy, Purdue, Kansas State and Boise. Far from earth shattering but decent. As you suggest, the "have not" group you allude to largely have a decent number of offers, but not major ones. A few UH and Utah types in the group or worse. What would be a nice one for Tech still supposedly very much imminent.
  16. TT also got TE Simon Gonzalez out of Magnolia. 22 offers but best ones Ariz, Ariz St., Boise, and Virginia Tech.
  17. Tech gets a commitment from massive OL Trevor Roberson. Had 19 offers including offers from Norte Dame, USC, Ark., Nebraska , A&M, TCU, etc. According, to Rivals, Georgia as well, but who knows? He's listed at 6-11 and 345 lbs. https://247sports.com/college/texas-tech/Article/7-foot-OT-Trevor-Roberson-Commits-to-Texas-Tech-Football-119059915/
  18. Tech about to get another fairly highly recruited kid. Likely announced later today or tomorrow.
  19. Up until this year played QB at a private high school in Midland. Very athletic, but you have to wonder about the level of competition as far as playing QB is concerned. Not suggesting he's headed to Tech, but he really focused on its proximity to home in a recent interview. Who knows, could have just been lip service tho. That said, with him being a Midlander until recently, it's a lot more of a Tech town than is Odessa.
  20. What are you hearing about Permian's Peyton Powell? He's visited and shown a fair amount of interest in Tech and I noticed TCU offered him today. Seems somewhat under the radar but has some really good offers.
  21. Maverick McIvor to make visit number three to Tech this week end to meet with Kingsbury. Given KK's recruiting ability, he'll likely commit somewhere else before week's end.
