  1. There’s no way aggy stays at 3 after this weekend. I get that they are undefeated but they haven’t played anyone with a pulse. we won’t be because the committee sucks but I’d make the case we should be ranked above them. Going on the road to osu and Georgia and one bad game against Florida is a hell of a better resume than 10 wins against nobodies. Shrug
  2. Insufferable asshole is always the answer. Always.
  3. This is the pathetic thing for aggy. A freshman on their team was 3 YEARS OLD the last time they won in Austin and they act like this series means something or is at least competitive. Delusion at its finest.
  4. On the whole the SEC has been a net winner in realignment but taking aggy is universally viewed in the conference leadership as a dumb choice. They are a net financial negative to the conference and generally one of the, if not THE, lowest revenue generator. There is a 0% chance that the SEC is going to lube aggy's trip to the conference championship game.
  5. 6 seed? Regardless of SECCG, if we lose to Georgia but beat aggy the committee has to seed us higher: 11 - 1 with a loss on their only hard road game test of the year vs. 9-3 with losses @Gerogia, @Florida, @OSU (#1) Our better wins (against teams that are actually ranked and no ND doesn't count in that math, they lost to Miami) should put us higher.
  6. Right? Ideally LSU will be forced to pay this amount and then the money is taken away from Kelly for reason I can't imagine. This is like the weekend of the aggy / tech game when I was in school. You really wanted them both to lose.
  7. In today's new low, aggy backed out of a game with Tarelton because apparently they are too much of a powerhouse. https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/1opl2hj/behrens_a_source_has_confirmed_to_me_that_texas/
  8. They are going to finish the season 1-3 and even though that's not their worst collapse it is going to be one of the sweetest.
  9. Yes, award that man an honhorray doctret degree.
  10. So, again, they can't. They are even more broke than usual. Their AD was very specific this summer about the need to cut expenses at every sport and that most likely involves having to rework existing contracts. Apparently glorifying the fact that your school is full of people who need 4 years to master "put seed in ground, then pick plant" or "use pipe move liquid somewhere else" doesn't result in a deep donor base, instead they have a bunch of "graduates" who really should have gone to trade schools. That just can't sustain the level of giving they now think is normal. Keep in mind - their biggest current donor was a guy with the amazing vision to see that people driving in cars might need gas at some point. That's some cerebral stuff right there.
  11. They can't pay him more. Their AD already said they have to cut expenses this year. So fat Elko's choices are (1) a dumpster fire, at a probable pay cut, with among the worst facilities in the state and an annual battle with the SEC to get to the playoffs; or (2) a huge pay increase, top notch everything, near his hometown, and a non-depleted donor base for NIL. The decision here isn't that hard.
  12. Fair enough but there's a difference between the natural ebb and flow of recruiting and a collapse. aggy is tilting towards the latter. Their class ranking is flirting with being outside the 20's once these updates hit.
  13. Poor aggy is starting to have some BIG recruiting issues. 4* EDGE opts out this week and 2 of their 3 highest recruits are supposed to reopen recruiting this weekend. But of course they aren't losing their coach, right? https://x.com/Hayesfawcett3/status/1984658834523111713
  14. I'd refine that a bit. The booster pays the player and his only payoff is winning. The owners (universities) can still benefit from the talent acquired by the boosters. If we recruited a lightning bolt media whore - a 2026 Manziel - but went 9-3, the boosters who paid him millions might be pissed, but our Athletic Department would be stoked at the higher ratings and licensed merch sales. How long that is sustainable remains to be seen. There aren't too many comparable scenarios where the person spending the money is completely disconnected with the person reaping the fruits off those investments.
