  1. Tenn Tech had 8 players taken in the draft.
  2. Through the first 30 rounds of the MLB draft, Texas Tech leads the country in players drafted with 11. If only It was possible to recruit to Lubbock.
  3. You could possibly see Littrell, but hard to envision Cumbie as the new coach. Just not much support for him at this point. It will be interesting this year to see the impact, if any, new OC Kevin Johns has. After fairly lengthy stays at Northwestern and Indiana, he's the first legitimate OC type in the Kingbury era. Big 10 guy obviously, but given his history doesn't appear to be the reincarnation of Woody Hayes from an offensive standpoint.
  4. Maverick McIvor visiting TTU for visit number two Thursday.
  5. I've got to agree. I have to feel like there's a chance Tadlock might end up with egg on his face regarding the national seed. Don't think it ultimately will matter though. I don't really look for Tech to make it out of their regional to be honest.
  6. Oklahoma columnist says only KU, OU, Baylor and TCU were trying to win. https://newsok.com/article/5595788/coaches-arent-prioritizing-big-12-tournament
  7. If he had something to play for Tadlock is the world's biggest dumb ass. The pitcher he started in game one was a rare starter with an era over 8. The 2nd game starter was primarily a reliever this season. Didn't start any of his 3 main starters until game 3, not even starting his best one. Not sure what his thought process was.
  8. Can't speak for Baylor, but Tech felt a yearly presence in DFW would be of value in a variety of fashions not the least of which would be recruiting.
  9. I think what's somewhat frustrating to Tech fans reading this is this is all very old news that is being made to sound as if it's some catastrophic blow. Nisby didn't even go thru all of spring practice. Felton announced his transfer weeks ago. Regarding Lane, that 5th best player thing, must have been written by the same DMN guy whose article was so ill informed regarding their depth chart the paper had to issue an apology to Tech for its content. Lane has been in the doghouse and not counted on for a good while now. The above blurb regarding Tech's running back depth, was totally remiss in never mentioning DeLeon Ward is returning this season after sitting out a year and will be the likely starter. He and King form a better than decent RB duo. Regarding incoming freshmen, while I realize they can never be counted on as a certainty, I also realize there are flaws and their pre college rankings are hardly etched in stone.
  10. While I'm certainly pleased you're entertained, my view has nothing to do with unrealistically high expectations for Henry, but rather issues, of which you're apparently unaware, with Nisby. Hardly a minority opinion on my part I might add. Serious issues with Nisby are are widely known among those who follow the TT program.
  11. Kliff may have a number of problems but Desmond Nisby and Demarcus Felton (the other RB who left) transferring isn't one of them. Both are seniors and neither one would have seen any playing time this upcoming season. Wasn't even clear whether Nisby would have been eligible. Both were behind DeLeon Ward and Tre King on the depth chart and almost certainly TaZhawn Henry and even potentially SaRodorick Thompson when they get to campus.
  12. That wouldn't surprise me either. His offer list is fairly decent already. My hope is that he didn't get his feelers hurt by the delayed Tech offer given Jacob Zeno is clearly their preference.
  13. Yeah, I saw that. He won the state 6A 100 meter title as a junior though running a 10.32, so he can legitimately motor.
  14. TTU commit, Kesean Carter, out of the Woodlands ran a 10.22 as well. Mucho speed in the state this year.
  15. Regarding McIvor, I believe his mom is a TT grad. My understanding is that his parents are divorced and he lives with his mom. One would think that and living in San Angelo would bode well for Tech. There's that cumbersome little head coaching issue though.
  16. As a Tech fan who follows the program pretty closely, candor requires me to reply that no, KK is not a good recruiter overall. There were expectations upon his hiring that his age as well as overall happening guy reputation would serve him well on the recruiting trail. Hasn't been the case at all. That said, we're talking about a QB here and that's the one area he's been relatively effective. Mahomes, Davis Webb (3rd rounder), Baker Mayfield, and Manziel are all guys he's had a hand in recruiting and developing. Even last season's weak sister Nic Shimonek signed a free agent deal. In addition, Jacob Zeno has been listed as a Tech lean by even non TTU sites. My guess is that is not going to happen as Ga. is really recruiting him hard and he seems to keep extending his decision date. Visited TT multiple times though. Again, KK's job security is a concern.
  17. He has been friendly with the TT program for a while now. I think most any other year he'd be a slam dunk for the Raiders. That said, one TTU pay site has already reported that mom has already been asking about who will be the TT head coach year. Clearly it's an issue for them as well as anyone else they're recruiting.
  18. That Tommy Penders, what with the above information and releasing Axtell's grades and all, always willing to be helpful and pass along necessary information. Well, except that time at George Washington when he got fired for not telling his AD about one of his players who was charged with forcing a woman to perform oral sex and then violating her with a broom handle. He's a crowd pleaser, that Tom is.
  19. DeLeon Ward, after sitting out last year, is the likely starter. Better than decent RB. Tre King not too bad either. Agree, TTU RB depth not all that bad.
  20. True enough. Has been a bust to this point for sure. They have him at LB now, but I'm not holding my breath. As I recall just off the top of my head Will Farrar and Madison Akamnonu are shown with UT offers too. Don't recall about Jack Anderson or maybe TJ Vasher. It doesn't really matter enough to take the time to look. Again, I fully acknowledge UT wins the vast majority of those battles.
  21. Meant to say Zhaire Smith. (uh, never post and talk on the phone at the same time)
  22. Well I'll sure grant you UT gets the best of it far more times than not in head to heads. The reverse does happen on occasion though.
  23. Watson may very well attend UT. I don't pretend to know. It's just kind of interesting that your list above very closely fits two transfers who have already committed to Tech. That would be Rice DT, Preston Gordon, and Oregon State WR and California native, Seth Collins. The similarity of much of their and Watson's background sort of flies in the face of your argument.
  24. Posts like this always amaze me. Fully appreciate Lubbock might not be your personal cup of tea. As for myself, having spent plenty of time in the Bay Area, I don't think someone could pay me enough to live there. Pretty clearly, such opinions are just very subjective it seems to me. While TTU as a program has had its struggles of late, it's pretty clear KK has put out some pretty successful offenses during his tenure. Additionally, the former OL line coach at Cal is at Tech now and Watson has a very good relationship with him. Likewise, Watson friend and former TTU qb, Davis Webb, who transferred to Cal his senior year, has been in his ear selling him on the advantages of Tech and playing in that offense. Have no idea what will happen. He was quoted as saying his Tech visit was the best visit he'd ever been on. No doubt his UT visit drew a rave review too. I suppose we'll find out soon enough.
