  1. One thing that bothers me is my inability to sleep on my back if I put the pillow pressure directly on the back of my head, where my head connects to my neck, right under where the skull softens up back there. I've also though maybe it's that the blood is pooling in that area, but it gives some gnarly nightmares if I fall asleep that way. Started out of nowhere in my mid-20s, and still affects just about every time I accidentally fall asleep that way a decade later. I became a side sleeper or a back sleeper where my head is turned at least 45 degrees to a side. I had two dreams where I literally woke up and got to work immediately started coaching myself to forget whatever I just dreamt and not think about it too much, because I know what causes it (the sleeping position), and that position activates some of the darkest things my imagination has ever come up with. Luckily I don't remember them, I just remember waking up terrified twice, one of them definitely screaming. Definitely had sleep paralysis a few times in that position too. I do remember one dream where I fell asleep with the back of my head on my couch armrest and it triggered a dream with my grandma in it a few years after she passed away. We were just chillin in her living room but she was there and it felt so real but instead of being happy to see her I remembered she was dead and started crying. I blame the sleeping position on that pain feeling so vivid. Certainly just as vivid as when I was at her funeral, but the despair and pain came back out of nowhere that night. I feel like if I would've had the dream while sleeping in a different position the feelings of pain/sadness wouldn't have hit at all, maybe would've just had good memories.
  2. I thought this week was a good episode. Enjoyed.
  3. Can't wait til an actual competent coaching staff smacks you in the fucking mouth for trying to go for 8 4th downs in a single game and boat races you by 28 at the half because you can't be a dumbass against all big 12 teams. Let another coaching staff find out your QB is basically Hudson Card plus 30 pounds. Just wait!
  4. I know this is loser talk but I'm going to say it anyway because I'm still pissed. Fuck you you cocksucker. The only things running through Lubbock require a condom to stop. Beating Texas is the ONLY thing that matters to your fans. After you lose to K state on Saturday and your stadium goes back to 60% full, it will hit you that mediocrity (but beat Texas) is a damn good target for Tech, and always will be. You won your super bowl, but as the longhorns know, playing your super bowl in front of a sold-out home crowd is a nice advantage to have for a week. Your 3* will show 5* hustle for a game. Get back on the road and prove you're not the definition of mediocre then come talk to me.
  5. Bingo. Not that I'm pining for the Pre-PK days.... but sure seemed like we could have used a "star" or whatever player is a hybrid LB/S like BJ Foster was. Somebody we can bring down to the middle of the field to help stop slants and TEs over the middle. 2 high and soft corner coverage was just giving slants and 9-yard stops to that QB over and over again. Wtf.
  6. I noticed this yesterday. Keilan was a big part of the first drive, but apparently we had absolutely no interest in letting him, or Bijan, test the off-tackle runs or outside zone after that. Swing passes, anything.
  7. Texas 31-16 over tech. Our receivers combine for 188 yards.
  8. The work JT did on that double team was beautiful. Those two executed that to perfection.
  9. I felt like episode 1 required a lot more thinking than I was ready to do. The surreal parts got weird quick, especially the parking garage thing...... but I let episode 2 start without a break and I thought that one was great. They were both solid, but 2 had a lot more to say directly, and a lot more acting time and character development for Glover. Oh, and shoutout to Tracy.
  10. I do think that the experience is improving. Fans are showing up, getting louder. The student section is a far cry from a few years ago when they were struggling to put students in the south end bleachers. They have been bringing it. I actually do like some of the corny produced shit like the AC/DC thunderstruck intro on the big screen. Didn't even mind the manufactured Journey moment under the lights. It feels like we're all there together. At the same time, not nearly enough Texas Fight chants over the 2 games I've been, and not nearly enough Longhorn Band. I think the mix can level out juuuuust a bit to get it where we want it. Because 1 Texas fight chant during a home game is not enough.
  11. Pearl. Very solid, really enjoyed. Never been a huge horror fan, but I like the style that Ti West does them in with both 'X' and Pearl. I could do without the constant unsettling imagery, but I get the point. Fun ride.
  12. It didn't "take" NFL caliber plays to beat UTSA, we beat them with the talent we have. I also give a lot of credit to their QB, who started college in 2017 and graduated a year and a half ago. I'm assuming he took an extra COVID year or something because last year he was all conference as a redshirt Sr. It took UTSA having a 23-year old returning super super senior all-conference QB just to keep it within 21.
  13. Yep and it was pissing me off in the first half that we couldn't get to him. That dude was completing every pass on the route tree that is within 20 yards. On the move, doesn't matter, he was on the mark. That Overshown sack was so damn satisfying to finally get til they threw the flag.
  14. Was cool to hear Sturgill to close out an episode for the 2nd time on this show. I just realized this song definitely fit the theme of the episode as well.
  15. Texas - 37 UTSA - 20 UTSA Yards - 305
  16. Was at the fight on Saturday. Was my first time attending any fight live. The place going dark before the Stones started playing, and then they show Nate on the screen a few seconds into the song..... I think I'll get goosebumps forever from that. Felt like the entire damn place was there to see him and him only. Khamzat had a few people in my section standing and cheering as he went full heel at the end, but no doubt Dana knew exactly what he was doing trying to sacrifice Nate, in front of a 90% Nate crowd... Fuck him. Experience was a blast. Felt like a club in there, so much energy, even between fights.
  17. Damn who got Leslie to DJ for a bunch of weirdos? I don't know her, but I've seen her on Rainey, Las Perlas, etc. She's legit.
  18. Damn, I was out of town this weekend and didn't even notice this was his weekend to get inducted. What a huge moment for him, the Spurs, and San Antonio. My favorite memory of him might be the new, old Manu when he had a resurgence in time for the last championship. IIRC he kinda struggled with injuries early in the 2010s a bit, then came back after and took on more of a "crafty" YMCA guy since he lacked a lot of the athleticism he had a decade prior. That might have been my favorite version. Even though old-school Dunking Manu was a good one.
  19. I've been thinking for months about someone's post a while back showing how PKs defenses get significantly more productive in year two. Post-install. Maybe he had Gary showing him how to coach for all his previous stops too though. /s Give the guy some credit. Also be glad GP is on the sidelines. What a lucky bounce our way with that
  20. I really liked it. Just a bit of background and character building for Chester. Cheese seems to be the glue guy to the group. That role was definitely made for Maron.
  21. Wouldn't be a Surly member if I didn't gripe, so here it is. Daemon has graduated from not being able to beat Sir Cristan in a fair joust in episode one, to a fucking ninja assassin by episode 3. We're not supposed to respect him, or we are? Speaking of respect, he flushes out the crabs by "surrendering" so they obvs 1. send out 4 at a time to get slaughtered one by one. Until a dozen men are dead. And then 2. Send out 50 men to form a respectful 15-foot perimeter around Daemon, to just..... stare at him. Until reinforcements are able to arrive. And 3. the King Crab was all worried about a dragon, but for the millionth time in a GoT episode, that flying 3-ton beast is able to sneak up on his army when he's not looking like a ..... well, a 6-oz crab. Anyways, see y'all on Sunday.
  22. Yeah I saw Jupe as just as much of a character study as the monkey. And his perceived relationship with the monkey was a metaphor for how he viewed his relation to the "ufo" as well.
  23. Just caught the new episode. Shoutout to Amber MidThunder. Cool to see her as a typical Liberal Arts major/student leader after playing such a badass in Prey. That little conference reminded me of a few diversity retreats/seminars I went to in undergrad. The painful icebreakers and activities, the weird/inconsistent messaging, and overall the feeling of "why the hell are we here? We can only change so much, the people that need to hear this aren't here." That old undertone of grief was back too, and pretty strong. Bear and Elora are going through it, bad, and they don't seem to have anywhere to turn.
