Would love for Jeff Banks to leave. Fuck that dude. Can't stand our return team taking it out of the end zone for a holding penalty (instead of a free 25 yard line) and our punt return team going for idiotic block attempts instead of letting the best returner in CFB return the kick. The guy is an an idiot.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - Full Roster Weaponization

Yea I always wondered about this. There was a kind of revisionist history that he had a great freshman year but really as a runner he was not particularly impressive and a huge downgrade from J Brooks. It was impressive that he was so good in pass protection as a true frosh and he did have good hands out of the backfield, but I never saw evidence of him being a star RB. Not portaling before this season was a strange choice. -

what makes you say that? Wisner is one dimensional (only outside zone) but he is a good player who dominates against certain teams when the OZ is clicking. Definitely would not want to lose him. Definitely need an RB or two who can actually break a tackle, though. -
Holy shit you dipshits: 9-3 Texas is probably in the playoffs

Fanduel odds moved from +2500 to +1800... I still think we can make it for the sake of preserving quality OOC. It's going to be terrible for the sport if there is zero serious conference mixing in the regular season. ND needs to be OUT. The wins are just too light. And it's bizarre that we are ranked behind OU as well. -

Honestly the path of least resistance for the committee is leaving both ND and Miami out. ND simply doesn't have enough wins of consequence. Weak schedule where they lost their two hardest games. Nice looking team in terms of margin of victory but not enough results on the field. Miami was fantastic in the OOC but missing the CCG in a very weak ACC knocks them out. Then the wildcard is BYU who can potentially take a spot if they beat Tech. Leaving us out will be an incredible fuck you to interesting OOC games. The networks are going to absolutely hate that outcome. -

Sark got the wrong takeaways from Ohio State winning an NC via "retention". They spent money bringing back players who could have been NFL draft picks. We spent money bringing back players that haven't done jack on a college football field. -
a Disservice to our sport - let's up the ante - decline the bowl game

I don't know about the bowl game but we should absolutely cancel all serious OOC games immediately. -

DKR is widely variable based on which section you are sitting in. Some parts feel fairly modern other parts feel ancient. -
No RB in the portal was very curious to me given Baxter was coming off a serious surgery. On the OL, everyone just assumed the experienced program guys would be good. Banks is one thing but nobody expected to get serious drop offs from losing Cam Williams, Hayden Connor, and Jake Majors...
-
I'm just a chump doing about $100/month to Texas one. I turned that shit off for football and won't turn it back on until we have a more professional operation on the moneyball / budget allocation front. Sark half assing the GM role while half assing the HC and OC roles as well doesn't do it for me.
-
I made a big post on OTF about this. He is doing three full time jobs and sucking at all of them. GM, HC, and OC. The obvious path to fix things is to delegate more and hire someone to run the offense and do personnel. But by all indications Sark will never do this.
-
I honestly think he is just a bad offensive coordinator at this point. A good coordinator has to put in the work grinding film and he is probably not doing it. It's foolish of him to think he can be an elite OC while also owning the other aspects of being HC. Especially if there is in fact additional personal life shit taking place.
-
Thanks! it's mixed reviews over there 😂. I think in general it's interesting that the coaches who complain about college coaching being too difficult are the ones struggling right now. See Lincoln Riley for another good example. College coaches having to deal with more shit in this era means they must delegate more responsibility. Otherwise you are going to burn out and fall apart like Sark seems to be.
-
I think he is wearing too many hats and possibly has some personal life shit going on, but regardless lacks the time and energy to properly do his job as OC. Or properly do any of his jobs for that matter. Needs to hire a goddamn OC and focus on being the head coach.
-
I agree with everything you say here. On top of that, the game is evolving every year. A dedicated OC spends the off-season grinding film of other teams to figure out what the latest and greatest tricks are to add to his bag. Sark has a lot of other shit going on, and as a result his offense is completely stuck in amber, getting worse every year. (I honestly think 2021 was Sark's best year as OC at Texas, we just had crap personnel outside of RB).
-
Supposedly his family does not like the Seattle gloom and they moved back to Arizona.
-
Honestly I think OU is the scariest team on our schedule. It's not that they are a great team by any means, but we know Venerables is maybe the best there is at confusing a young QB (his only coaching competency really). Then offensively, while they mostly suck, Mateer when fully unleashed as a runner will be a problem and will be hard to hold out of the end zone all day, especially with a few short fields. He reminds me of Sam Ehlinger a bit. So with those two factors together I can see it being a really tough low scoring game if Arch does not improve quickly.
-
I crunched the numbers and I get this: Alabama - Auburn, LSU, Tennessee Arkansas - Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas Auburn - Alabama, Georgia, Vanderbilt Florida - Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee Georgia - Auburn, Florida, South Carolina Kentucky - Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina LSU - Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas A&M Mississippi State - Kentucky, Ole Miss, Texas A&M Missouri - Arkansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma Oklahoma - Arkansas, Missouri, Texas Ole Miss - LSU, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt South Carolina - Florida, Georgia, Kentucky Tennessee - Alabama, Florida, Vanderbilt Texas - Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M Texas A&M - LSU, Mississippi State, Texas Vanderbilt - Auburn, Ole Miss, Tennessee Kentucky is the one that ends up the most random. It's hard to solve because their actual biggest rivals are all in high demand. Vandy also gets some random ones outside of the in state game with Tenn. That's the consequence of decades of sucking. Looks pretty good otherwise, though.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
whereiend replied to texifornia's topic in 🤫$9.95🤫
I think the AD is already to a significant extent (more than $20M/yr, at least) funded by booster donations, is it not? So there may not be a marginal difference between "AD kicking in money along with boosters" vs. "boosters 100% responsible for paying the players". What the AD can do is pursue cost cutting and/or additional revenue streams to allow for more allocation towards football. I could imagine a scenario where the overly bloated useless bureaucracy that is Texas Athletics is a bit of a competitive disadvantage compared to a more lean AD that allocate a higher share of total revenue to players. -
My 3 year old daughter currently ranks Gorillas as the #1 threat. I clear the room for them every night

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet
whereiend replied to Coach pop a bitch's topic in Football
Are you the same Burnt Eyes from the CFN forums back in the day?? (2000-2004 or so). Those were good times. Quinn is an interesting character in Longhorn football history. The only guy that really compare for me is Chris Simms. He has some homer fanboys that I assume are Southlake people, or maybe they just bought too much into the recruiting hype. These are the types that even today claim he has "generational arm talent" and that sort of thing. Then he also some very overzealous haters who act like he is Case McCoy out there. I think Arch is a big factor here as many have wanted to watch him play instead. There is respect for Quinn being the guy that led us back in to the top 5 but also criticism for often being the weak link of the top 5 teams. There are some moments of true brilliance (e.g. Bama games) but also some absolute disasters like Oklahoma State and Georgia Then there is the injury component that makes him unreliable but also left a faint hope that maybe he could put it together when finally healthy. -

Sam with this roster talent would have been insane. He had 26 TDs to 5 INTs throwing to Josh Moore and Brennan Eagles. You think we are failing to score on the 1 yard line with Sam back there?? Quinn had insane rosters to work with. 30 draft picks over 3 years. And yet he never really put up great numbers or led super efficient offenses. The guy is a pretty good college QB but he probably ends up as a "failure" who transfers out if he played for Herman. -

Quinn is the guy that got us back to being a top 5 program so I appreciate him and will root for him in the NFL, but on no planet was he a better college QB than Sam Ehlinger. IMO we win the NC the last two years if we had Sam. Quinn vs Chris Simms is a better debate and I probably go with Quinn there given the Bama games. -
Lol the Texas AD does not give two shits about fans that have dealt with the ups and downs. Incredibly greedy organization over the years.
-
There was a great pocket on this play as well. Absolutely no reason for Quinn to try to tuck and run.
