  2. Awesome buck!
  3. Loaded protein yesterday. Lots of turkeys strutting still. Lots of fawns on the ground.
  4. Years ago, after I observed some fresh scratches on her car bumper, the right side of my brain thought "Where is she parking where other people are constantly bumping her car?" Then the left side of my brain responded with this:
  5. I always go lightly used 2-3 years old cars for the wife, because since she's going to scratch/ding it constantly and thrash the interior, I might as well start off by letting someone else take about $10K of depreciation.

See, I go the other way here. If somebody is taking their half out of the middle, I pull down to where they know I'm waiting for them to GTFO, and then I just sit there with my truck idling (kinda loud diesel) as to hopefully add to their stress level/shame a little. Usually it does, as I can detect a quickened pace and more tense communications among their crew. You can almost hear the Yakety Sax...

This is definitely my preferred method. And reverse it for launching; everything and everybody but me in the boat, plug in, switches on, ready to start before we back onto the ramp. I back the boat down the ramp, unstrap, wife backs boat off trailer and waits for me away from the courtesy dock, pulls up when I'm back from parking the truck. On and off the boat ramp in 2 mins or less. If the trailer parking area is empty and I know she won't have a problem pulling into an easy spot with the truck/trailer, sometimes she parks the truck and I use the time idling the boat to fill ballast bags. I can't stand folks that back their boat onto the ramp (especially during busy times) and then have a 5 minute fire drill loading ice chests, boards, bags, etc. onto the boat. We saw some folks doing that shit in a late model Wakesetter last weekend, which solicited a nice eyeroll and commentary from my wife. Now that I think about it, my wife talking shit about other folk's boating techniques is kind of a turn-on. So maybe I like folks clowning around on the boat ramp? Deep thoughts...
  8. 375 WBY Reloading update: Shot my 86.5 gr loads today, and the velocity was a little better than I expected, about 2850 FPS. My standard deviation was about 11, so not great, but I can live with it. Here’s the data: Worked on dialing in the scope, and took some shots at 200 and 300 yards, but the ballistic turret application calculated values over-compensated for the drop and my shots were a little high, so will need to figure that out empirically. Conversely, maybe I just wasn’t shooting straight. To be honest, I don’t like shooting from a lead sled, next time I go out I’m putting a bipod on and getting prone and seeing if things get better. Also of note: had a gusty 90 degree crosswind of 10+ mph and it didn’t affect the POI much at all at 300 yards. I think the load will work, I just need to work on shooting skills more at this point.

I, for one, take comfort in the fact that SB is out there taken ‘er easy for all us sinners. See y’all on the water
  10. IS IT MULEDICK? /in before Phlegm
  11. Friday night reloading recap; say hello to my lil friends: That’s about 50,000 ft-lbs of potential energy. Kinda wild. Discretion being the better part of valor, I dialed back to an 86.5 grain load for this batch, which should give me about 2840 FPS MV. My rifle has liked that velocity with other ammo, so just need to get some time to shoot some groups.

Looks like a great first day! Beautiful boat! Lots of space too - is it a 23'?

  14. Fast, but can't carry a tune?
  15. The dude running to the car leaving the lady holding the kid on her own is fucking shameful. Dude needs to look in the mirror and evaluate his priorities.

Beautiful! How many hours does it have on it?

Is it a recessed area or flush with the top of the boat?

I don’t know much about aluminum boats, but have you got a pic of the offending area?
  19. I think the CEO is the son of Dick (founder). I don't know how much stock the family owns, but it may effectively be "his" company to run into the ground, which, yes, he is doing. Somewhat related: Chick-fil-A is by my estimates shaving close to a billion in revenue by not opening on Sundays. The patrons would be lined up out the door at that place at 12:30 on Sundays. We should have a "Stupid Business Decisions and Idiot CEOs" thread.

Has Tooned Out hit the water yet?

Hey Troph I know you said you weren't much on trailering; make sure the dealer's guys take the wheels off your new boat tomorrow before you go hauling up the lake

Did Cajunhorn make it over to Surly from the old board? He bought a new-to-him boat about a year ago, I wonder how things are going.
  23. No reference has published 375 H&H data for the newer slow burning powders that I wanted to try (Superformance, Reloader 26). Regarding both Superformance and Reloader 26, Hodgdon and Alliant only have 12 chamberings of published loads for each. This doesn't really make sense if you're a powder maker trying to get more information out there to help folks select powder. I think its probably for several business reasons: Corporate attorneys want to limit published data to limit liability. There is seemingly a lot more profit margin in Magnum ammunition than small stuff, so it wouldn't surprize me at all if the major ammo manufacturers in the Magnum market contract with their powder suppliers to not publish load data for the powders/chamberings they are making. Specifically, I read somewhere that Hornady had an agreement with Hodgdon to limit published load data of Superformance. Hornady sells "Superformance" 375 H&H Ammo, so I imagine Hornady doesn't want their recipe published. (Reloading the exact Hornady Superformance 375 H&H load would cost you around $35/box, versus buying their ammo @ $70 per box)
  24. The 90 grain load looks like it flattened the primer a little, but no cratering around any of the firing pin indentations
  25. Yeah, but if a 150 grain bullet at 2900 FPS is good, then a 270 grain bullet at 2900 FPS is good-er. All shots were Barnes LRX 270 grain.
