  1. It won't be completely dead until you hear Spiderwebs. That was the stake in KGSR's heart.
  2. Really good interview with Larry King, at the beginning of which she talks about why she left the US. Would have been about 57 when this aired. What a gorgeous woman, amongst many things.
  3. Here. Appetites for pea soup were never the same.
  4. Everything in this movie weirded me out, Tina included. But she played it well.
  5. First day of something called SXSW. People and mainstream media from populous places on both coasts got wind of a little festival in Austin, located it on a map, found a hotel, or motel and, four days later left, collectively saying "Wow. Music. Hills. Lakes. Liberal and weird people (yeah, it was still weird then). Nice weather. Food. And more music. In Texas, no less. " Word got out. People ultimately got wind of things, started coming in droves, for the festival, to visit otherwise, and more. Many, many came back to stay, and then to build homes and businesses and bring existing businesses with them from a long ways away. There was no looking back. I'm not revealing anything new. 3-1/2 decades ago, SXSW was the turning point from when Austin went from a (still relatively) sleepy town to, as of today, the 10th largest city in the country along with being of the most talent-laden and biggest business hubs in the US. Along with that "old Austin", or whatever you want to call it, died.
  6. Harlan going "machete" and "lickety split" in the same sequence. Never question why he is the best in the business.
  7. Oh, it can't be with James...
  8. March 12, 1987. May be off a day or two. That was the beginning of it.
  9. Sound basic but anything but that. Little twinge of sweetness in 'em. Goodness.
  10. Harlan is do damned good. He and Cooperstein are the only pxp guys I've ever heard who can make each possession seem like the game is hinging on it.
  11. Fucking butterfly pansies. That's a 15-second review for a common foul. Fuck you Javie.
  12. The ushers in that wasteland of bleachers occasionally seemed just as drunk as some of the fans. There was no enforcement on some of the signs, gestures and obscenities directed at Ricky. But he didn't get pissed, he just turned up his game to another level and gave just as well as he took. Never seen an athlete, an elite one, like him in that respect. But playing outfield, pre-pitch clock, and you've got tons of time to waste. He wasn't going to waste it. He embraced and made good use of it in his own special way.
  13. The bleachers in that thing should have had their own lost and found section. But three candy bar labels would get you a freebie and when RIcky Henderson / his chatter were in town there was nothing better than a first row GA seat. He never failed to entertain, at bat, on the bases but more so when in the outfield between pitches.
  14. That was a tough interview with Nadel. One of the best that game has ever seen. Three decades doing pxp for the team along with another 15 or so years on color with Holtz. The team hasn't been above .500 for a season in a long and having to miss this season just sucks for him. His mental health issues go way deep - all the way from losing interest in things that normally interested him to full-blow panic attacks, and in between. Sad deal. Sounds like he's coping the best he can.
  15. Nadel on Norm's show at 11:30 today. Will be interesting to see how he is doing / how soon he may return. Mental illness is no game.
  16. I could have zero posts, even going back 10+ years with Shaggy post World Series meltdowns and / or 100 losses in '14 and it would have zero to do with someone making a general comment about the trade deadline and the innocuous response to it. Whether it was made on a Rangers thread or not. Put your fan-policing pom poms down and take it easy. If you're still weirdly concerned about things give John Blake a call. 817-533-1972. Move on, it will serve you well.
  17. Posting to a thread can simply be a fan and observing. Do your homework over the years - you'll see plenty of posts in the Rangers threads and about zero in the Astros threads. No need to be a douche. If it's something you can possibly avoid.
