  1. I sat with one of our assistant coaches this morning at a youth soccer game. An important assistant coach, one I've referenced in other threads. His assessment of last Sunday? We tensed up in the last 6 minutes of the game, didn't execute, missed Disu a ton in the rotation and just had to give credit to a team that went into the paint and made shots. Big shots. When down 10 or so, Miami converted. He said its ability to get inside the lane to score, get to the line, or both, won the game. Not once did he mention officials. Nor should he have. I know that's a tough thing to do on this board, but live with it.
  2. Attacking an undersized team in the paint isn't being bailed out. Miami did that, and did it successfully against us. It had no prayer tonight given UConn's size. We just need more size. As much as some of you need some objectivity.
  3. Great chance to buy a $15 ticket and get courtside. It's still a national championship game.
  4. Miami destroyed us in the paint in crunch time. UConn ate Miami alive inside tonight.
  5. San Diego is a really good team. But it will be runner-up. UConn is the best team in this tournament. Out on a limb, I know....
  6. Grant Hill is so useless. Adds zero to the game.
  7. If they're smart they're in a bar. That's a terrible way to watch the game.
  8. On another note what is Alanis Morrisette doing at the CMT awards?
  9. Correct. The best team in the tournament. They'll win easily Monday night.
  10. Meh. Just watch ESPN, over and over and over and over, and it will convince you every 30 seconds on how the women's game is so good. But it's not. It's unwatchable.
  11. That is your definition of a nightmare. A violent tornado is the starter. And on top of it, at night, just a dark, menacing death machine periodically illuminated by lightning. Fuck that.
  12. Yes, it was. That was a nasty, and really good, Georgetown team. Villanova had no fear after playing them close (twice) during the regular season. Nova shot 78% for the game. From the floor. Shots taken were at a minimum. Every one mattered. McClain (D) and Pinckney were big but Harold Jensen just as much if not more. Hit some clutch shots when they needed to be made.
  13. I watched the final quarter of that womens game last night. The Iowa gal is good, has a nice jump shot. She seems to walk about every 3rd possession but I'll leave that to the 2,000 or so "refs sucks" subscribers on this board. The real story was the So Car coach. She was atrocious. Iowa has one player that can beat you. Cut off the damn head. Play one defender on her, run a 2nd one at her constantly and let those 3 big players run a triangle defending the basket. Nothing wrong with making an adjustment in the game. the coach may be the 2nd coming of John Wooden for all I know. Last night she was abysmal.
  14. Once the NCAA opened up entire stadiums to the FF quite a few years ago it became a beating to watch the game in person. It was bad enough when the stadiums were cut in half. Entire stadium? That's a bad, very bad, in-person experience. NRG is no exception. There are 70,000 or so seats available for sale, 2,500 of which are okay seats and go to the schools, NABC and sponsors. The remainder of the seats are distant views, and worse. I made the mistake of going to the semis in NRG in 2016. Never again, and we were "lower level". These tickets in the 600s should be given away, all games or otherwise, regardless of the matchups. Buy them and you may as well be watching the game from a neighboring highway.
  15. It won't get a ton of votes but my favorite (despite the video).
  16. Still the greatest day in Texas basketball history. I remember us driving down 35 that Sunday morning and you could see tons of orange in vehicles. 30,000 in the Alamodome. Not surprisingly, 27,000 - 28,000 were on the right side. Horns took the lead on a Sydmill 3-pointer about midway through the first half. Horns never looked back from that point. I don't think Sparty got closer than 5 or 6. Counting down the last seconds and seeing Ford and Barnes embrace at mid-court will always be etched in my mind. The next few days going into New Orleans were surreal hearing "Texas in the Final Four". Didn't seem possible but so it was. No reason is ever needed for a trip to New Orleans and it was an especially memorable one despite the Syracuse loss. Nothing was going to ruin the season. Seeing Ford in in the stands last Sunday in KC reminded me of his importance to that season and to the program as a whole, to this day. Before Durant and subsequent high-profile recruits, Ford made it cool to come to Texas. He was the first elite player we landed. Because of that and the (still) unmatched heights to which he took the program, Ford remains the most important player in Texas basketball history.
  17. Jesus, that footage. The balls on that cop. Big, very big. And manners as well before entering the building, "Yes Ma'am."
