  1. After giving this some thought I absolutely would've rather ended the season with Mou. The ride was fun with Ole as caretaker, especially the night in Paris, but the hope I had at the beginning of March and the feeling of despair I have now weren't worth it. It was fun to see the side play with belief and freedom again, but it also shows how little pride some players have in United and how far we've fallen in talent. I hope the latter is a boost to make a large change in club structure and the squad, but I doubt the Glazers have balls to do the right thing. It would be a much better start to the transfer market with a new manager and vision. I think having Ole at the helm during the worst run in club history will give a lot of guys pause who might have otherwise come play for a Pochettino or someone new. I don't know how good of a recruiter of talent Ole is, but he's going to have to hard sell some folks on a vision instead of results. Toughest spot United have been in since I started following twenty years ago. The next two years will shape the next decade. We won't ever be a Leeds, but we certainly could become a joke.
  2. Pretty sure frankie already is signed to head to barca Thanks. That sucks, but good for them. I haven't been paying attention to transfers at all.
  3. No way Mou should've stayed. His idea was to spend a lot to get older and play defense, plus he'd lost the dressing room. It is not a sustainable model. There's a reason he never lasts anywhere. Woodward must go. Ole better bring some help on the bench. He ran out of ideas, but also squad isn't great. Off the top of my head must leaves are simple. Alexis, Lukaku, Smalling, Jones, Bailly, Lingard, Fred. All were remarkably worthless this year. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Pogba gone, but I don't know how you replace him, plus he's too big of a money maker for the team and Woodward loves kit sales. Central defense is a must as well as striker. Pogba needs a partner, I'd kill for Konte, but that ain't happening. I am will to take a year and bring up some of the young guys from U23s/Reserves. This is a full on rebuild job and it must be done with youth. The only goal next year is a good run in the league and a top four. I haven't looked around enough to come with a signing list yet. The problem is no Champions League next year. It's going to take a very special big name guy who wants to play for United to sign instant impact guys. I'd kill for Frenkie de Jong and Matt de Ligt from Ajax I really like Declan Rice Veran from Madrid Bale is going to need a home, that would be fun, but very expensive. Those five guys wold be a hell of a start. I'll start looking around, but truly I've been sent to a DGAF place right now with this season. I don't think I've ever been this frustrated as I was in the last month and a half.
  4. Here to eat crow. Well done, you saw your boys bounce back in mediocre fashion, but it was more enough. Hazard is the truth and I love watching him play. Half of United should be taken out back and shot for prides sake. Incredible meltdown with abysmal fucking effort. I haven't posted in a while on this because making an effort to be frustrated over a team that doesn't care is tough to take. I guess I don't have to worry about missing work next year on Tues/Weds. Yay Glazers & Woodward! Enjoy Champions league. You were right.
  5. Wrong. Accuracy and details are meaningless to a man with no side. He only sees both sides for what they truly are. “There is only one god and his name is Both, and there is only one thing we say to Both, Not today”
  6. Every driver that has something hanging from their rearview mirror is a shitty driver and should have there license revoked. Handicap IDs, beads, leis, trinkets (religious or otherwise), initials, air fresheners, etc. The only exceptions to the rule are parking passes. Next time someone cuts you off, drives slow in the left lane, doesn't turn right on red, or doesn't turn their lights on during a storm, 9 times out of 10 they'll have something hanging from the rearview. True fact.
  7. I want to bump this page and throw some gratitude out in the world. Thank you ladies and gentlemen for being around and willing to share on this board. It has given me great strength at times, much to meditate on when I've needed it, and an outlet to vent when I get sketchy. The world is a crazy fuckin place, but the peace that comes from alcoholics sharing their stories and reaching out their hand to help those still suffering, is like nothing I knew in the throws of my disease. I wish I never had to experience the hopelessness I endured to qualify for this conversation, but damn if I don't realize how lucky I am to be a part of it. The noise, chaos, fear, anxiety, and depression of the world of which I inhabited for many years has been replaced by a soft and gentle existence, so long as I choose to enter it each morning. Thank you for showing me how to get there and reminding me of where I once toiled. Much love, I'm truly grateful today. If you are hurting, you never have to feel like that again. There is hope.
  8. Just posting to see if there can be an entire page with no pics on a post a pic thread.
  9. This time it wasn't a US org pulling this shit off, it was a foreign adversary and that shit is scary. Our easily already corruptible system from within is wide open for, as Mulvaney told us the other day, not so ethical people to do whatever they please. All it takes is an extra layer of deniability and you're golden.
  10. I think this part is key to the Barr statement. Sure Darpaskev (sp) ins't technically part of the Russian government, but the government is actually the oligarchs/mob. The hacking was done by the gov't, but the strategy most likely was done by an outside source. There are many other examples of this. Example. The GOP doesn't make the messaging for guns, the NRA takes the lead and the GOP goes along while not having to spend the money/hit pieces etc. Kind of like the Swift Boat stuff, tea party astroturf. The difference in all of those orgs in the US is that they know how to affectively coordinate without technically saying "I'm running this message and targeting this voting block." It's how 501c4's operate. Coordination and cooperation without technically doing so. It's hard as fuck to ever prove without direct emails even though everyone knows there are backroom conversations. It makes the case very hard for federal prosecutors and why guys like Stone/Manfort and contacts/"Russian Lawyers" etc are necessary to pull it off without getting caught. The burden of proof is so high, it's almost impossible to convict, even though all the evidence is out in the open. It's not that hard to see it, unless you don't want to believe that shit doesn't go on everyday in this country already.
  11. I'm sure they're also keeping jersey sales in mind when they don't go too hard on an American player. Lot of American youngsters without a club just waiting to find their hero's team to root for. I'm old and see it different I guess. The club grew you in most cases, and your heart goes to them. It is an absolute honor though to play for your country. I'm also frustrated with the federation and their lack of eagerness to bend over for the better Euro players. It was brought to my attention that Berhalter is doing everything he can to help the foreign based guys. Well done, I hope he keeps it up. They're the future.
  12. Fair, especially in South America/US. I'm also not trying to belittle our guys as I love that they come home to play. They have a pride in country like few other nations and I am grateful for that. I watch the friendlies when I can, but I'm not taking off work for a WC qualifier, but I sure as shit am for a CL quarter final. You can change your job, wife, and even country, but you can't change your club.
  13. It's only subjective to US really. You can't be great having the USMNT be your top priority in soccer. Like I said, the World Cup is fun and I love our squad because we're the perpetual "mid major" going after the big guys, but greatness will come to US soccer when we have a squad of foreign playing badasses. That happens in the CL and Europe, not friendlies or summer camps. Schalke has a right to be very pissed. This is also a major problem. Our federation sucks.
  14. WTF? I get that injuries happen, but the club is always more important than country. The World Cup is fun and all, but no player should risk his career over it. I'm not saying that is the case in this or every situation, at least Ronaldo was injured in a qualifier, but for Schalke not to be pissed off is silly. Only people that give a shit are Americans and they're not really important when it comes to a the clubs fans or how a Bundesliga club does business.
  15. When you can't stop anyone, might as well go for turnovers. OU has had a negative turnover average the last two seasons and that's without throwing a ton of Int's. Worst defense of any top team over the last several years, pathetic really.
  16. 10 years ago it was Gods, Guns, and Gays It's still Gods, Guns, and Gays (insert new scary person). Tried, tested, and Mother (Pence) approved. I sometimes wish I was a real American who thrives on fast food, canned laughter, and outrage.
  17. God I hope you're right and if they were able to get the proper surveillance you will be. I just know on a smaller level that smart pols in leadership only have those conversations over dinner and whatnot. No phones, no email. The one thing that gives me hope to this day is how the fuck did that conversation with Paul Ryan and House leadership get out? What a bazaar thing to have recorded and leaked. If there are more of those conversations recorded it could be a lot of fun. The other is that McConnell and Co. have been insulated in power so long that they got lazy and didn't realize the threat of Trump's ragtag dumbass criminal enterprise being so damn sloppy. Who would've thought Trump could've gotten away with shit for so many years with the mental all stars in his orbit of stupidity.
  18. It should be the elected leadership because they're the ones who actually control how the money is spent and raised, but that won't happen. There are bundlers (Cohen, Wynn, Romney types) who serve as legal buffers for the electeds, and they control access to lawmakers on a certain level. I'd imagine we may get lucky and bring down the RNC apparatus, but it will be difficult to pin it on any lawmakers outside of leadership. That could change if there is evidence they knew of the dirty money and personally directed it's spending. Lets hope there are emails.
  19. Old man was talking about his second young wife was letting it flow. He wasn't the least bit bothered with anything or anyone. The four tables around went silent for 90 seconds after the Dachau reference. One of those moments where everyone is eavesdropping not because they want to, but he was loud as fuck and strangers were waiting for the bomb to drop. It indeed dropped.
  20. Table next to me on the patio yesterday. "So apparently my daughter is going to be on a fundraising calendar for the Children's Miracle network. She's such a pretty girl but her eating disorder almost killed her when she was little. She's still skinny, but not Dachau skinny. The free NFL and NBA tickets are kinda awesome too. "
  21. Kind of clearer, but I don't totally follow. Anyway thank you for taking the time. I get the sealed indictment stuff and there is plenty of reason to believe that Trump is already named in one, but I think you answered my question. The only person who could have the balls to indict Trump, even though he's a totally by the book guy, is Mueller. Basically he's the only hope of the President being indicted while still in office yet he will most likely follow procedure. I was more curious about RICO (and being named) if, due to Trump not being indicted individually, but part of a group, it is that possible while being a sitting President. I follow it for the most part. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
  22. But could he file RICO charges against the whole campaign as a criminal org and include Trump? Could the SDNY? Because Trump was not individually indicted, but collectively does that fall under those DOJ guidelines?
  23. Except for the fact the Copa America has 3 countries with multiple WC's and finals appearances, 5 teams in the top 20 of the Fifa rankings (yes, I know they're dumb, but they still give a general sense of a teams strength), and a history of enjoyable competitions. A pan-American tourney would be pretty sweet, especially if we could do it Euro Championship style qualifying for two years leading up to the competition. I could see that doing more for our squad development than worthless friendlies or a worthless GC against weak competition.
  24. I've been sick for almost a week, and thank God I was because I was able to watch one of the most incredible moments in United history. I still am able to put into words what I witnessed yesterday. Ole having the balls to mix it up with the kids, Lukaku as Johnny on the spot, 3 teenagers on the pitch to close it out, Eric Bailly graciously exiting "injured" so we could switch to a back 4, heroic team effort, Dalot opening things up and defending well coming on, Fred/McTominay/Pereira/ defending their balls in the middle, 10 of the regular squad out injured/suspended, and Rashford bashing in the penalty after making some head scratching lapses of concentration in the first half. It was fucking beautiful and the turning point for the club. The dark days are gone. I never once believed it was over yesterday and thats the way it is supposed to be with United. It has been way too long since I've felt that way. Happy days boys.
