  1. This was yesterday, Sunday, which is also part of the weekend. First pitch was at 110pm according to the TV schedule. We were hungover so lunch was later than it usually would be. We sat down maybe around the third inning. My fries has the most delightful hint of rosemary; not overwhelming but just right to really brighten up the dish.
  2. So I was in Houston this weekend for a wedding and the Astros game was on during lunch with some friends at a sportsbar. I hadn't seen the Astros broadcast in ages but it really struck me how weird it is that in all their commercials for Astros stuff (merch, omg tickets for the game next week, etc.) they show the same shots of Alvarez's home run during the world series. It's so aggy, they were barely alive in that series and Alvarez totally lucked out to "turn the game upside down" but yet they play the damn thing like it is the biggest moment in sports history. tbh it was kind of sad seeing my Astros-fan friends getting all jacked up by it.
  3. Explain how .300 isn't feasible. Their two best hitters just got back and historically have taken some time to catch their mojo - time they don't have right now. Their pitching staff is already bruised and battered and faltering even more down the stretch. They are already damn near fielding a minor league staff some days. There aren't many, if any, good trade options for them like they had in 2017. Last night was the first adversity they've faced against a top tier team all season and they fell apart - and that's with the hard part of their schedule yet to play (including @ Rangers). Going in to next year they have an aging core and have emptied to cupboard for prospects. I see zero bright spots for them.
  4. Sadly that's the full on panic from anyone who works for, in or around the Astros. They are flashing back to the astros historical attendance norm and realizing they are all fucked. I have a buddy who is pretty high up in a contractor at minute maid and he said they are rolling out plans to slim down staffing if this year continues to go down the toilet. If this team continues to implode and goes .300 over the remaining games this season they full well know opening day next year is 5,000 people playing hooky from work. The Astros are about to go back where they belong, the sewer of baseball.
  5. I certainly select and eat good meat but, guess what, I didn't need to be in college for 4 years to learn how to do that. The other comment about bubba at the bait shop grading sushi is accurate too - these "meat scientists" are the dumbest and the dumb college students and even with 4 years of education they aren't going to be better than bubba in the bait shop.
  6. I couldn't agree more. In all honesty you don't even need a certificate type system. 99.9% of what's taught in the food science/ag science schools is just "don't be dumb". Meat Science - for example - should be like 1 hour of training: standard restaurant food safety training, how to make the cuts, and how to detect anything that's rotten. There it is. I literally just condensed a 4 year degree in to a FREAKING LINE OF TEXT. Granted the average redneck farmer in the US is probably going to have an IQ of like 10 so it might take reading that line a few times, but the point still stands.
  7. Don't forget other super high end classes in the Ag school like "Put seed in ground, make big plant 301 ", "Cut plant, take to market", and of course "Use Fence Keep Animal Where you Want 505." Food is important, sure, but there shouldn't be a state funded school vaporizing money for 4 year degrees that are just common sense.
  8. I had to google to confirm this was an actual thing at aggy and not a joke. They are using state dollars to "teach" this useless crap. That's money that's not available to other universities that actually, you know, educate their students. The damage that aggy does to higher education in this state is unreal. Also apparently when you are an idiot redneck you have to wear a hard hat to look at pieces of meat. Odd grocery stores don't have the same rules. I guess that says something about the ability of your average stocker at HEB vs. your average aggy "student"
  9. Only aggy would use state money on something this stupid (and then publicize it for all to see) A class that teaches the "history" of BBQ ...and as you might imagine they are getting universally gashed in the comments.
  10. It's not satire. It's just frustrating. This isn't TAPPS 2A where everybody has to be given a right to play and compete. This is a huge, valuable, high stakes business and if someone isn't contributing at the highest levels they should be part of the payout.
  11. I'm starting to think more and more that aggy was a means to an end for the SEC (both in terms of modernizing and also in getting us on board finally). I'm starting to also believe that some of the negotiations going on right now involve aggy and one other cellar dweller getting the boot from the SEC when we join with ou. Consider their conference history: SWC Days: Different world Big 12 Days: Got in because of big brother and our desire to avoid state-level pushback. See also: Baylor, tech, etc. SEC v1: Brought Texas-based eyeballs to the SEC for the first time, huge win for the SEC SEC v2(upcoming): SEC no longer needs their Texas-based eyeballs, we bring that in a much more dramatic fashion. aggy provides no further value to the conference. If you think about it it is quite enraging that aggy is going to get an equal share of conference revenue going forward. Texas brings way more shine both inside and outside of Texas. aggy has DISMAL TV numbers (typically the worst in the SEC) and they've embarrassed the conference every year. Their academics and their on-field product both suck as well. Perhaps the SEC is working to just write them a check they can use to pay off their perennially empty stadium or to buy their crappy coach out along with a note that says "Bye Felicia!"
  12. College Station is like Big Bend. If you want it you had better pack it up and bring it with you. Hopefully someone told Robert.
  13. And Tech is the lone bright spot. Upside down world.
  14. Dang. Shit gettin' real up in here
  15. If they licensed the Trogdor song as their fight song I would 100% go to their games.
  16. The goes way beyond Ewers. The refs were in on it too. And there's more. Personally I believe there's a secret group of Syrians living in an underground bunker. The civil war there provides cover for their operations. From their underground bunker they map out wins/losses for college football up to 2 years in advance. Their end goal is to create enough chaos in the college football world to enable double agent Mormons they've planted, who are really Scientologists, to take over ESPN. From what I've heard they've hacked Sark's Uverse and are brainwashing him with subliminal messaging whenever he watches TV. It's all pretty simple if you take a step back and take the blinders off.
  17. It's amazing they keep their contract with Willie to play every Saturday night considering - at least in my experience - how frequently you go down there and he no-shows.
  18. Not trying to one up you here but a really close friend of my cousin runs one of the most successful underground sports books out of the Hartz Chicken in Giddings so I'm kind of the supreme authority here.
  19. omg we are going through both of the teams like a hot knife through butter. they both play perfectly to our strengths.
  20. Football is more fun when there's more than 1 play without a timeout or a penalty
  21. Honestly the SEC is going to be a cakewalk compared to the last several years in the B12. It's going to be one or two hard to hard-ish games a year and a bunch of cupcakes. The fact that there will be more exposure and more blowjobs from the media along the way will up our recruiting further, which will make the conference easier, which will make recruiting easier, wash, rinse, repeat. This was bama's formula and we easily step in to those shoes pretty easily our first year or two in the SEC. Saban got a taste of what he's going to be playing every single year with our game and I think the reality of that is going to make retirement with this legacy intact appear pretty darn appealing.
  22. Can we rename this thread "show me a third loss"? I think we can out offense OSU and the purple teams aren't yet proven in my book.
  23. Based on the genes in play here I don't think that was an option anyway
  24. You forgot they actually have a statue devoted to the honorable profession of wrapping a chain around a pipe (which obviously requires a 4 year degree subsidized by the rest of us).
