  1. I would think if he already has a history of being nimble/quick that most of his concerns about injury should be alleviated with that fact. If he's cut and sprinted for short distances before then he knows his knees/joints can take it, that's pretty much most of the injury risk at that age. Depending on the level of play (huge school that plays other huge schools with big kids?) his injury risk could be higher, but I'm not sure that high school varsity football players are coming close to the concussion rates of NCAA or NFL players. Even less so for Defensive Backs I'd assume. Plenty of DB's in high school can get away with being athletic/quick/explosive and still start while clearly being scared to hit on the field.
  2. Random tip I just benefited from, NSIAP: Used Hertz a bit the last few years because I was in-between serviceable cars and the ability to get a new one, had about 1500 points saved up, no need to use them any time soon (got the new car, and 1500 points is like one day rental), but just found the option on their Rewards website to transfer their points to Rapid Rewards miles (something like 500 Hertz points=600 Rapid Rewards), so I put in a request to do that. I should be getting 1200 rapid rewards soon for a perk that I thought I'd never be able to use through Hertz. Definitely flying more often than renting a car these days. They have most major American airlines miles covered. I got most of my Hertz points (500) just for signing up, so basically just signing up to get bombarded with spam emails could net you some miles....
  3. Bro. Really? You're arguing boxing metrics for a business deal? This is capitalism, this is how our country works. He doesn't get to call shots because he has a "big mexican fanbase," he gets to call shots because his profitability outweights GGG's exponentially. You can do the research for GGG's biggest PPV #s outside of the Canelo fight, compare that with Canelo's PPV #s outside of GGG (you can even disregard Mayweather if you'd like, that's an outlier), then you'll have your answer as to why capitalism rules this scenario.
  4. Horn/Bud, Trout/Charlo Santa Cruz/Mares. Fun weekend, fight fans.
  5. Ebay is 20% off today: PICKDADSGIFT . Minimum $50 purchase, max of $100 off your purchase. Think I might cop some shoes and celebrate not being a dad yet.
  6. Glad y'all went through this so I didn't have to. This thread delivers.
  7. This was me last night (and a bit over the past couple of weeks too). I have no idea who to root for, so I just find myself rooting to see the stupidest ones die first. Like that dude that's part of their elite Seal Team 6 security ops and somehow gets brought down by some slow talking and flirting. Get the entire fuck out of here... I should've known the battles and action scenes would be stupid after that one scene where the security team walked through a flat plain in a straight line towards the hosts in week 1 or 2. They need some consulting on that. I'll be watching next week, just as confused as ever, and trying hard not to roll my eyes at the lazy writing.
  8. Well shit if Del Conte gets his plans up and running by fall you might have a better attraction outside of the stadium before game time along San Jacinto. He's trying to turn that into a party area before game-time, but not sure how rowdy people will be encouraged to get around there, I imagine it might could have a more family-friendly feel to it, but if it's a spot to slam beers and talk shit before kickoff it could be great.
  9. Great pics, my weekend was great as well. Did Zocalo and Teotihuacan and Chapultepec. You gotta make it out to chapultepec/the castle for those pics alone, the park is really nice, the history behind that memorial is pretty great as well. I came back with a deeper understanding/feeling of Mexican pride after visiting that memorial (of the Niños Héroes). You kinda start getting a clearer picture of where the deep pride and machismo comes from, everything that permeates throughout the culture, like even a love for boxing... Mexicans are fighters. I'd never been to Mexico further than a border town (and Cozumel), so seeing the rich history and modern daily life of CDMX was awesome. I spent 2 and 1/2 hours at the Nat'l Anthropology Museum and only made it through maybe 55% of it. That thing is huge, but I could've done without the first room, it gets progressively better though, I had to leave as I was rushing through the time periods just before the Spanish invasion, those displays are great. If you're genuinely interested in history or even just the native peoples of Mexico, it will take about 4 hours to do it justice, so note that. For the partying/socializing nights I stayed around the Roma/Condesa areas and both were pretty lively, had to do some searching for good Sunday/Monday night spots but eventually found both. Met people from a handful of different countries, Mexico City is a world-renowned place and has a great young-professional traveling scene. Great time. Hands down the most surprising part of my trip was youngsters/hipster 20-somethings and their style. I'd never been to a big city in Mexico, but the hipsters/college kids around Roma Norte were always dressed cool as shit. I was able to catch a DJ set (Toro y Moi, if anybody has heard of him) at a club on Saturday night, and I was just impressed with how stylish all the young folk were and how friendly as well. Oh and the 4 tacos for $20 spot outside of my hostel was insane. It didn't hit me until I got home that a few of my lunches/late-night snack runs literally only cost me about a dollar. For 4 tacos. Insanely cheap. 6-pack of Indio at the OXXO corner-store was about $4.50. Roma and Condesa can be a bit more U.S. standard with their drink prices at the nicer places though (they are definitely more trendy/hip). Definitely doing a foodie tour next time I visit, didn't get to do almost any of the places that were recommended to me. So much to do over 4 days. Edit: Oh, I agree completely about the poverty on the way to Teotihuacan, it looked like pictures I'd seen of Brazil there. Like favelas. But it's a big city, every city has the ghetto. We did a self-guided tour of teotihuacan when we got there and wound up walking around like half of the complex (where the stand-alone restaurants are), and that area also looked pretty run-down and rural. Dry/arid, concrete buildings, like it must always be hot as shit there. Dirt soccer fields. etc.
  10. I agree with the last sentence, she is indeed. I don't agree with the first 2, that's hyperbole. Police with their police unions/lawyers vs. a baseless claim with no evidence from a civilian? Show me the stats to back that up...
  11. I thought the X-Force scene was great. That was a fun stretch of 5-10 minutes and a pretty damn funny payoff. Domino is fucking smoke, quickly becoming one of my favorite actresses on any screen (for aesthetics, I know shit about acting). Overall the movie was cool, I knew what to expect with the 4th wall shit and the abundance of sarcasm and Ryan Reynolds being Ryan Reynolds....6.5/10. Enjoyable, glad I saw it, won't be rushing to see it again (never watched Deadpool 1 again, and I generally liked that).
  12. They've written the show like they have a hell of a story to tell, but they insist on moving that story along as slowly as fucking possible. I can accept some TV shows will not have an over-arching story to tell but might decide to take the episode-by-episode route instead, which can work as long as they accept that's the type of show they are (like a sitcom). This show is dabbling in both and it's frustrating. Last week's episode might have been my favorite of the season because it introduced a lot of new material and moved the story along greatly, this week was a regression it seemed.
  13. One of the many reasons I wish I was fluent en espanol is bc of the way the language can convey feeling that you just don't see in English. The metaphors and analogies they use that would seem weird in the states.
  14. Pissed that I missed the 2nd half of the fight, I had to leave after round 5 or 6, it had just started getting good, but you could tell Stevenson picked up his pace at that moment because he was getting frustrated. I had a feeling Jack would turn it up late. I'd like to see either one against Kovalev really. Since the Ward fights Kovalev has been easing his way back into the mix, and now picked an interesting opponent, albeit one without much power at all in Alvarez. I'd actually think he'd be more interested in fighting Stevenson or Jack than he would Bivol or Beterbiev, his choice in opponents tells me he wants to coast into retirement soon.
  15. Some of this, and add in a bit of that bullshit ass "Swag Champs" mantra some of their fans have taken to for years on Facebook, and add in a bit of: and you have a good picture. Their fans are blind followers that rooted to be led by Dwight Howard and then by James Harden, and now throw CP3 into the mix. They've spent decades hating on the Spurs' style only to be the most flopping team still left in the league (only their fans, who haven't watched a Spurs game in 5 years will still say the Spurs are boring/floppers). They are never self-aware enough to notice that maybe culture really does matter, and rooting for your team of front-running chokers/quitters without ever expecting more out of the culture of your team is enough for me.... They suck.
  16. The last (and maybe only) time this happened to me was during a day-long UT Football tailgate, and I had to duck walk/run my ass over to the Education building to shit. Getting paid to shit is the best though, I can do it twice a day on the company dime and save on TP at home while doing it. You're missing out.
  17. Holy shit y'all've been to a lot. DKR x50 Reliant Stadium & Alamodome & Cotton for neutral site Javelina Stadium aka the self-proclaimed birthplace of throwing tortillas on the field - Kingsville, Texas. Prairie View A&M's stadium to watch A&M Kingsville as well. So I've been to apparently one real college stadium...
  18. Because he's insecure as hell... that's the reason. Also, does Goo Punch = Derka? If so I guess the basketball forum was fun while it lasted. See y'all in other threads....
  19. Nice, think we're going bright & early Sunday or Monday. Brisket, opens at 8 or 9? if you remember.... I'm stoked. Never been. Kinda nervous because I hate being this brown and knowing so little Spanish, but also ready to feel my ancestry again...
  20. How long until Pop doesn't have any successors lined up, and is that around the time he decides to call it quits? Are we fucked for life then? Got 5 I guess. They'll keep me warm at night.
  21. If the criteria to be considered smart is having done one smart thing (which may or may not be influenced by your handlers) I suppose a lot more of the world's population is smarter than I thought. So, sure, you're right.
  22. Man, look, I can accept that he'll finish his career as the most decorated NBA player in Longhorn history. I can also accept his love for the university that he spent 2 semesters at, and all the good he gives back to my University. But having said that, I view every person as a person, and since this thread brought up "the decision" along with his personality, I'll be the first to say that KD is wack as shit. He's extremely insecure and still doesn't seem to grasp how a large portion of NBA fans thinks it's suspect as fuck to leave the team you reached pretty decent heights with to join the team that beat you. His insecurities shine through both in the way he talks about that situation and in the crazy shit he does like create burner accounts to defend himself. He has this nagging chip on his shoulder that only he's responsible for yet he'll never fully comprehend why people will view him this way. No shared identity will gloss over somebody's personality and character to me, and on that front, I can name plenty more basketball Longhorns that I am way more proud of to have representing my school...
  23. Fuck the Rockets. Don't get me wrong, fuck the Warriors too, but they are inevitable, like Thanos. Whether we like it or not they assembled the most ridiculous team of all time and now get to win championships. I hate how they did it, but it's done. James Harden and the insufferable Rockets' fans deserve each other and every let-down they get.
  24. Jamaal Charles. Took us for about 250+ yards and 4 TDs, but we beat him in double overtime in his final HS game. I played "against" him as a team, I was on O-lineman so never had to try to tackle that man thank God.
  25. Looks like a Drag-Rat. Another artist that used Hip-Hop to make it mainstream and then showed his true musical roots once the teenagers were on board. So basically he's a male Miley Cyrus. She looks like she smells like ashtrays too.
